im a huge db and dbz fan and want to know if gt is worth spending the money on. everytime i hear about everyone says it sucks, or that its not that good.

now i find that hard to believe that it could be that bad, i mean, its dragonball. i heard it starts off good then gets bad after like the first 12 eps or something. maybe i just really want it to be good, but did it start to get good again after it was bad? cause id think that the makers of it would try and make it better if they saw it wasnt as good.

so is it really that bad? is it worth the money to get it? and does it start to get better towards the end and atleast have a good final story? thanks for the info. peace.

It's no Dragonball or DragonballZ I can tell you that. Also, it's okay... for something that isn't done by Akira Toriyama...me personally, I wouldn't waste my money on it. But whatever floats your boat. If you want to know, figure it out for yourself(no rudeness intended).

Anyways, it gets a little better towards the end, so if you really want to know, go ahead and buy it. :)

"i heard it starts off good then gets bad after like the first 12 eps or something. "

[indent]The way I understood it was the other way around. From what I have heard the first third or so is boring and not very Dragonballish, but then it really kicks into gear after that.

From what I've heard, the first 23 episodes rate very high on the suck scale. But I've also heard that if you can survive the first 23 the rest is pretty good, just not as good as anything from DB/Z.

Personally I say just wait about a year and by then CN will be airing GT. That way you can find out if you like it or not without wasting money that could be invested in series that you might like more.

What I heard was that, since Toriyama had no part in its creation, it was like a whole series of the "filler material" from DBZ (i.e. Garlic Jr. Saga, the movies, etc.). So, if you don't mind large plot holes, then you would probably like it.

I think the main reason people say GT sucked was because they thought there was too much comedy an not enough fighting. It didn't last very long, either. Only made 60-something episodes.

Right before DBGT ended, it started getting really good, but the first saga in it sucked.

From the reviews I've read, DBGT is 64 episodes long, divided up into two main sagas: finding the Dark Star dragon balls, then Bebi (in case you don't want any spoilers, I won't tell what Bebi is). The first half of the series was supposed to go back to the show's roots, i.e. Dragonball type comedy and adventure, while trying to find the dragonballs. Fans didn't take to it very well. So for the second half of the series, the people in charge decided to go the tried and true route ala DBZ fighting (though more compact since there were only 30 or so episodes left). This is considered to the be saving grace of DBGT, as the fights were good and the pacing better than Z. There are also surprises in store.

I have not seen the series, but I have seen some clips, and from what I've seen (from the second half of the series) I think it looks great. But like someone said above, since it is highly likely that it will make its way to CN, better to hold off on buying it now (unless you want to check out a fansub or two) and seeing what the show has to offer.

Oh, I also read that Toriyama was involved with the character designs, but not much else like plot or development.

Tell me about who Bebi is! You can do it in spoiler mode, so nobody has to read it unless they want to!

Okay, if you insist. But keep in mind that I read this a long time ago, so all my info may not be accurate. You can find this stuff online if you need to though.

Beginning spoiler now:

I think this should be far enough.

If you'll recall, the planet Vegeta had two races of beings, the Saiya jin and another one that had superior weaponry which kept the Saiyajin at bay until a rare full moon caused them to tranform into their giant monkey forms. Well, there were some survivors, and they created a being (don't know if it's an android or something like that) to seek out any and all Saiyans and kill them in revenge for massacring them. Of course this leads the creation Bebi to find Goku and co while they are in space returning home to Earth. Bebi has this ability to take over someone's body (through a seed or mind possession, I'm not quite sure) and of course he takes over different characters like Pan, Piccolo (I'm assuming), and Vegeta. You might see the name Bebi Vegeta if you read online. Several fights ensue.

After the Bebi saga there are others, though probably not in this order, such as the Super 17 android saga and the Il Shenlong saga. In the super 17 saga, android 17 from DBZ is merged with another android 17 created in hell by some evil scientists to kill Goku. It's here that we see SS4 Goku. From the clips I've seen, Goku has a tough go at it with Super 17, which makes me wonder how he would have faired in DBZ if he had fought 17.

I think the evil Shenlong is the last saga. It involves the dark star balls (or is it the original set) being corrupted from so many negative wishes. For each negative wish, an evil dragon appears and the others have to fight it. It's during this saga that SS4 Goku and SS4 Vegeta fuse to form SS4 Gogeta. That's all I want to say, for saying anymore would be a total spoiler to the end of the series, and you don't want that do you :p . I hope this was semi informative. I'll try to find a page that has a summary of the sagas and post a link here later because my harddrive is nearly depleted and everything is running slow.

I knew most of that from reading about GT on-line. But I just wanted to let you know there's another way to post spoilers.

Look Ma! It's a spoiler! :p

Just type in [ spoiler] [ /spoiler] around whatever you want to say. Or you can just hit the "spoiler" button (located under where you post the subject title).

Here's another reason GT sucks.
They killed off Piccolo and then they sent him to HELL!! Piccolo did it to help Goku, but the least they could have done was have them let Piccolo go down temporarily to take care of 17. This pissed off very many fans.

uhh.......that happened in the first season as well, and no one complained. Also, like in latter DBZ, the mentioned character is too weak to fight these super strong villians, so they don't serve much of a purpose anyway.

All I've heard about GT is that it gets better in the end.

:) Hey! Just remember, in the Dragonball universe, Hell is dominated by two idiots Goku beat before he even trained with King Kai! I think it's safe to assume the character we're talking about has made hell feel like "home" for himself. LOL

Are you telling me that the God of the Earth made hell feel like home for himself? Yeah right. And don't bring up Jesus. He's irrelavent.

Piccolo WASN'T god at the time. Dende was.:p Besides, Piccolo was also the Demon King, wasn't he? So hell is no different than any place else for a warrior like Piccolo.

I think you're taking Dragonball's version of hell waaaay too seriously. Think about it, in the DB universe, hell has yellow puffy clouds, and two giant red and blue monsters that have the brains of a four year old. So "hell" is no different from earth in the dragonball world: Yellow clouds, giant monsters, and for Goku, martial arts tournaments and all he can eat!

Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks :) . Sometimes I just ignore a lot of the buttons at the top. Wow, there's color text [list], list options, numbering, imaging....and to think some places make you pay for this stuff like IGN.

I've seen a bit of GT(4 random episodes) and it's good...In Japan the reason people say the first 23 sucked is because those episodes are more DB-ish and the fans wanted more DBZ, so at this point the series shifted and had everyone come home so that the show could be more like DBZ and thats what happened..Honestly the show is good al;l around if you dig both DB and DBZ and aren't expecting another DBZ Type Series at first.

I mean Trunks Cross Dresses during one of those 23 episodes for Kami's Sakes.
