Hmm... since "10 years ago" stretches back to 1996 (to the dawn of the Kids' WB and Cartoon Network eras), I'll make mine (in no particular order):

- Animaniacs
- Pinky and the Brain
- The New Batman/Superman Adventures
- SpongeBob SquarePants
- The Powerpuff Girls

-B.

1 Adventures of Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius
2. Avatar the Last AirBender
3. Danny Phantom
4. Invader Zim
5. Rugrats season 1-4
6. Rocko's Modern Life
7. Ahh Real Monsters

That's all that I liked in the current years of my life. I would have Charile Brown up there but I didn't know whether or not that should count seeing as how its a very old show and not from this time.

I don't get it. Are we listing our favorite shows targeted towards kids in the past 10 years, or the most popular kids show in terms of fan base?

Noah's Island
Hey, I remember that show!

Why isn't Dragonball Z on any lists? It was pretty popular too!

I don't see much of a way to tabulate the top 5 animated shows of the last ten years by something other than statistics that doesn't have some subjective bias to it. I mean, I couldn't even begin to describe what I'd hold to be my top 5, but that's not what's being asked. It's more in terms of general popularity, which is hard to gauge without a book of percentages handy.

Interesting question though. Might have to research a bit on an answer, mind.

I probably would have added Dragon Ball Z to my list, but since it wasn't made in the last 10 years (1996-2006), I didn't put it on my list.

These are the shows I always hear kids talking about (since I work with them everyday) consistantly for the past 10 years.

1. Sponge Bob Square Pants
2. Pokemon
3. DC Hero shows (Batman TAS-Superman-Batman Beyond-Justice League- JLU, I count all of them together because they all sort of piggyback and advance the next)
4. Tiny Toons (influenced the creation of many other WB shows like Anamaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, ect)
5. Gargolyes (spawned an amazing online fanbase and changed what you thought Disney toons were, cause I know when it first came on I was shocked to learn it was a Disney show)

Honorable Mention Dragon Ball Z, mainly because it's techincally older than and was around prior to the past 10 years, but it's influence can't be ignored.

Kids shows, dropping everything I like from Anime and Toonami. Ten years is about my span and feel the shows have really gotten better in the last few years.
Avatar, The Last Airbender.
Kim Possible
Code Lyoko/WITCH - I like them both about equal so one can't really nudge out the other
Oban Star Racers
The Life and Times of Juniper LeeBuzz Lightyear of Star Command- is very close to making this list as is Jackie Chan Adventures and Xiaolin Showdown. and surprizing to me, though they are fairly new, two I/E from Qubo aren't far off. Jacob TwoTwo and Jane and the Dragon They have different yet good animation and very nice stories, even at my age.

Chronicles of Redwall That is good, but it was aimed a little young for me to enjoy the stories
I don't get it. Are we listing our favorite shows targeted towards kids in the past 10 years, or the most popular kids show in terms of fan base? it would most likely be "favorites", fanbase is a demographics numbers game. Which would just be a list of Nicktoons that made it to going on a T-shirt :p In the end though, even this list will get sifted down to SpongeBob and four CartoonCartoons.

Hmmm, this is a really tough question. To me the top 5 would have to be:

1. SpongeBob SquarePants. The fact that this show is able to attract a universal audience helps it reach this spot. Plus, it's one of the few shows from the last few years that doesn't depend on pop culture jokes to get a laugh. It manages to be funny in its own wacky way.

2. Justice League Unlimited. Okay so its not really that much of a kids show but it was advertised as one. Even so, it has some of the best writing I've ever seen on tv and you actually had a feel for the characters. Plus it had a great sense of continuity.

3. Avatar: The Last Airbender. Again, this show has some solid writing and interesting characters. I really can't find any character I dislike. I also love the use of asain culture and mythology and the different forms of martial arts used for different benders.

4. The Powerpuff Girls. This is what happens when you get 2 talented cartoon geniuses running a show. It's funny and cute at the same time. It's one of the few "girl shows" I'm not afraid of admitting I like.

5. Cow and Chicken. It's more of a personal favorite, but I just find it really hard for someone to watch this show and not be amused. Plus, The Red Guy has to be one of the greatest cartoon characters ever.
