View Full Version : Idea for a Columbia House tape

Since Columbia House has been able to tap into WB's vaults to get Blue Ribbons with original titles, why don't they take all their original title cartoons (and any other ones they can get) and put them all on one tape? They could call it "Theater Originals" or something like that. That's the only way they'd get any of MY business anyway.
Are there enough for a tape? I don't know how many have been restored. I can only think of about seven, unless they have access to a non BR print of "Book Revue" (the title theme was featured in "That's All Folks!") and "Fifth Column Mouse."
I think it's a great idea, though. Maybe even good for a DVD release.

Pour dire franchement, si ces versions Blue Ribbon sont en version originale avec les crédits, c'est que la version du film date de... 1997. Je crois pas que ça soit une bonne idée. Mais voici une idée oubliée de la part de la Columbia House:
CRAZY FACE (Frank Tashlin)
"Have You Got Any Castles?"
"Brother Brat"
"The Major Lied Till Dawn"
"A Tale of Two Mice"
"Behind the Meatball"
"Porky's Poultry Plant" - B&W
"Swooner Crooner"
"Unruly Hare"
"Plane Daffy"
"Now That Summer is Gone"
"Scrap Happy Daffy" - B&W
"Porky Pig's Feat" - B&W

To frankly say, if these versions Blue Ribbon are in original version with the appropriations, it is that the version of film goes back to... 1997. I do not believe that that is a good idea.
Unfortunately the translator on the board isn't very good, so I don't quite get what you said (sorry  ).
edit:
I made a list of all the cartoons I know of that have "officially" been de-ribbonized:
A Wild Hare
Hiawatha's Rabbit Hunt
Hop Look and Listen
Kit For Cat
Scaredy cat
The Foghorn Leghorn
...and those whose title's show up on Jerry Beck's page (but haven't been released or anything on video, I think they come from private collections):
Cross Country detours
Pigs in A Polka
Fifth Column Mouse
Have You Got Any Castles
September in the Rain
He also has the title to "Katnip Kollege," posted, but it's really a scan/picture of the real title card art, not a screen grab from the title sequence (which is what I presume the others are).
Another good cartoon to add to such a collection would be "Prince Violent."

Don't forget "Bone Sweet Bone", that was probably one of the first ones to get the treatment.
