This is the talkback thread for "Negima Vol. 3": Courage is the Ultimate Proof of Magic! (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=12997).

Judging by the last Talkback, I guess it is impossible to talk about the series without dicussing how badly it was adapted from the manga.

I do have to say though that these were episodes in the series that were actually decent to say the least. For a majority part (if I remember the manga correctly) the library quest arc was retained pretty well in my opinion, and the last episode on the disc wasn't too bad. However after watching Negima!? (note the !? to indicate it's a different series), I can't stand to look at the animation and design of the original's anymore, nor stomach Chisame's now fugly green hair. Originally I thought it wasn't that bad when I first watched the series, but after a while, the orange hair she has in the manga and 2nd anime were the better color.

Internet girl = creepy. That's a funny episode, though. Library arc is good, although the ending was pretty much a foregone conclusion.

Still sticking to my "imperfect adaptation but still an entertaining show" opinion.

My comments about the episodes:

Chiu episode: this is one of the episodes in which I feel the anime version is actually better than the manga version, thanks to the fun "anime only" subplot of the "Chiu vs. 2A Web War".

Library Island two-parter: While the story is interesting, it is marred by how the ending has "Love Hina" written all over it (with me not being into those episodes of Love Hina).

Konoka episode: While it may seem like filler, there's one moment that sets things up for the next DVD volume of the show (which is definite "must buy" for me).

BTW: great choice of title for the episode 3 review, since that is not only a reoccuring theme in the Negima manga, but also, in the manga version of Negima, "courage" is the virtue listed on the Pactio cards of Negi's first two Ministra Magi, Asuna and Nodoka.

I find it interesting that this series is coming out on a monthly baisis

401 is set to come out in November and 501 is December, last I remember

I'm also curious on when/if Negima 2.0 is brought over, and if Funimation intends to get it as well. I mean what exactly would they title the series in America since Negima is alreadyt aken.
