Well - the new issue has hit the stands. Any comments on the Ventriloquist themed issue?

Wow....no one's said anything yet! I guess it didn't make enough of an impact!
:D
I'm just kidding! I probably won't even pick up the issue until next week or this weekend!

It's interesting to contrast Gotham Adventures with any issue of Catwoman. One of the pages of Catwoman #2 had 19 panels on it! And the story flowed perfectly.

It was an okay lightweight read. This issue marks the first time I've ever even heard of the Ventriloquist character.

Well, it was better than last month's, I'll give it that. I'd like to see a creative team change, even if it was just temporary. I'd just like to see something different than the typical first four wasted pages and then an almost dialogue-less read.

Man, this title is really crapping the bed lately. I read this issue and it didn't even really make sense. The Ventriloquist spends the first part of the issue going against Scarface's plans, but actually making them better (pulling off the bank hesit, getting away from Batman, etc)... but then at the end, he ends up purposely setting off the alarm and getting them caught. And, even though Batman is trying to find out why this is happening, it is never resolved. There is no reason or explanation given as to why Ventriloquist is double crossing Scarface. Also, the whole sequence with the thug describing how Batman was smiling fiendishly during the fight totally broke the flow of the story and didn't have anything to do with anything. Does anyone else besides me feel Gotham Adventures is really, really slipping lately??

Sadly, I have to agree with you....I was really looking forword to #45 (Arkham breakout), but it ended up being a pretty bad storyline. I hope they'll get back to the better stories, like when the comic first came out, because right now, I'm not really enjoying it all that much...

I think they were trying to go with a Two-Face thing here. The Ventriloquist as one personality, and Scarface as the other. The Ventriloquist was trying to make the crimes better, but the Scarface personality took it as an insult that Ventriloquist would question him. In the end, the Ventriloquist's personality looses out to Scarface's - he pulls the alarm to purposfully screw up, so that the Scarface personality can once again feel superior.

Well, the cover was pretty cool..... :p
No, serioously, a decent story at best, and mainly because Levins' art is looking a little better in some places (tho I am tired of the Nightwing look-alike in every issue, this one being the thug that escaped....) They're really running short on time to turn this thing around, it appears. The next few have got to pick things up drastically for me to want to stay on after issue 50 (if there're to many after that anyway....)......

It's weird when you look at the art of a recent issue, then read one of the first issues of the Peterson/Levins run. Nightwing actually LOOKs like Nightwing's design. Batman looked really close to his design as well. Now...it's gotten so off base. And I agree 100% with Trent Lane about the 'Nightwing look alike' in every issue...always there. As much as I respect the artist, I'd like to see some new blood on there. *cough*Delaney*cough*
