Is it possible that Cable, Deadpool, and X-Force are going to be relaunched under the new names of Soilder X, Agent X, and X-Statics? Thankfully this rumor has been addressed in a very interesting article at Comic Newsarama:

I suggest ya check it out. Could you imagine the new AMAZING title X-Force being called something as lame as X-Statics? Ugh!!

Well, this is the first I've heard of this rumor, so I don't know if it's true or not.
I could think of one good thing though. If they changed the name of X-Force to X-Statics, then maybe they could bring some of the old characters that were banished to "Marvel Limbo" when X-Force took it's "new direction" and give them their title back! :p
I miss some of the old X-Forcers.....true, the title had some bad stories, but the characters themselves weren't so bad.

But the real truth of the story is that despite all its hype, Marvel continues to struggle and post more and more losses. They need to maintain cash flow and the quickest, not by any means the best way to do that, is to spit out new #1's. Heaven forbid they actually put together some really appealing teams to do the books that catch the attention of the fans.
so true, so true...

I'm pretty sure it would be hard to bring the old X-Forcers back, becuase Edgington (sp?) decided that he was a good writer and knew how to end a series starring characters that were established for almost 20 years.
I really hate how he ended his run (heck, I'm not too happy with how he started his run. I liked Pete Wisdom!)

I'll agree that Edgington didn't need to kill off Pete. Personally, I didn't know much about Pete Wisdom, but he seemed like a cool character.
As for the rest, don't forget that they re-appeared briefly in one of the issues that came after the "new X-Force." We didn't get an explanation as to HOW they survived their last issue...but we did see them.
I hope they'll re-appear someday....I miss some of the old X-Forcers..... Heck, if Chamber can be an X-Man...then surely some of the X-Force crew could be too. I think Siryn would make a cool X-Man...I suppose Cannonball could come back too...although I always preferred him in X-Force.

They can keep most of those books anyway. Almost all of the x-books are seriously dropped in quality in the past couple years anyway. X-force looks like a joke anyway with that lovely 50's 2 dimensional art anyway. Give me back the old team any day. But, why do that.. ...just create yet another x-book!
(quality over quantity....)

I would kind of have to agree with this assesment of the X-books. I think that X-men (New) and Uncanny has seriously dropped off since the apparent 'relaunch'. Morrisson and Casey are both great writers but nothing special seems to be in these issues. I had high hopes for it but now I just wish someone else would take over and bring back the essential X-Men type of stories - it's gotta be better than the stuff they've got now. Oh yea, Shatterstar was a great character and my favorite X-Forcer.

While at first I didn't like it too much, I must admit that New X-Men has really grown on me. It was the issue with Beast on the cover that really changed things around. I can't stand Uncanny, tho.
But X-Force is really well written now. And Alred's art is pretty good as well.
