Kent Broyhill
01-25-2002, 10:51 PM
This is my first post to this message board (I have been a lurker for about a year or so), and I am really looking forward to participating on the Termite Terrace board! In case you haven't heard by now, Cartoon Network is making some schedule changes in the next month or two. (for the worse, IMHO!)
I have here a schedule proposal based on the new schedule, with some much-needed improvements. Anyhoo, here is what I have come up with:

Well there you have it! My CN shedule proposal, as well as my first post on Termite Terrace! I know that this schedule is by no means perfect, but it is a considerable improvement over the uncomping CN schedule (& even the current one, IMHO!). I also tried to make a effort to include all the shows included on the new schedule, as well as the new ones & returning favorites that I added. Any questions or comments welcome. If anyone has any, please post! :-) :bosko:

That's a great line-up! Good amount of classic and modern cartoons! Don't forget, there should be some sort of slot for a Pink Panther show too. :)

I wrote my schedule awhile back:

It is obvious with CN bringing Hanna-Barbara cartoons, Baby Blues, Batman, and Superman, that they are improving. 10A Dennis the Menese
10:30A Mother Goose and Grimm

Duncanzits, leaving off Bugs and Daffy/Tom and Jerry is not a good idea. Other than that, I like both schedules. I choose not to watch Cartoon Cartoons, but they should stay on there because so many people like them.

What is really needed is a 24/7 network devoted 100% to classic cartoons.

With a joint ownership by WB and Viacom and participation from Universal, Disney, MGM, and "Classic Media LLP", there could be finally a way to see hundreds of cartoons.

If CN's Tom and Jerry and Bugs and Daffy were not edited maybe.

Welcome Kent! Hope you have fun here.

I wouldn't mind seeing some more stuff from other studios, though. Like the Fliescher/Paramount and Depate-Freleng cartoons and Totally Tooned In with all those Columbia shorts (I don't know if they allow stations to break up the half hour shows...).

But I love that the Lantz and stuff is there, with Woody, Andy, Oswald, and Chilly Willy.

Isn't there a 24 hour channel called Boomerang in the US?

Yeah, but I think you have to have a satellite to carry it.

The Fleischer/Paramount Betty Boops turn up periodically on LNB&W, and newly-restored Fleischer Popeye's air on The Popeye Show. As for the Depatie-Freling (Pink Panther, et. al.) and Columbia cartoons (Fox & the Crow, Scrappy, Mr. Magoo, etc.), we could air them on Boomerang, and give them periodic CN exposure through Acme Hour, for example; if there is no room on Cartoon Network's schedule for them. Another classic cartoon studio I could throw in is Terrytoons (Mighty Mouse, Heckle & Jeckle)

I'm not too familiar with Boomerang's programming, since my cable company doesn't carry it. IIRC, their schedule seems to be mainly Hanna-Barbera-ish TV cartoons, with a few Classic Hollywood cartoon shows, such as Bugs Bunny and Tom & Jerry. IIRC, they ran theatrical Popeye cartoons a while back, from the information I gathered on their schedule.

Just my two cents worth! :-) :bosko:

It's excellent to see that you guys still have not forgotten my show proposal of presenting a weekly showcase of silent cartoons on CN.I still send e-mail to those guys at CN for my show idea, let's just hope I'll get a response someday from the executives at AOL/Time Warner about bringing silent cartoons back into the public viewing. :)
