Is there a list of incompatible PS1/2 games yet?

You know what I mean....for the PS3. The news made the claim tonight that several games had been confirmed to either have odd quirks or not work at all. What's the extent of the backwards compatibility?

I don't have much faith in Sony. When they came out with their Incompatible PS1 Games list I owned three of the listed games, so I had to keep a PSOne. I haven't heard the list for this go-round yet, but let me guess: Gitaroo Man doesn't work, right? :sad:

Well IGN (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/745/745439p1.html) has a short list of games that are compatible and a link to a japanese search engine where you can find the games you want to know about. Beware is in japanese.

Valkyrie Profile 1 and 2 don't work and neither does Tekken 5

everything else is Japanese Exclusives IIRC


VP1 is undertsandable, the discs they used to print the game wasn't the same grade as the majority of PS1 games. I'm not sure if Tri-Ace used different quality discs for their Ps2 games or something though, allthough considering that pretty much all of the Tr-Ace PS2 games are on the list, it seems likely so.

allthough I've got 4 out of 5 of these games on PS1/PS2(I got the PSP version of VP1)

it's a very small number for American Audiances, patches could definetly be worked on and put out quicker.

Allthough IF memory serves me correct Final Fantasy Anthologies and Chronicals did not work for the ps2 originally and Harvest Moon BTN had a few graphic glitches

Unfortunetly the original VP was printed on an inferior disc grade, reason why I waited for the PSP version rather than buying the original, if you got it it may not even be a working copy. I'm not sure that VP2 was printed on an inferior disc grade rather than just a different disc grade. DVDs seem to be better built and last longer than CDs. So I wouldn't be all that concered about VP2 becoming non-functional, and the original VP has been re-issued on the PSP and can be easily found. I'm not sure if it's on the PS1 Download list though.

Allthough the disc won't degrade over time if you take care of it, I've got CDRs and CDRWs that have lasted 7 years and still work

Nothing but a good ol' swap disk counldnt do, or a mod chip.

Mmm, my anthology works just fine for the PS2, i got mine Dec of 01, so they probably fixed the gliches in that system.

If Guitar Hero doesn't work and will never work, I'm never buying a PS3.

If Gitaroo Man doesn't work then I'll just buy it for the PSP. :sweat:
