Greetings Folks!

I'm considering producing an episode of ToonHeads entitled, "Gangster Toons."

I want to show mob cartoons with caricatures of famous WB movie stars like Edward G. Robinson, James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart, etc...

I think "Thugs with Dirty Mugs" and Racketeer Rabbit" are a-must, but I'm undecided about the third cartoon....

Here is my list.
Add to it if you would like...

Thugs with Dirty Mugs 1939 MM:TA *
Racketeer Rabbit 1946 LT:FF *
Golden Yeggs 1950 MM:FF
Catty Cornered 1953 MM:FF
Bugs and Thugs 1954 LT:FF
Baby Buggy Bunny 1954 MM:CJ
Bugsy and Mugsy 1957 LT:FF
The Unmentionables 1963 MM:FF

What about the 1931 classic "One More Time?" It's WB's first gangster cartoon. It should be broadcasted on the show!

Mr.GAK -

I'M A BIG SHOT NOW (1936)MM Freleng -
Is an early gangster themed cartoon, almost a cartoon remake of Cagney's Public Enemy.

PORKY'S DOUBLE TROUBLE (1937)LT Tashlin -
Porky's double happens to be The Killer" a
mobster who escapes from jail and steals Porky's identity, In a Dillinger-esque ending, it is Petunia who brings the gangster to justice. This is the first cartoon I thought of when I read your question.

And, since I have your ear, you must at least show a CLIP of Rocky and Muggsy.
And I'd love to see BABY BUGGY BUNNY, but if you have to cut it - PLEASE - don't run it!

Whoops, forgot ONE more, non-Warner cartoon
JERRY'S COUSIN (1951) HB - MGM
Jerry's Bogart-voiced cousin Muscles comes to his relative's aid. At one point, Tom even calls out the CAT mob to battle Muscles.

Well, Queenie calls 'Murder Inc.' to "black out So White." in "Coal Black and the Sebben Dwarves," but I think it's safe to assume that's one gangster scene that isn't going to make it onto the show. :(

My list, if I were doing this one, would be:

"One More Time"
"I'm a Big Shot Now"
"Racketeer Rabbit" (and I mean UNCUT (no jump-cut in the gunfire scene), if you can't do that, then use "Thugs with Dirty Mugs" as an alternative.)
"Catty Cornered"
"Bugs and Thugs"

Not much point having Rocky in this new episode considering the've already covered him in the Toonheads episode 'Rocky and Mugsy' which featured things like Golden Yeggs and Bugs and Thugs.

Edward G. Robinson is caricatured in "Hush My Mouse."

I think you guys are missing the point of GAK's post: he's looking for gangster cartoons WITH CARICATURES of movie stars who played gangsters. That lets out the first cartoon, One More Time, as there's no caricature that I'm aware of. Hush My Mouse is a good possibility, because it has the parody of Robinson as well as a parody of the radio show, Duffy's Tavern.

My choice for third cartoon would be I'm a Big Shot Now because it parodies gangster movies generally and George Raft specifically in the lead villain and thus fits in perfectly with Thugs With Dirty Mugs and Racketeer Rabbit. It's a perfect triptych (look it up).

Once I heard that there was an early Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoon about caricature gangsters (not "The Prison Panic", I think it was called "Hot Feet" or something along those lines.
