Yup. The new He-Man toy line was supposed to be in stores about 2 weeks before Christmas(Mattel just loves to tease us!). But, then it was postponed. Then, shortly after, they declared an Animated "movie"(Dont worry, it'll be a TV-only movie) would fit nicely. They already have the collectors money, and of course a hip new cartoon will boost prices, with kid buying them, right?
Anyway. Right now, it is ONLY a 1-hour He-Man movie(which will premier in August). And that is IT. No actual series has been anounced yet, but if the movie & toys do well, I wouldn't be suprized to see an on-going series by next Spring. :D

The new toy line is supposed to debut in June and the one hour special is supposed to air before the toys come out or very shortly after. The one hour special will tell the story of how Adam first got the sword of power and when he first became He-Man. Mattel has decided to start from scratch and do a re-telling of the 80's series rather than continue it. Mattel and the 4 Horsemen have said that all the elements from the 80's series WILL remain intact for the re-telling. I was a little upset at first upon hearing this, but now I think it's actually a better idea to do a re-telling. Today's kids might not latch onto it if it were a continuation, and I, like many other fans, want this series to be very succesful.
Mattel is going to market this thing like you can't believe. We're gonna be seeing commercials galore and all sorts of promotional tie-ins that were involved with the 80's series too. God, I can't wait!!!

I think I already saw some older He-Man toys being sold in Toys 'R' Us a while back. Me, I'm still concerned about one thing and one thing only...
Any chance to see She-Ra again? :D :p :p

Actually yes, the Four Horsemen said that if the line is succesful they will do a new She-Ra.

Then let's hope the new He-man line is successful then :D
I just read on the front page that 4Kids has the rights to Thundercats and are considering making a new series. Do you know how long I've been waiting to hear something like that? As long as it isn't "Thundercats Kids" or something like that, I'll be blissfully happy. With the show being rerun on CN, I don't think a retelling of the same story is necessary, so they could go ahead and continue with were the series left off (I don't think there was ever a conclusion).
This is shaping up to be a great year to be an animation fan.

I've been anticpating this since the past year now! Might I say, Battlecat looks more menacing and feral (not that he wasn't already ;)). An origin story would be cool since the original series never had one. I'm anticipating this so much I just hope I'm not disappointed at the end.
I think this is the best place to start looking for info about either the action figures or the one hour special.
He-Man.org (http://www.he-man.org)
A revamped She-Ra line would be cool. If that ever happens I hope they lose the girlie girl aspect of the original figures. Even better would be a She-Ra cartoon, although I don't know about how a retelling would work. Unlike He-Man, they gave her an origin story.
I was at Comic-Con in San Diego last year, and regretably, I wish I had done more research on He-Man before I went. I had no idea I was gonna go either that weekend. The He-Man booth was awesome though, and they were giving away free posters designed by Ken Kelly. He and the four horsemen were at the booth signing the posters too. At that time, I had no idea who those people were. It was only after the convention when I started looking up if other people at he-man.org went, that I found out what all the hub bub was about. :P

She-Ra is fine n' dandy n' all...but...
Have you guys seen the preview picks for Teela, yet?! Oh my...
I dunno if I'm happy with Teela's design, or not. It has the classic elements, which I like. But, she also has some weird.."anime" elements which I think kinda..make her look...odd. I'm hoping Evil-lyn will be more pleasing.

I just took a look at the new Teela. You're right about them keeping the classic elements. It's what I like about this new line, how they retain some of the old in the new designs. I also see what you mean by the anime quality. I notice it prominently in the face and the hair and I don't like that part (I don't like anime style in general). I think I would have preferred her hair in an upswept do like in the original series. That or at least without the sharp angles on her face and hair, especially her hair. Overall, I like the revamp. So far I haven't complained much about the new line. Or course I think the power sword, and battlecat's helmet could have been designed better. :p

There is a REALLY great interview that was put up a few days ago at he-man.org with the 4 Horsemen. Somewhere in the article it explains that the anime look with some of the figures comes from marketing research that Mattel had done with kids. Kids are used to seeing anime today. I don't know how many anime shows you got going on Fox and the WB, but because of that, that is why we get the somewhat anime look.
I like the new look of both Teela and Orko, but I don't like the "wind blown" hair of Teela's. Though I will be buying it and every other figure they pump out. :)

That interview was also in a recent issue of Toyfare magazine.

If things go well with the new toyline, then maybe we'll get "The Secret Of The Sword" on DVD.

It's been nice to have reissue of the He-Man toys. Great stuff - I bought Battle Armoured Skeletor last month in it's original packaging.
A new cartoon bodes as well as the last new version of the cartoon - it's the original cartoon or nothing! :D
New figures look good but they haven't the nostalgia as the original!!

I wonder if the new special will be a clip show from the oringal tv series or a totally brand new thing.
We will probably find out soon with Toy Fair coming up.

It'll be a 100% totally brand spanking new animated thing. Who wants to bet it'll be more of a 1-hour toy commercial, more than its going to be a "re-telling" of the classic story...
That made me think...remember the NEW Planet of the Apes? That was a 'retelling'....and while some of us enjoyed the ending..some....freaked out in complete horror...haha...
