I like it a lot, and I don't understand why people around here are so tough on it. They act like it has nothing interesting going on, but I think the storyline is pretty engaging. I just love the overall concept - the Vatican as a military superpower in the West trying to maintain a stable peace with the vampire Empire in the East. And neither side is inherently evil, but obviously each side has corrupt people in high positions (the Inquisitorial Department for the Vatican, and the Rosenkreutz for the Empire).
I also think characters like Father Knightroad and Ester are very likeable and easy to sympathize with (and more recently Eon and Radu). I think a big part of that is also the really good vocal cast Funimation has. I also like the child Pope, and how he's controlled by his overbearing brother.
I don't think it's the most spectacular thing I've ever seen, and the animation doesn't exactly blow me away. Other than Abel's Crusnick form, there haven't been any really cool designs, machines, superpowers, etc, shown yet, but for me the good story and characters outdo the shortcomings pretty easily.
Maybe people are just pissed it gets better ratings than Bleach.

Those cross-shaped vatican warships are pretty spiffy. Yeah, the animation isn't mindblowing, but they put in the extra effort when there's a big fight scene.

Besides the animation, this is actually a pretty good show. Not the best show and I probaly won't buy the Dvds or watch it again but i still find it pretty entertaining. I really think TB is a great anime to introduce your nonanime friends and or family members to.
