Alright all you clock watchers out there.. It's time to turn back the Clock 1 hour (Back to Regular 'Standard Time')

As of Today (The Last Sunday in October at 2 am), the clocks "Fall Back" to 1 am local time..

Of course there are a few Places that don't have to do this.. Some parts of Indiana and Most of Arizona don't have to Follow this rule (Heck that's a good reason to Live in Arizona.. it's the same time every day!)

But there's an upside, you get back an extra hour of sleep..

Also if you have a Computer (Preferably with Windows XP or Mac OS X, don't worry about turning that clock back.. The Program does it automatically (Unless you turned off the "Allow for Daylight Savings"...

But as for other clocks? Well you have to set them back 1 hour by hand.. (that is unless you have one of those "New Clocks that locks into Time Stations Known as WWV and WWVH in Boulder Colorado, and Honolulu Hawaii..)

But if you really want to know what time it is.. Go right here..

www.time.gov (http://www.time.gov) (That's .gov, not .com unless you want to read Time Magazine!)

But that's all the 'Time I have' It's about Time I go to bed..:p:D:evil:

Man, I hate this system. Why can't we keep the clocks the same like most other countries do?

Of course, that one extra hour is only good on the night of the roll back. Afterwards, it's back to the same.

But like Dudley, I hate the time change. It's absolutely useless and serves no purpose, and I believe there are some groups out there working towards getting it abolished.

That's not true for Indiana anymore. The whole state started observing DST this spring.
The bad thing is the state got officially split between Eastern and Central time.

I really don't mind the system. You only have to switch your clocks twice a year, one time being benefical to your sleep, and there is a purpose, in a way. I mean, if we didn't have it, it would be six or seven o'clock and still sunny, yet it would be in the winter. And with summer, the sun wouldn't be up as long and you would lose the day faster. So, ultimately, it is benefical, IMO.

It's still a stupid system and should be abolished. I know I've never met a person who didn't hate it and wish it was done away with.

Well, I'm glad there's a two-sided conversation here. But it's still not as if I love it. But I don't mind it.

I'm pretty much indifferent on the whole Daylight Savings Time. It's not that big of a deal to change a clock or two a couple of times a year. And now it gets darker an hour earlier. Winter is just around the corner

I say we stop "Springing Forward", and just "Fall Back" all the time. We'll gain an hour every year, and never grow old.

I know a lot of folks hate Daylight Savings Time, and want it abolisshed, but you can blame the farmers and industrial workers for all thism and if anything you have to blame your Grandprent's generation for all of this.

The Real truth behind this time switching goest all the way back to the 1940's when there was a war on (Namely World War 2). The People at that time needed a way to help produce more war-time goods for the war effort, so a lot of folks went to their government officials and demaned more time.

Hence this is why Daylight Savings time is in place (it's because of that war time issue (but then other people like business men and business women found out benefits to this. by changing the clocks, they could in some ways pay less money to their employees (See here in Arizona, without the time change, we have to during the summer go to work one hour EAARLIER then the rest of the folks (Sure if you work 9 to 5 during the Winter, you work 8 to 4 every summer.

but do I hate the Time Change? Well I don't hate it. Why? Cause it's for everyone else. In fact a lot of Arizonans say it best (Except for those in the North East part of the sstate (Which doesn't observe this.) but here's what they say.

Arizona in terms of time changes looks insane at first but when you compare tit to the rest of the country.. we're the sane ones around. 7 am is 7 am every day 365 days a year (366 if you have a leap year.

but that's just my point. If folks want it abolished they need to get with their representatives and demand it be abolished. but until then it's going to be the same thing every day.

(Also a side note. does anyone realize that the human body really doesn't work well on a 24 hour day? Humans have a circadian rhythm that really is 25 hours long. (and in fact some folks theorize that we originall come from Mars (Which has a day that is 24 hours and 56 minutes long (Hmm so are the Martians really us?) That's a conspiracy theory that will keep most folks guessing for years..

But as for Time itself, a lot of folks actually now have clocks where it will sutomatically switch (and if the power goes out, then they can reset themselves to the correct time (Why? Because they now send a signal through the air thanks to the universal time clocks. (But like I said, most computers don't need to do anything.. the program does it for you automatically.

I miss the days when day lights savings time didn't matter and then our governor had to go ahead and think it was important to have it. I'm still getting used to the whole clock changing thing.

You know what really sucks about this, though? For the night shift staff, a 12 hour shift suddenly becomes 13 hours...one extra hour! That they aren't paid for! And that hour matters too, especially when you're tired.

...Thank God I worked day shift. Because I ended up getting an extra hour of sleep. :anime:

Too bad this nonsense starts earlier next year (March) and lasts for longer. Boo!

:coyote:Windows ME and 2000 change time on their own as well. And most recent VCR/DVD/Combos change on their own. Including Cable and Satellite boxes, and cellphones. And Casio G-Shock Atomic Watch (I love mine, just leave it next to a window and it updates itself 3 times a night).

You might be surprised as to how many countries observe DST. Most of the temperate regions (mostly in the Northern Hemisphere) observe DST as a way of conserving energy. Check this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_Savings) out.

This is the first time I've ever been a little depressed about daylight savings time. I like it better when the sun is out longer. Then again, that's probably how much I enjoyed my summer vacation.

Seriously, if you really hate DST and have/will contact your rep to try to get it changed I suggest you unclinch.

I did. But mostly my complaints stem from not used to using DST because in the past decade I lived in countries that stopped or never did use the system.

That's Arizona for you: Survive 100+ degree weather for 9 months of the year and you don't have to adjust your clocks 2 days out of the year
