im a huge db and dbz fan and want to know if gt is worth spending the money on. everytime i hear about everyone says it sucks, or that its not that good.
now i find that hard to believe that it could be that bad, i mean, its dragonball. i heard it starts off good then gets bad after like the first 12 eps or something. maybe i just really want it to be good, but did it start to get good again after it was bad? cause id think that the makers of it would try and make it better if they saw it wasnt as good.
so is it really that bad? is it worth the money to get it? and does it start to get better towards the end and atleast have a good final story? thanks for the info. peace.

It's no Dragonball or DragonballZ I can tell you that. Also, it's okay... for something that isn't done by Akira Toriyama...me personally, I wouldn't waste my money on it. But whatever floats your boat. If you want to know, figure it out for yourself(no rudeness intended).
Anyways, it gets a little better towards the end, so if you really want to know, go ahead and buy it. :)

It's not that bad at all. If you don't compare it DB or DBZ. Don't bother buying it. Funimation went to Japan to have sit down with Toei about the rights and it should be on Toonami sometime in 2003. If someone has the fansubs and is willing to trade, do that instead. People are getting ripped off left and right for Dragonball fansubs. Email me before you "buy" them. I'll let you know if it's a good deal. I may even know some people who may "hook you up".

Just try not to get the "Liberal" fansubs. I.E., the ones with four-letter words every minute. Contrary to popular belief, there isn't really any horribly foul language in DBZ. It's just fansubbers taking liberties when translating the dialouge.

I've seen the first 8 episodes of it.... Really weird, possibly bad depending on your POV.... Pan's a cutie imo.... And there's some nice bits with the DB/Z crew at the beginning, reacting towards Goku's state... Dunno what's up with Trunks' matrimonial status in it, tho'...

Well, I would say that only the first 23 or so episode's are pretty bad. It starts to get better after that, remember, this wasn't done by Toriyama, so it isn't very good.

If Trunks goes around all the time like he's dressed in GT, he's NEVER gonna get married........what happened to his clothes? They look awful! Why can't he wear something like he did in DBZ? He looks so weird. Yuck.

thanks for the info guys. my hook ups are pretty sweet though. i can get basically any anime for 5 bucks in chinatown. so like a dbgt tape w/ four eps would be 5 bucks, but theres still alot of tapes. theyre pirated but not bad quality, the kind youd buy in comic conventions for 20 bucks.
thanks for the offer nightwing38116, i will email you if i decide to get them. but 5 bucks a tapes not too bad, but i still dont know if i want buy them.
but my main concern is that the db saga would end with a good story, so if it gets better toward the end, i alittle relieved. peace.

Personally, I think DBGT is entertaining. The first half of the series has practically all of the elements from the original Dragonball. I won't spoil it for you, but GT has one episode that practically mirror one of the first 5 Dragonball episodes. The latter half of GT is more DBZ oriented(ie- mindless butt-kicking action), but GT has something DBZ didn't have- a GREAT conclusion. Episode 64 of DBGT is a must watch for any Dragonball fan old and new, but I don't think anyone has subbed that episode, so you might see it raw like I did. As for how much your tapes cost, it sounds like you have a good deal, but try to support the FUNi subtitled DVDs when they come out too. They'll have crystal clear quality and near perfect translation. NO fansub can offer that.:)

I argee, GT did have a better ending then DBZ, but you have to admit that the whole storyline for the first half was rather weak.
It has been subbed already, it's kinda hard to find though. When FUNI started shiping out subs, everyone kinda stop selling the Dragonball series.

Not to mention he changes clothes mid-air.... He did get married early in DBGT but it didn't quite work out. ;)

id totally support funimation w/ there db/dbz/dbgt dvds, that is, if theyd put more than 3 episodes on the dvds!!! im sorry, but theres no way in hell im shelling out all that money for such a long series w/ only 3(im pretty sure its 3 eps, although i could be 4) eps per dvd. i mean, they should atleast give us 6 or 7 eps per dvd, thats fair, but apparently its all about the $$$$.
oh well, ill stick w/ the fan subs untill they are more generous w/ their dvds (or untill i win the lottery!!). peace.

I don't think it's true. I mean, I used to be a huge DB fan... man, the manga (and the show) was funny, original... a must-read (see). DBGT did try to get that atmosphere back but it just fell through. The whole beginning of the series was UNfunny, predictable, ludicrous and very very weak storywise. The more DBZ-oriented eps were weak as well, but at least we were used to this kind of weakness with the latest DBZ episodes.
One piece of advice: don't waste your money on such a poor show DP.
