I finally saw the Batman episode Girls Night Out today. I know that it's an old episode...but that's the first time I have ever saw it. Every time I tried to see it when it was on before I missed it. Same with "Holiday Knights." Haven't seen it yet either. That's the only episode of Batman I haven't seen. This is what I thought about Girls Night Out: It was a good episode...and it was just as I expected...barely focusing on Batman at all, just like the "Batgirl Returns" episode. Not that I mind though. It was two against three (as far as heroes vs. villains go) and I thought that Harley was completely worthless in this episode. The only thing she was good for was comic releif. And Supergirl didn't seem as strong as she did on Superman, however even on Superman she was a lot weaker than Supes. Still...I think that's a little inconsistent. But all and all. A fun episode. Although it was kind of silly that Livewire couldn't get one shot at Batgirl but on the Superman episodes she always got Superman. But I guess since Batgirl isn't invulnerable like Supes, they didn't want her to get shocked...or it woulda killed her. But still...it was just a tad rediculous. One of my favorite lines in the episode was when Poison Ivy said: "She tries so hard..." That was funny. I liked the part with the Penguin too. I think that episode could have made a good spin-off show with Supergirl and Batgirl, but too bad, the closest they came to that was the internet's "Gotham Girls" show. But still, I heard that Timm and co. did have plans once there for a while to make a Supergirl show...but it never fell though.

Well, Batgirl dodges...Superman stands there like a dolt.
I dunno, I'm of mixed opinions on this ep...cause while I enjoy the ep...I dislike the characterization of just about everyone.
Harley like you said is made to be soley comic relief...
Batgirl is too "Girly" IMO, and looked WAY to small driving the Batmobile...
Livewire was Livewire...but I don't see her as the team player type...although she did Team up with Parasite...though I think continuity wise the Parasite ep happened 1st...which really begs the question as to why she'd risk teaming up again.
We needed Montoya yelling at them, rather than Bullock...it would have prompted a diffrent response...and it would have been a diffrent attack..but it would have made the ep betterer.

That's just what i like about her! She's girlish, indeed. But she is also very intelegent in TNBA. And i think that that is a perfect combination.
Also, Babs just happens to be a short girl. In Sub-Zero you see her bio. She's 5'3".

I thought this was a ridiculous choice to put in the Batman vs. Superman lineup. Batman played a nonexistent role in the story and it was followed by ANOTHER Livewire teamup episode anyway. This episode is far from accurately representing Batman's motives and lifestyle. A spinoff would be an insult.
I noticed Livewire's electricity shocks had the same effect on humans as it did on Kryptonians. Is she regulating her power? Is there some scientific explanation behind the effects of electricity on all life forms? Is it an oversight?
I was getting a little tired of Livewire by the end of the second episode. If Cartoon Network wanted to establish a theme today (as they have with all the episode pairings this week -- Monday was villains who try to destroy the world to fit their liking, Tuesday was heroes having to fight with severe handicaps, Wednesday was villains who disturb peace for the sake of humor), they should've used the original Harley & Ivy teamup episode. The teamup theme would've remained intact, Livewire wouldn't have worn out her welcome, Batman would've made more than a cameo, and we'd even have gotten to see the Joker again.
At least that's what I would've done. Either way, I'm just glad these shows are on.

Oh, and in terms of voice work, the characters of Harley and Livewire were absolutely great. They really brought life to the episode and kept it entertaining.

Nowhere near as cute, lovely, and adorable as Batgirl's voice.
I really hated the "Tank Girl" sound of LiveWire's voice, but it works with the character.

That's because Livewire is played by Lori Petty, "Tank Girl" herself. Cool, eh?
I've also got mixed feelings about this episode. It did entertain for me, but at times it seemed like it was trying to be an episode of "The View." Here I'm thinking of the part where Batgirl and Supergirl are comparing their lives... "Chores? I always wanted to do chores!" Ack. Overall, it didn't really hold that special, "epic" meeting of the superpowers as World's Finest and Knight Time did.

The part that got me the most was the overly steroetypical and cliched ending of Batgirl and Supergirl sitting on a couch, eating ice cream (I think), and intheir robes. I just found this to be a graner. This is definatly not one of my favorite episodes becuase it plays off so one-dimensional for the characters. And Livewire? Ugh...someone needs to turn her power (ie: mouth) off. Whole there were a few neat animation sequences,, on whole this episode lacked. And the "Ah, geeze - I always wanted chores" line was just...bad. I live on a farm Batgirl...trust me...you don't want to do chores!
And I agree Temrinath, Harley & Ivy would be the better pick.

One thing I loved about the episode is when Batgirl flies out of the roof of the Batmobile, escaping from Livewire in the beginning, we get to hear her old theme music from B:TAS. Yay!
I really don't like the idea of anyone but Batman driving the Batmobile though... Doesn't she have a motorcycle or something?
And did anyone find it way lame when Babs said she would rather live on a farm than in Gotham? Yuk! Early to bed, early to rise? You've gotta be kidding me!

Another thing I didn't like (sorry if it sound slike I'm just bashing the episode ad nausuem) was how they degraded Harley's character. They made her a punchline when she's proven in other episodes (Mad Love) that she's so much more. She was just a punchline with a mallet in this episode and itr just wasn't right.

But the B:TAS episode "Mad Love" came after "Girls Night Out." So it doesn't really matter.

If you wanna get all technical, you can say MAD LOVE took place before "Girls Nite Out", which it sorta did - since the comic book was released in 1994. But the adapation just aired later. Still, the comment still holds up. They use her poorly here, when they've used her better in episodes like Mad Love.

Thanks for taking this, Mad Hatter. I'm sure that this gripe came up before (probably not on this board, but it definitely came up somewhere!), and I explained it.
Personally, I loved "Girls Night Out". I'll admit, I'm not as much into the comics and all as the rest of you, so I might sound ridiculous, but I enjoyed it.

I didn't like "Girls' Night Out". The episode was too hokey and seemed like an excuse just to put Batgirl and Supergirl together.

I enjoyed it: it was a good change of pace, and I really like both Batgirl and Supergirl, so it was a good chance to see them. I wish that they had gotten more into their character in that time they wasted with the "grass is always greener" crap, but I just enjoyed the episode- although I agree Livewire got pretty annoying near the end.
Harley's portayal was pretty weak, I agree. I mean, she singlehandedly captured and almost killed Batman in Mad Love, and all of a sudden she's the incompident handicap of Ivy and Livewire. She was pretty funny though, and other than that, I basically enjoyed the episode.
