Ah, one of the most pointless decisions in video game history... but I don't think you'll find anyone who played the original Street Fighter II who doesn't have an opinion.
Personally, I was always a Ryu guy back in the day. I always found it kind of funny how Ryu and Sagat had their whole back story where Ryu gave him that chest scar with a dragon punch, and yet in the later games when they decided to differentiate Ryu and Ken, they gave Ryu the better fireball and Ken the better dragon punch.
Didn't bother me too much though, considering that I always used the fireball more often anyway.

I've always been a Ryu fan. Despite having a somewhat better story (lol story in a Street Fighter game), I liked his interpretation of the moveset better than Ken's version.

Ken, easily. Speed plus power plus awesome uppercut.

as far as Ryu clones go, I choose Shin-Sakura
but since e only have the choice of the two I go for Ryu
I want my Street fighter 4.....or even a Street Fighter Alpha 4
I'll take anything aside from Ex4 at this point....a new Darkstalkers game would be nice, with new sprites for characters
just SOMETHING NEW

lol a new DS... That will NEVER happen.
Anyways, Ken... Always. I've always liked Ken, and in fact he is my main char in A2/A3 and one of my mains in SF2.

Ryu, for the same reason why I pick Luigi over Mario. He's a better dresser. I just like white clothing better than red clothing.

While Ken's special moves are flashy and inflict more hits (thus, making him better for combos), I always preferred Ryu's power, especially how his Tatsu Maki Senpuu Kyaku knocks the enemy down in one blow.
So yeah, I'm a Ryu fan.

It was Ryu until ken developped the Fire Sho-Ryu-Ken!

Ryu gives more damage for a majority of his moves so I'll side with him.

My knee-jerk, impulsive response would normally be Chun-Li, but since that's not the topic at hand, I'd fathom I was closer to Ryu personality-wise. Ken always seemed a little too cocky for my liking.

Ken also gets points for being American, being rich, and having the pairing of Karin at times (as Sakura is occassionally trained by Ryu, Karin by Ken), because Karin rules.
And ask Verminium. I'm evil with Ken.

BTW I'd say Dan could beat Ken, Ryu, Akuma, and Sean on any given day of the week. They may have made him a joke character, but if you know how to use him he can screw up your plans. Unless you're playing an Akuma who's a total jerk on the stick. Akuma is just far too over powered in every game, but MvC2.

And again if we count crosovers, then Ryo from Art of Fighting would dominate everyone since his moves are just so damn awesome and evolved compared to Ryu and Ken.

Ken, mainly because I wanted to differentiate from being a standard Ryu player, by expanding my ability to work with different characters instead of just 'mastering' one.

Yeah, given my choice between all of the original World Warriors (and most of the later additions, for that matter), I go with Guile every time.

I was always a Ken man. I suppoes that's because I always preferred the dragon punch over the fireball.
It's basically nothing now, but back in the old arcade days of the original Street Fighter II, nothing impressed your friends more than countering Blanca's roll or M. Bison's torpedo with an old dragon punch to the noggin. :D
Not that Ryu can't do that too....but did Ryu have the somersault rolling throw back in the day? I think not! :p

Ken. I just liked his outfit. Also, Ryu seemed too serious but you could see Ken being a fun guy. I developed this preference playing the first SF2, when there was very little to set them apart in terms of moves. I remember I almost had a falling out with Ken in Turbo, or one of the other games, when they modified Ken's kick and screwed up my Ken strategies. Also, Ken started having a yellow gi as an option, which I thought was very un-Ken.
