I hope they show the garfield one!

I don't think anyone has the rights to show the Garfield Xmas special this year.

I want to see that Opus special "A Wish for Wings That Work". I had it recorded on tape, but the tape is pretty worn out.

I would love to see:

The Garfield X-Mas special
For Better or for Worse X-Mas special
It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas
It's a Wonderful Life (it's a movie, but I just had to mention it!)
The Nutcracker (Disney used to show this cool adaption to the Nutcracker for a few years...they haven't shown it for like 3 years now, maybe they'll be nice and show it this year).
Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July (I loved this one!)

I have most of the other Rankin/Bass X-Mas specials on tape, so I won't list them.

Oh, how could I forget about that one?! I haven't seen that in AGES, and I don't want to get the DVD/VHS because it was edited for some reason.

Santa Vs. The Snowman, with Jonathan Winters and Ben Stein. A 3D version has been in IMAX theatres for the last few holiday seasons and is available on DVD.

Anyone remember the show that aired just before in the sole TV appearance for both? Ozzy the Online Elf?

I have the DVD for the Claymation Christmas Special and watch it regularly. And I would love to get DVDs of The Raccoons Christmas special and The Bear Who Slept Through Christmas (Currently have decrepit VHS copies). And I would really, really love any form of The Night The Animals Talked.

PS: The Garfield Christmas show is available on DVD:

http://www.amazon.com/Garfield-Celebrations-Garfields-Thanksgiving-Christmas/dp/B0002PYS74/sr=1-1/qid=1164995256/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-6090096-5203358?ie=UTF8&s=dvd

And that's probably the only way you'll get to see it.

The one Christmas special that I'm shocked hasn't surfaced on at least Nicktoons or Boomerang:

A Tattertown Christmas

"George and the Christmas Star"; Still the best (and non-cliche) Christmas special I've ever seen.

Muppet Family Christmas
The Christmas Toy

Exactly what I was going to write. I haven't seen these on TV in years. The best I've got are some super old VHS from when they aired for the first time in the 80s. I know at least one of them is on DVD, but I keep hearing that it's edited. It just isn't Christmas if I haven't watched them.

Specials I like:

Mickey's Christmas Carol (one of the best specials I've ever seen)

Specials I try to watch at least once in December, or it's not Christmas:

A Charlie Brown Christmas
Garfield's Christmas
Muppet Christmas Carol (not cartoon, but oh well)

I'd like to see that snowman special from the 80s where a snowman takes a kid to some sort of snowy place, and there are many other snowmen, and they party. It's just the music and the animation was flawlessly beautiful..:crying:

It's just not Christmas without How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Chuck Jones + Boris Karloff was a match made in cartoon heaven. And that song.........

You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch
You really are a heel
You're as cuddly as a cactus
You're as charming as an eel
Mr. Griiiiiiinch....
You're a bad banana with a
Greasy black peel.

It don't get no better than that, folks

To make a long story short, it had to do with music rights.

There are two specials I would love to see:

1.) "The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus" - a claymation/puppet special of how Santa Claus was raised by elves as a child and was based off the books who were written by the same author of the "Wizard of Oz". Good story, excellent singing, and it's not everyday you see demons die horrifically over a war for Christmas.:p

2.) "Pinky and the Brain Christmas Special" - this is one of the few cartoons that still makes me cry. Get to the part where Brain is reading Pinky's letter to Santa at the end and you'll see what I mean. Heck, if you think about it...

The was probably the one chance Brain's plan to take over the world ever worked, and he gave it all up.

Hopefully, if not shown on mainstream TV, I can find the DVDs.

The Walt Disney version of A Christmas Carol 's a beaut I don't mind seeing over an over. Ditto Rankin-Bass' Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer (Yukon Cornelieus is cool! LOL!) And that traditional fave, How the Grinch Stole Christmas narrated by Boris Karloff.

The Small One, you don't really know its a christmas cartoon until the very end. I haven't seen it in years but I do know its somewhere in the storage boxes.

There was also a Darkwing Duck Christmas Special I haven't seen in a while, I think it involved Bushroot using Christmas trees to take over St. Canard or something like that.

And of course A Charlie Brown Christmas. Haven't seen that in a while either, one of these days I need to buy the dvd.

They really need to make a movie theater adaptation of Jingle Jingle Jangle. Make it longer, and add more humor. Viola! A blockbuster Christmas movie!:D

Well an edited DVD is better than nothing. I still enjoy watching that one with my mom every year. It has been a while since any channel has played 'Mickey's Christmas Carol.' I have the Garfield special on DVD so I can't complain there.

I think that is what he is talking about. I don't see how it could be longer.
