Saw a movie yesterday with Tim. Called something like "Seven girlfriends". Anyway, he has the build and looks to play a more modern Superman.

I don't know about that. He's no Christopher Reeve. The movie needs someone bigger and younger, like Tom Welling. But I'd have misgivings casting anyone from a Superman TV show in the movie, because they're two different things.

The only time I've seen Tim Daly was on a Stephen King made for TV movie. He looked pretty well built. He may not have been particularly tall though. I'd definitely give him a shot to play the real Superman, as we all know, he's at least got the voice down.

The only other thing I saw him in was the now defunct "The Fugitive" TV series. Not entirely certain, but I believe it was the project that prevented him from doing JL. Too bad it only last a season.

He starred in the NBC sitcom Wings for 8 seasons as Joe Hackett. The series is in syndication on the USA network.

I'd just like to add that I think he is as definitively the voice of Superman as Kevin Conroy is definitively the voice of Batman, and it's a depressing split-second every time I hear Superman talk on Justice League and I realize it's not him.

I agree with you 100%! Tim Daly will always be the ultimate Superman voice, and George Newburn will never be able to fill his shoes.

I think that's a little harsh...Tim Daly is great (no doubt about it), but I think George Newburn is doing a good job so far on JL. He's no Tim Daly, but I still think he's sounding good as Supes...except for during Secret Origins......

Sorry,Braniac, but I have to disagree. I don't think it's harsh at all,if George Newbern isn't good as the voice of Superman ,you have to say it like it is. Hopefully, he'll get better, but for now he just sounds horrible.

I prefer Daly, but I think Newburn is good and probably the best replacement possible since he does sound similar to Daly. At least they didn't cast the guy who did Superman's voice on Batman Beyond. That guy sounded nothing like Daly!! I wonder, if Newburn was the original voice on S:TAS, and Daly was the new guy on JL, do you think people would be saying Daly is terrible and Newburn will always be Superman's true voice?

No,we'd be saying,"What an improvement!"

It doesn't matter who was the original voice *shudders at the thought of Newbern being the original voice*. What matters is who sounds better, and Daly sounds better-alot better!!

I remember Tim Daly best from "Wings," which is my favorite TV sitcom of all time. So when I heard he would be doing the voice of Superman in STAS, I thought immediately that it could work. On "Wings," he played a pilot with boyscout qualities and charm, and a favorite among the community... kinda like Superman. Listening to George Newbern took some time to get used to. It was obvious that it wasn't Daly in the JL premiere. I did get used to his voice during "In Blackest Night." About half the time, I even forgot that it was Daly, but I didn't care. I knew it wasn't Daly's voice, but it wasn't sticking out in my head predominantly for it to bother me. Now, I think if they had to replaced Daly with someone, Newbern wasn't a bad choice.

As for Daly playing Superman in live action. Like others said, I can hear him as the voice, but he doesn't look quite like Superman as how I would imagine. I think it could be because I still look at Daly as Joe Hackett when I see him on screen.

I don't think he could "act" as Superman. But I loved his voice for the blue boy.

I never liked Tim Daly as Superman. I thought he did a fine job, but I couldn't get past the fact that it was Tim Daly, because I had watched Wings regularly. On the other hand, Kevin Conroy was still relatively unknown when he started as Batman, and he is the voice of Batman in my head when I read the comics now!

Can you imagine if Kevin Conroy declined to do the voice of Batman on JL?? Now THAT would have been distracting!

Don't even depress me like that...it's bad enough having a new Superman voice to get used to...but if both heroes had different voices!!??! That would have sucked!!
