What do you think are the stupidest, most annoying, awful commericals ever made? Here are my picks:
The Shirley Temple Video Set 1-800 Commerical
The Rocket Power Alarm Clock 1-800 Commerical
Those "Lose Weight Fast" 1-800 Commericals
The ad for "The Butt-Ugly Martians" Toys
and the worst of all.....
THE 1-800 ANNE MURRAY COMMERICAL!

Wilford Brimley's diabeties commercials. Can anybody say "It can help you live a better life" sounding angrier? I don't know, I just think he's got an attitude.
And anything with the Pepsi Girl.
I know there are more, but I usually don't watch commercials, and the ones I truly hate I turn off right away. I forget which ones those are, but there have been a handful.

Whenever there's a commercial that I don't like, I just tune every thing out, and hope that the commercial doesn't implant Satanic messages in my brain, like "Buy Pepsi because my pupils overtake the rest of my eye".

Local Ads are the worst...specially car ads, cause they're generally obnoxous...
As for infomercials...I LIKE them...it's a 1/2 hour where I don't have to do anything...=D

I hate Hooked on Phonics commercials. The kids just get on my nerves so bad! There's this one kid who they talk to and his eyes really freak me out. Everytime one of those commercials come on I run for the remote to turn it on mute. Has anyone seen those Progresso soup commercials or whatever brand they are? I hate those because all the people do is insult the others for not eating that brand. I see people have already mentioned that horrible Pepsi child...There are more, but I can't think of them right now.

I'll have to agree on pretty much everything said so far. Especially Carrot Top. I thought we were RID of him, finally! But no. He has to be in those awful commercials now. Does ANYONE like Carrot Top? I mean really. Ugh, and Kids Bop too. I have a feeling those tykes are gonna look back on that commercial one day and be overwhelmed with a feeling of disgust and/or humiliation.
Ok, now I have to add some to the list.
Do you remember the L'Oreal Kids commercial? Oh, how I hated it! The thing that bugged me was the fact that, at the end of the commercial, the kid's are all lined up, and say, "Because we're worth it too!" ....except it's totally not the kids talking. They actually hired actors for this, to do the voices of the children. You can tell, cause the kids are horrible at miming. All they do is open their mouth a few times, to make it seem like they're talking, but it looks so fake! I know they're just kids but...AHH!
Also, I hate those "Save the Children" commercials. Lol, it probably looks like I hate children from what I've said so far....well, I do hate some of them. Anyway, I don't like these commercials for a variety of reasons. Firstly, they always seem to come on when I'm eating. I dunno. Something about an half-clothed, emaciated toddler kneeling by a puddle of urine kinda makes me lose my appetite. And they seem to like laying a guilt trip on you. I feel badly enough about my life as it is, thanks. I know it sounds awful, but in junior high, my friends (or rather, the kids I sat next to at lunch, since I had no friends) and I loved making fun of these commercials.
And I also hate commercials for religious music. *shudders* Makes me feel dirty. Whenever one comes on, I search frantically for my remote before I ignite into a ball of flames.

Oh, don't remind me! There is this HORRIBLE one I saw (for a place I actually got my first car from, btw) where at the beginning of the commercial you see the owner coming out of a porta potty on top of his dealership. I have no idea what the angle of the commercial was (flushing away prices????) but when I saw he was taking a crap on his own roof, I decided at that very instant I would never buy a car from him again.

God. Where to begin?
I'm sure if I wasn't half asleep already I could give you a fantastic list of hate, but even garbage like "Kids Bop" is fading. The absolute worst ad I know of, the one that always sends me into a blind rage, is for some Hooked on Phonics type deal.
And why? Some kid's dad comes on to say, "My child was running through the house saying 'I can read this! See? Sit down and I'll read for you!'"
Look, you dip, if you would sit down with your kid once in a while and read with them, THEY WOULDN'T NEED HOOKED ON PHONICS! ARRRRRRRRRRRRGH!
It's bad enough ads cause brain rot without encouraging bad parenting.

Ooh Carrot Top! Actually, me & my friends had a little discussion about him recently. Basically we came to the conclusion that no one, absolutely no one likes him. There's even the hockey-themed commercial making fun of him where the ref's says "2 minutes - bad acting." But ultimately, we realized he is an effective spokesperson. The hardest thing for an ad is to establish recall in people's minds. Carrot Top might not be liked, but the ads are instantly recognizable.

Some items:
1. Kids Bop is a stupid idea because every kid can download the REAL versions of these songs for free.
2. Yah, the Pepsi girl sucks, hurry up with the new Britney commercial.
3. I don't got beef with the Dell kid, but his 15 minutes might not be up -- he recently auditioned for a role in Terminator 3. He stands to be the next Orlando Jones. Which reminds me.
4. I think it's absolutely deplorable that there's a new 7UP guy. How could Orlando Jones abandon the campaign that made his career? If he wasn't so doggone funny, I might be really mad here.
5. There's a lady in the Bounty commercial who is cleaning the inside of a fishtank with a paper towel while leaning her fingerprint-leaving hand on the side of it. I've always wanted to ask her if she's some kind of idiot.
6. Probably the most ironic phenomenon in our society is that the commercial for how to get rid of annoying telemarketers is the most irritating, overplayed TV commercial ever.

