View Full Version : One of the weirdest vintage Looney Tunes items I've ever seen...

Check this out: a 1940's placemat featuring Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, and Sniffles?! It has a cutesy rhyme and song, but the image of Bugs milking a cow is too funny to pass up a look at!

That's great! I love how Sniffles is as big as Elmer!

I like that, though what I'd really like to eventually get is a ceramic figure, or one of the metal biggybanks, planters, or sets of bookends.

Sniffles was very much considered a major character of Merrie Melodies (like Bugs was, but not quite), and was heavily merchandised in the same ways. Making him as big as Bugs and Elmer was a little odd, though...

The Bugs looked like a combination between Clampett's Bugs and Ben Hardway's Bugs and you're right it's odd that Sniffles was made so big.:p

It's a proven fact that studios make their smaller characters look too big on merchandise. I saw a "Casper & Friends" lunchbox from the 60s (I only saw two images of it), and Buzzy the crow was almost as big as Little Audrey! There's also a picture on the official Harvey site that has Herman half as tall as Katnip!

I liked that item too.

That is really weird and silly. It would take a fool to buy that, or a wacky collector.

Well, at least we now know Hippety Hopper was not Warner Bros' first giant mouse. ;)

Wow, those are interesting. Pretty weird though. My theory is they are from an alternate dimension where Disney made the Looney Tunes. :p

Strange....
On the "Friday" placemat, there is a tiny mouse near Porky, and then on the other side is super-size Sniffles :p !
Also, why is Pentunia on these things when she wasn't even in cartoons anymore  ?

Petunia was very big in the Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies and Porky Pig comics. Her many appearances in them almost gave her the same star power as Bugs or Porky.

It looks like Bugs is saying something in every picture. I'll bet I know what Bugs is trying to say in the one where they're doing garden work, "Eh, Sniffles have you been drinking da 'Quick Grow' lately?":p

Welllllll that gigantic "mother of all rodents" Sniffles would be the most likely explanation for what was chewing on the box of a Columbia Barney Google cartoon I bought... :) :bosko:  :D
