Another week, another anything else thread. Will anime shows moving up on Saturday help ratings? Will Bleach be number one this week? Will Shin-Chan ever be picked up?

Well I'm glad Inuyasha is plummeting, but man that's depressing Smoking Gun is doing so well...........better than new ATHF wtf?
I seriously don't see how this show continues. In the past 2 weeks they've gone through 90% of the best stuff on the website.
Soon it's going to be "mugshot gallery" (because that's really the only reason I've ever went to the website to begin with)
Inuyasha's ratings and the fact that they're not equal for Action makes me sad.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't those ratings for Smoking Gun higher than the ratings for Crayon Shin Chan?
I'm not won over by Shin Chan, but I'd rather see a show that tries too hard (Chan) rate higher than a show that isn't even trying (Gun).
These ratings are too random to keep up with and make sense out of so I'm going to stop watching them. Here's hoping Bleach makes #1 on Saturdays again and RC, FG, and Metal keep the top three spots on Sundays.

11-06-2006, 12:45 AM
are these ratings smoking to?
Saturday, October 28th
Chicken (11:15): 397,000
Bleach: 356,000
E7: 323,000
still over 300 for all!
Up: Chicken (11:15)
New: Bleach, E7
Sunday, October 29th
Family Guy: 945,000
Chicken: 911,000
Metal: 641,000
big dropoff
Up: Family Guy, Chicken (x2)
New: Metal

Hmm... thought the ish would hit the fan with TB. Glad that didn't hurt Bleach or E7 though. Still TB isn't doing horrible though I find it interesting it got the same rating two weeks in a row.
Looks like the people like Grand Fisher. Expect even better ratings for this week.

I'm not sure how you'd know that they like Grand Fisher. I mean, it's not like they knew he was in the episode before they watched it. If they tuned in again this week that will show that they liked Grand Fisher.

wait Smoking Gun was just a test run? I don't really care for this show I want Shin-Chan more. Also with Eureka Seven staying in the 300,000 range for the past 2 weeks despite it's small dip I see no reasons for AS to take it off the air. They can always move it to 1:30.

Inuyasha still leads the anime pack and even beats a couple of comedies despite everybody now knowing how the TV series ended. I think it demonstrates that young adults like character-driven anime soap operas.
That gives me hope that E-7 will start doing better because it seems to be heading into soap-like territory. Otherwise, the only surprise was how well Smoking Gun did. I guess celebrity sells, even when they're puppets. (^_*)
The good: All the anime got over 300K.
The bad: Most of it dropped from the previous week. Oh, and Smoking Gun did well, which just shocks and amazes me.
IY's unusually high ratings make me wonder whether the whole Thursday night anime concept should be looked into again.

Inuyasha ratings may have dropped, but it did better than the other animes. Even FMA had a big drop-off.
And now, we can give the(almost) complete ratings for last Saturday:
11:00 pm - Robot Chicken(?)
11:15 pm - Robot Chicken(397,000)
11:30 pm - Trinity Blood(301,000)
12:00 am - Bleach(356,000)
12:30 am - Eureka Seven(323,000)
1:00 am - Samurai Champloo(256,000)
1:30 am - Paranoia Agent(261,000)

Actually Bleach and E7 were up this week from last week and TB remained the same. IY, Ghost and FMA did however take a dive. I'm surprised IY and FMA were 4th and 9th show last week. Looks like the Inuyasha finale did pretty dang well.

IY's unusually high ratings make me wonder whether the whole Thursday night anime concept should be looked into again.
That's what I was thinking.
They could encore or premiere the fresh anime at 12:30AM on weeknights again and encore or premiere them on Saturday as well. So you'd have two decent chances to watch them all. Having premieres on weekdays and an encore on Saturday might work best but it could also kill Saturday's ratings outright.

The problem is, who's going to give it a chance now, not knowing any of the story thus far, just to see a bit of a soap opera?
E7's problem is that it squandered the early episodes which most shows use to get people to watch the later episodes. Most people were turned off by the early episodes and they're not going to come back just because it's heading in a better direction at 28 episodes in.

Yeah, I don't think they want to kill off Saturday's ratings again.
They could give up Saturday and instead acquire Friday to air their shows.
IY's high ratings make me wonder if WS would acquire other Takahashi properties. I know Beatdigga wouldn't like it, but one can't deny that they do well.
But other Rumiko shows are old. Really old. And they already swore up and down that Ramna 1/2 would never air years ago.
Anyway, what about premires on Saturday with Thursday as encore day?

I don't know. They did air YYH if only for a short run.

They never said they wouldn't show Shonen Jump shows. They even had Pipeline which was related to Shonen Jump. When YYH left they severed all ties to JUMP but they never said anything about not showing JUMP shows and as we all know, currently they're airing Bleach. Quite prominately with Shonen Jump in it's title card (something not even Naruto, One Piece or Bo-Bobo do).
Ranma 1/2 can't air because Ranma doesn't wear a bra and loses the front of his/her shirt often enough.
I just realized that the 2nd episode of ATHF is where the Bear from PHF and the Shark from 12 Oz Mouse came from.
o.O I thought they were both from Space Ghost...

I don't know about the bear, but I'm pretty sure they got the image of the shark from Sealab, and was recycled into SGC2C's "Old Kentucky Shark" and the ATHF's 2nd episode's, er, random shark, ( "ATHF Random Shark" :p ) both which came out pretty close to each other, so I don't know which was first, and both episodes were probably made around the same time too.
They seem to really like the shark since they keep reusing him, from SGC2C and ATHF, to "Sharko" on SL2021, to probably inspiring "Shark Vs. Crocodile", to the simply named "Shark" on 12 Ounce Mouse.
And why not? The shark rocks!
(No idea where the bear originates from. Undoubtably an orinigal H-B creation.)
You know, while some of their latest shows have kinda sucked, with some being "on the fence", like OZMO, you gotta admit, there is a certain something about a close knit group of people working together to make all these shows.
Sometimes the shows degenerate into a bunch in-jokes, or a bunch of 4th wall jokes that take over the shows and everyone becomes OOC, or sometimes they inspire fear, fear of utter stupidity (I'm looking at you, "Assy McGee"!)
But sometimes they can make some really good stuff, like ATHF, that isn't tied and bound to the mainstream standards other networks enforce, and their shows can sometimes connect with one another, or are born from one another, or crossover. Irnonically their own shows sometimes share an uniformity to them, sometimes leading to a sense of closeness, other times blandness.
Sometimes it produces utter crap. Sometimes it produces gold.
But its nice to know there is still a safe haven of sorts for off-beat humor that wouldn't last at all on FOX, ABC, CBS, etc., where the people in charge are making the shows, and when its a show they care about, like ATHF, they make sure to take care of it (....or it turns into crap like one too many).
That's why I can be a little bit forgiving to them when they fail.
Of course its hard to forgive the chewing out of anime fans. Can we be whiny? HELL YES! I didn't even care much about their complaints, when I thought it was mostly just some ribbing on their parts. But now that its been YEARS of this...

Sealab 2020 - "Shark Lover" - October 7, 1972Isn't it hilarious that the shark, who's never really been an actual character in any sense of the word until OZMO, has been around for Thirty-Four YEARS? :p
This one random shark from one episode of a slow, preachy series that lasted one season back in the '70's has probably seen more screen time than any of the one-time humans from that show that showed up for only one episode! I would say he's gotten more screen time than the main characters, but I'm sure they're leading with the amount of episodes Sealab 2020 & 2021 has, which is also ironic, given how most people wouldn't even know of the first show if it wasn't for the parody!
The absurdity of it all! I love it! :D
