Is this going in the "Hanna-Barbera" DVD-line, or is going to be seperate?
Also, so close and yet so far...

Tvshowsondvd.com reports that the 3 season of Scooby-Doo Where are You? (as part of Scooby's All Stars) will be on DVD on April 10. I wouldn't mind seeing Laff-A-Lympics: The Complete Series.

So...looks like we can count out seeing Scooby's All Stars' main titles resurrected...
Wait a minute!! These Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! adventures were not originally aired as part of the Scooby's All Stars series! They were shown separately on ABC's Saturday Morning schedule in 1978-79. Here's proof:

It seems like they are releasing the 16 episodes from 1978. So the question is, are they planning anything special for the 8 1977 episodes (hint, hint, like Scooby's All-Star Laff-a-Lympics in the 2 hour format for at least the first few episodes)?

Yeah, what's with the 1977 episodes then? Won't they be released at all? These were much better than the '78 season too.

No, that was the original series being played separately, and the new episodes WERE apart of the 90 min. Allstars show. Somewhere along the lines, it got mixed up in people's recollection. No new "SDWAY" opening was ever made for these episodes, and they were never billed as any "third season" of the original. (and they are like mixing oil and water in comparison!)
I certainly agree, the 1977 episodes were much more passable as a third season of SDWAY.

Are they going to be editied? It seems that with these DVDs, it's always a toss-up.

I would like to know that also. I was just over at Wikipedia and noticed the 8 you mentioned as missing. It would be nice to have all the Scooby Doo eps.

I assume it'll be part of the Hanna-Barbera Classic/Golden Collection, but when the artwork comes out, we'll know for sure.Your assumption is correct, Kolbar. Though, I wish they'd release the larger cover art. Hopefully it will tie in well with my Seasons 1 and 2 set, even if it will be 1/3 the size.

My question is this...
I was just wondering are most of the Scooby-Doo Where are You for Season 3 considered a under the title Scooby-Doo Show? I plan to get this DVD. :)

The episodes that aired from 1976-1978 never had separate opening titles, those episodes aired under the umbrella Scooby shows from that period (Scooby-Doo and Dynomutt, Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics, and Scooby's All-Stars). When those episodes started airing on syndication in 1980, they aired with the re-edited Scooby-Doo and Dynomutt Show opening, which took out all references of Dynomutt known as The Scooby-Doo Show. When various episodes from 1976 aired during the early 80's on ABC to fill the gaps in the schedule as Scooby-Doo Classics, they aired with the original 1969 opening credits. So those episodes never had their own opening credits during the original airings.

Ahhh, that solves a couple of questions for me Mr. Intensity. When Boomerang ran the ScoobyDoo marathon when Scooby Doo 2 came out in the theatres I taped all the episodes from that period you spoke of had the ScoobyDoo Show opening with them. Thanks for clearing that up. :)

Regarding the DVD release, the episodes have "the Scooby Doo Show" syndicated openings.
It's sort of funny now that this so called "3rd" season of "Scooby Doo where are you" is also
being referred to as the "3rd" season of "the Scooby Doo Show" now that it's available from
iTunes.
From a syndication perspective, the "1st" season of "the Scooby Doo show" takes the episodes
from Scooby Doo/Dynomutt hour from 1976. The "2nd" season is the episodes from Scooby's all-star
Laff-a-Lympics in 1977, and this "3rd" season is the episodes that aired from Scooby's All Stars in 1978.
I wonder if the WB archive website is ever planning on releasing the 8 so for missing episodes
from the 1977 season?

WB sure loves skipping around the seasons of Scooby and Superfriends. I'm still holding out hope that 'The New Scooby Doo Mysteries' (the season before 13 Ghosts)will make it to DVD sooner or later.

That's a big-time affirmative, but then again, Warner Bros. DVD releases of both Scooby-Doo and The Superfriends sold a lot, but WB needs to finish releasing both long-running programs on DVD in their respective entirety- they're both family classics. I do know WB still has yet to release 1979's The World's Greatest Superfriends, Superfriends '80 and Superfriends '81 on to DVD, but how many more releases of the original Scooby-Doo series have yet to see a DVD release? I know The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Hour Season 1, Volume 2 will be released on DVD, sometime this summer.

Mainly, WB needs to release The Scooby and Scrappy Doo episodes, The New Scooby Doo Mysteries, the eight missing episodes from The Scooby Doo Show, Scooby's All Stars Laff-A-Lympics{WB still hasn't released anything past Volume 2}, and Shaggy and Scooby Doo! Get A Clue{same situation as Laff-A-Lympics}. I think that's all of them. I don't see the remaining episodes of The New Scooby Doo Movies being released anytime soon.
I know The Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Hour Season 1, Volume 2 will be released on DVD, sometime this summer. It will?

wow! that's great news, i had given up.
I know these aren't the most highbrow episodes ever drawn, but i love the format of this show,
and it's one of the few anthology shows that WB released as an anthology without too many mess-ups.
