DBZ Intro

The one for the Android/Cell saga was much better than the current one. It actually had music in it, unlike this one, which is way too random.

This is a sketchy outline of the intro:

(music starts, it is the coolest music ever, simple yet cool; there is a shot of the Absolution)

(A screen inside the ship shows Trunks and Goku turning super saiyan at the same time, it looks and sounds really cool)

Vegeta: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! (he is at the top of a cliff)

(really cool music, shots of Piccolo and Krillin)

Trunks: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! (this is a reply to Vegeta's yell)

(cool music continues)

(shots of the characters... Android 18 being punched into the air, Goku swings his arm down and sends Android 20 into the dust, and a variety really cool shots of the characters fighting, with the music in the background)

Vegeta: I am prince of all saiyans once again! (opens his palm)

(music comes to a dramatic finish, with drumming, and the "Dragonball Z" sign comes up, then the lights flash and the intro ends)


This is a really simple outline of the intro, but even from this you can tell that it is way better than the current one.

The least Toonami and/or Funimation could do is to restore the music and the rythminc shots of the characters, with less corny stuff and more action.

You're right, I liked the older intro myself. But I guess since the majority of episodes in the new season are corny (saiyaman, gohan in high school) the intro has to reflect that. But its okay, I like those scenes too, the comedy is probably a little more than half the reason I watch the show.

I think about the only thing I like about this new DBZ promo is the end shot where Piccolo does his eye trick and blows up all the cameras. Kinda sad how the intro sucks yet the Toonami trailer (not the crappy Peter Cullen one) is friggin cool and one of the best I've seen come from Toonami. What would be even nicer is if they used the original openings but I'd rather have them use the Rock the Dragon intro. rather than Funi's new intro XP

If they'd use the music from the Androids/ Cell opening with the Buu footage, I'd be a happy man.

I'd be happy if they got rid of the intros and used the Japanese version's opening.

The japanese version is 1:30 long. Most intros to shows stateside are only 1:00, so they'd have to trim it if they did use it, and that wouldn't be good. But I am open to them playing the original intros during another Midnight Run Special Edition. If they used all the orig intros to all the Toonami shows that have been on from past to present (and considering that many of the anime shows have multiple openings), there is at least 15 to 30 minutes worth of stuff, if not more. Show all the old promos, some new music vids, and you got a 45 minute show right there.

Yes, that's also what I was thinking, the Android/Cell saga intro music and footage from the Buu saga, with the dramatic finish being a shot of Goku as a Super Saiyan 3.

Funimation doesn't make the intros people...Toonami does...
