Do you think Sega could re-release the 1992 Sega CD game Night Trap in a remake version for PS3/PS2, Wii, and/or X-Box 360?

No.

A: They don't own the rights.

B: The company that does went belly up years ago.

It has been rereleased for PC and 3D0 with better video quality, but I loved Double Switch better. R. Lee Ermey played Lyle the Handyman which was the coolest thing ever.

BTW here's the ending for Night Trap if you betray that girl you were working with.

Digital Pictures used such a simple design of gameplay using just interface and cutscenes. Even if each game cost a lot to film it was worth it in the end in terms of real quality. Double Switch was one of my favorite underated titles for the Sega CD/Saturn.

That was the first great flash I've seen come from Newgrounds (that wasn't David Flirth or Adam Phillips) in a long time. Yet it was missing my favorite part from the game nobody ever remembers:

"Hi Fred. Bye Fred. Tell me when you want to die, Fred!"

Re-release Night Trap and open to a new audience! Get some bigger name actors and actresses to accompany it too. :D Then do what they did with Texas Chainsaw Massacre and make a prequel to a remake. :)

Heh, I doubt that would happen. Maybe bring back Sewer Shark (that game came with my Sega CD!) :D Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, AND Sega, take notes, bring these games to Xbox Arcade, the Virtual Console, and/or whatever Sony's download service is called! :) The world needs FMV games again!

Mainstream gamers hate those types of games, but love a lot of non realistic 3D garbage they claim to be more in reality.

Yeah I'd love to see more games come back in this tradition and to be honest I want to make one like this when I become a Game Designer. It's the easiest thing to program and code since all you have to do is build an interface. The sets used in games like Double Trap really looked swank for something that wasn't ment for theaters.

I love FMV games and I wanted to like Nightrap and Double Switch, but the style of gameplay made it difficult for me to get into them. It was just too much to handle, watching all the rooms and trying to be in the right place at the right time. I felt like a one-legged man in an asskicking contest.

I find it easier to play the more linear, easy to follow animated Sega CD FMV games like Road Avenger, Wirehead and Time Gal.

i actually spent almost 2 years talking to tom zito (former ceo of digital pictures), james riley (creator/director of night trap) and a canadian based dvd company which produced games like dragon's lair. unfortunately this game/film still has roots with hasbro (as well as other intellectual property owners), and since hasbro sees night trap as a black sheep, they were anything but helpful trying to help us secure the rights to publish. it really sucks because james still had all of the original film in place & ready to go. if anyone has any other helpful information or suggestions, please email me :) sdbyrd@hotmail.com

thanks!

I don't mind FMV games, I find them to be unique...but yes I am aware of the limitations of the genre