Usually, the only time when commercials bother me is when they are repeated to really ridiculous lengths. The Shirley Temple and Anne Murray ones that Pietro mentioned are in this category, and the Amazing Magic Blo-Pens are getting close. But usually, I am pretty good at either ignoring commercials or just not letting them bother me.
Oh yeah, the old Old Navy commercials (is there an echo in here?) bothered me, but I don't really mind the newer ones. Same with the GAP.
The Kids music ones bother me a little, particularly the new one for classics for kids. How the hell are those songs for kids? Since when is Mozart for kids? They just realized that people would buy music for their kids and slapped a "Kids" label on the CD. Those ones are showing up on CN an awful lot.
Oh yeah, Steve from Dell is terrible too. I didn't mind the first one, but the latest one I saw was one of the most irritating things I've ever been subjected to.

-those Amazing Blow Pen commercials go on for WAY longer than they have to
-I cant stand those Subway commercials. I didnt give a damn about Jared before and I sure as hell dont care about him now
-what about that commercial for the dance video by the guy who "allegedy" taught all those pop stars to dance? Horrific!
-this past year will forever go down in history as the year of fad informercials and commercials all selling the same thing. First there was NADS/Epil Stop-and-Spray and now it appears as if there are three channels at any time of the day showing ads for the Abdominizer. Of course there have been lots of penile enlargment products this year that guilt guys in trying to change what God gave them by explaining how, in these mysterious surveys, most women are unhappy with the "size of their male partner". *The 7-Up guy. They have a new spokesman now because the other guy was "promoted"--a buzzword, I believe, for "beaten to death in an alley, drenched in gasoline, set on fire, and thrown off a bridge". ;)
*any commercial selling medications whose symptoms are ten times worse than the disease. If a drug for miagranes may cause my hair to fall out, blur my vision, make me impotent, and give me a royal case of the Hershey squirts--I'll keep the bloody headache!
*Promos for ComCent's show Beat the Geeks. I'd like to beat them--with a hammer. :wakko: ;)
*Must agree with Bud'n'Lou on what I've come to call "those g.d. starving [racial epithet]" commercials. Who wants to look at flyblown kids who look like they've been sucking rocks for two years, at any time of day?
*The chocolate milk commercial with the girl standing outside a building gargling. I don't know why, but it creeps me out.

Gromit... That was beautiful!
Well, since Old Navy & collect/long distance services & Dell have been covered, I'll add two more to the list.
Progresso Soup--Somehow, you're a lower specimen of humanity if you buy condensed soup. Since when does buying watery soup for the lazy give you bragging rights? If I ever hear some haughty woman with a nazal voice say, "CONDENSED soup?!" again in my life, I will scream.
Comcast's "Cable is Good" Ads--According to these ads, if you ever get satellite TV, the saints will cry. Sorry, but I have no respect for you, Comcast, until you pick up Boomerang as part of the regular cable line-up. And I don't care how much you say it's easy, working digital cable is a VCR-unfriendly pain in the neck!
There. I feel better.

Here's mine:
The Dell commercial: "Dude, you got a Dell!" Dude, there'll be a DENT in your face if you don't stop talking about Dell! LOL.
Campbells "Adult Soup" commercials: So what if we prefer those "less chunky" soups? Those are good, too.
Those "zoom-zoom" car commercials, and any commercials that make cars out to be these wonderful, magical objects (the one with the kid at the windmill staring into one comes to mind).
The 1-800-CALL-ATT Carrot Top commercials. *shudder*
Some local commercials can outright drive me bonkers, especially car dealerships. They can't act!
Planters Nuts commercials. You know, "squirrels don't like nuts," "penquins don't like nuts," etc. It was cute at first by now it's just outright annoying.
Infomercials that dramatize EVERYthing. In one commercial they make it out to be like making pancakes is the hardest thing you could ever attempt to do.

Anything advertising kids' CDs or videos. Even when I was 4 I didn't want that stuff!
Those two Powerpuff Girls Groovies (they advertise a show, so I will count them)
Commercials for "Barbie" and similar girls' toys.
Commercials that advertise a store going out of business. They make me sad, even if I didn't like the store.
Advertising for food. People should decide what brands to buy at the store, not while watching television.
Advertising for shows I don't like.

