The title has absolutely NOTHING to do with this cartoon, can somebody tell why this title was chosen?

Hmmm....I guess it's because Buddy steps out while we have to stay home and watch all of Buddy's stuff come to life  .

Actually, Pietro, the term "Steppin' Out" is just an old-time term that simply means to go out on the town. So when Buddy "Steps Out," he's simply taking his girl for a big night out. :D

Oh, now I get it! Thanks!:D

Hmmm, this was probably the original title, but WB decided not to use it, for even lower Buddy ratings:

"Buddy Steps Out, and Leaves Us to Watch his Boring House for 6 Minutes!" :p

I don't much like that cartoon. I think it would've been more fun to hang out with the real Buddy than with his photo-come-to-life.

Aparently, the joke of the "Buddy Steps Out" title was to take the slang expression of "Stepping out" and use it instead in the litteral sense, the same way Avery took the slang term "Golddigger" and instead used it in the litteral sense for his "Golddiggers of `49" a few months later. Of course, in the former case the joke actually ended up being on the audience, since Buddy apparently took all the funny parts of the cartoon with him and Cookie to the party. (BTW, both cartoons shared the same animating team of Chuck Jones and Bob Clampett, for whatever that's worth).

This also could be the only Jack King gag Tex ever copied (a good thing too, or Leon would have tossed Avery out on his keister by 1937), and if so dereves a small place in animation history. ;)

Hmmm- good point. I've never thought of the "Golddigger" allusion referring to Little Kitty.... kind of funny now, when I think about it :)

And to think that I always thought that the title "Buddy Steps Out" was simply in place of "Buddy Goes To He*%" ... :) ;)
