Vince at The Warner Bros. Club board just posted this... I figured I'd copy it and post it here. If you want to see the site it's at http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hollywoodreporter/television/brief_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=915330

From Hollywoodreporter.com:

"Cartoons aren't just for kids. That's what Turner's Cartoon Network hopes to prove with "Adult Swim," a new three-hour animated block aimed at an adult 18-34 year demographic it will launch September 2, network officials said today. "Adult Swim" will air Sunday and Thursday night from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. ET. The block will consist of new episodes of its original animated series "Space Ghost Coast to Coast" along with five other series that will run on a rotating basis. Series will include new episodes of "Home Movies" about an awkward third grader named Brendon Small, and "Sealab 2021," an update of an Hanna-Barbera production about an undersea city. The futuristic cartooon will feature the voice of actor Erik Estrada of "Chips" fame. Cartoons in "Adult Swim" will come with a either a TV-PG or TV-14 rating. The block is aimed at Cartoon Network's sizable adult audience. "Almost one-third of our viewers are adults over 18, so it's a natural extension of our progamming to create new shows specifically for an aduly audience," Cartoon Network President Betty Cohen said."

So, some questions arise. Will we see an adult classic cartoon block, and is this reliable news? I'm guessing that the source is fairly reliable, and from what we've seen of Sealab and those other Williams St. goodies, and a relatively new Space Ghost a few weeks back, hopefully the block will occur. Now if only they will find a way to work in Mammy...

That's very good news...But how about a weekly "Politcally Incorrect" classic cartoon showcase featuring rare cartoons, but do we (the adults) want a new cartoon series???HELL NO!!!!
Bring us the classics...

I heard about this news on spumco.com's messageboard. This probably is true. I had a feeling we hadn't seen the last of Sealab 2021 - which I couldn't care any less about. Now if only they could show some rare un-PC classic cartoons more often - maybe even dedicate a whole 30 or 60 minutes to un-PC classics, every late night.:D

"Adult Swim" doesn't sound like the breakthrough that
some of us are hoping for, I mean , Eric Estrada???

I can't see Cartoon Network ever going very far on the
censored stuff, it's probably just not worth the risks even
if they wanted to. But HBO on the other hand......

Well there a prob with that HBO is owend by AOL/timewarner

thay may get away with airing on showtime since there motto is

(no limits and since thay showed south park (movie) uncut I beleave them) plus thay not owend by aol time warner

just for fun

HBO aired a bugs bunny movie (lunny lunny) and it was censored (the short that had daffy drinking gas )show biz bugs

so may be showtime would be our best bet

also how meny of you seen futurama in every opening thay feature an old cartoon clip and thay showed bosko i realy didn't see any thing wrong w/it

last time i rememberd bosko didn't have the 'black' accent

can somebody post a pic of bosko and a pic of a black face wb cartictor and do a coparison to see if bosko is realy black

i think cn is too parinoid

Here's J. Max Robins's report on "Adult Swim" in TV GUIDE:

Of course, no mention of the classic toons.