Ya know, for a while, I was contemplating whether or not to register in these forums, but after reading this topic, I just had to join in. Bad commercials, what are marvelous topic. Where do I start? Why not with the genital herpes one?
Well apparently in these commercials, the herpes sufferer is a hip and happenin' young chick. Quite a contrast from the average herpes sufferer which is probably a middle aged lady of the night. These commercials are more Hollywood-ized, so that you may actually want this disease so you can be as active as the people in these ads. It also shows them going canoeing through some canyon. I sure hope that river isn't part of anyone's drinking source. I sure wouldn't drink out of the tap if they were.
DR. BELCH, you are quite right about those ads for medications. I would rather suffer from a little hay fever than diarrhea, bloating, blindness, loss of breath, sexual side affects, and be a hazard to pregnant women.
And then there's "That 80's Show." FOX has been bombarding us with this for the last month or so, and you know what? It's all just 80's stereotypes. Not everyone had rock star hair and shoulder pads. And they keep playing up to that stupid portable phone gag. I get it. The technology wasn't refined back then! Sheesh. I get it it! I am *so* not going to the prom with this show.
I find those soup commercials very offensive as well. For one, they have that little trick where the word 'condensed' is written in the same font as the Campbells logo, allowing for some bashing of the competition. Then, some person is bashing their spouse or friend for eating 'little stars' but they did too, but then they 'outgrew their pajamas w/ the feet and cartoons' and moved on to adult things. The message being sent here is that being a childish person is immature and stupid. But the irony here is the ad is aired on Cartoon Network of all places. Not a good place to bash adults who watch cartoons.
Arbie's is guilty of this as well, to a point.
Speaking of CN, they do have those really long and boring commercials before Bugs & Daffy starts in the morning. How many times do I have to hear such things as:
Some mom: You want to give them your brain, and you can't and it's a killer.
and
Kid:...'They built a new city in space.' Do you want me to read it again?
Some other weird mom: Yyyes
and as don Jaime mentioned
Some dad with a strange voice imitating his kid: I'M READING! LEMME READ TO YOU! I WANT TO READ TO YOU!

I thought of one more that not only was one of my least favorite but truly scared me. It was a series of commercials done for the Half Price Store (I think they are called Gordman's now. The commercials were so bad they had to re-invent their image). It had this dorky guy following women around and asking them how much they paid for their clothes then when she would tell him, he would pull an exact duplicate of her outfit from a bag and announce he found it cheaper at the Half Price Store and say, "IT'S THE SAME THING!" There is just something dang frightening about this guy stalking women who buys clothes that matches theirs.

The one commercial that really creeps me out is the Bob Dole/Viagra ad. Hearing him talk about that is just, well..yeeeesh!! Picture that

Did anyone see the new Mentos commercial? This slut is making out w/ her boyfriend in her bedroom when her parents come home. Apparently, she's not allowed to have boys in her bedroom so she pops a Mentos into her mouth and comes up w/ this stupid***** idea about dressing her boyfriend as a girl so she won't get in trouble w/ her parents. This is the most pathetic attempt I have ever seen to promote a product towards a younger generation. "Let's make this girl look cool by making her make out in her bedroom against her parent's will. And when she pops the Mentos in her mouth, teenagers will think eating Mentos is cool because she is cool!"
I also hate commercials for breast enhancing products. Women, have a sense of pride and realize that it's your personality that makes you who you are and not your bust size! Up your *****, Newbust! (I'm not kidding, the product is called Newbust.)

I hate that 'O' entertainment commercial. I'm all for equal rights between sexes, (Although I am a little biased, I would like a traditional, slightly submissive gal...the again, she'd better be a live wire if she thinks she can handle my special blend of insanity) but I am strongly against Feminism. God, shut the hell up! Yes, Men are flawed. We like sex. We like Food. We like fun. Boo-dee-freaking hoo. We're only human. (I'd get into something about how somehow a 'sale' justifies buying something you don't need, but I won't. And yes, I do have first hand experience on the matter, with multiple subjects) Nevermind about that, just my Opinion. Anyway, those little babies all reject being girls and wearing pink, and get into some sort of super-baby masculinity movement in which Barbie doll sales will plummet, and G.I. Joe will be forced to come out with a line of G.I. Jane, or G.I. tract, or something like that. All the while playing that damn "I am strong, I am invincible, I am *Female class gender of the homo sapiens species*" song. There are only 2 things considered invincible in my mind:
1. Dick Clark
2. Mario; after coming into contact with a starman
"Doctor! The babies are revolting!"
"You can say that again! Hyuk hyuk!"
*BOOOOO*
"Dear God, they've broken into the testosterone boosters!"
*NOTE: This post is NOT meant to start a war of the sexes, simply a war against the testosterone-driven feminist super-babies. Males and Females are equal in my eyes, I'm just slightly in favor of the slightly traditional, slightly submissive female...idealamathings.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!! To quote David Spade "It made me wanna throw like a rock at like his head."
The NY Lottery commercials are the WORST now - they have people singing that "If I Had $1 Million" song by Barenaked Ladies - they play it ALL THE TIME!!!!! AAAAUUGGHH!!!! If I had a million dollars I'd buy the rights to that song and never have it play anywhere ever again.
