View Full Version : Justice League Heroes or Justice League Unlimited?

Check out the new Justice League Heroes game. Some designs reflect the comic books, but the JLU show as well. Supergirl's design looks like the one from the show. Dwayne McDuffie is writing it. Makes me wonder if it follows or continues from JLU. I know that for some reason it stands alone, but check it out. I wouldn't rule it out as part of the DCAU. Hey, if that Brainiac Attacks movie counts as DCAU, why not JLH? The game is computer animated, right? Be the judge as to where it stands. I see it as another animated story just like those Batman games Vengeance and Sin Tzu.

Hey, if that Brainiac Attacks movie counts as DCAU

It doesn't. The writer of it even said it didn't.

JL Heroes is as related to the DCAU as Paul Dini's Detective Comic's run has been. Not to say the stories aren't good, but they really don't have any ties whatsoever to the previous animated series.

In addition to Bird Boy's words of steely concrete, all the characters appear to be in their current comic book costumes. Furthermore, the fact that the Hawkgirl depicted in screenshots is wearing her current comic costume (the green and yellow two-piece costume) indicates that it's the current comic Hawkgirl, Kendra Saunders, a character we never saw in animated continuity.

There's no debate here. It's not DCAU material.

Unfortunately, it's not the Shayera Hol version of Hawkgirl. :(

I would have been more likely to play the game had it been in the style of JL/JLU and featured the Timmverse cast of actors. I don't know who made this one, but if BATMAN: VENGEANCE and RISE OF SIN TZU could keep the style/voices, I don't see why this game couldn't.

Don't get smart. I'm just saying that the game wasn't made overnight but was likely in development for sometime, so it could have easily been a tie-in with the finale of JLU (same style, same cast), and, while I don't know how well this game has sold so far, probably would do even better in sales as a result.

I would've loved an X-Men Legends style Justice League Unlimited game, but given how oh so many DC video games suck, I'm almost glad they didn't. Does anyone remember the horror that was the Batman Beyond video game?

Besides, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is out soon. Spider-Man, Daredevil, Iron Man, Captain America, Wolverine and The Fantastic Four in one game. What's not to love?

Well, you can unlock John's JLU look. And since you have the animated big 7 in the game, plus some other characters sporting their animated looks they don't have in the books anymore -- Supergirl, Huntress, Kyle Rayner -- I like to think of JLH as being as close as I can get to finally playing a next-gen console Justice League game.

Have a good day.

Hulk: Ultimate Destruction was good and the spsder-Man game for the PS1 was good for its time. Marvel has a much better recent track record with video games, than DC.

True but my point still stands. There was a time that was still recent where no one would think a good marvel game past the capcom fighters was possible. All DC needs is that good game to prove they can have good games. That is what i'm getting at that to damn a game beforehand is not right. At all.

Still after 2000, Marvel's ratio of games went almost everything they makes sucks, to hit or miss, while DC has stayed at the almost everything they makes sucks level.

Considering the developers chose a different voice cast from JLU just to establish that they are different continuities, I would say they are not connected.

They've released a lot more games in general too. At some point you've GOT to hit a lucky streak. :D

As far as this goes...no, given the designs and the fact that they didn't even use the same VOICES...you can be safe in saying this has almost nothing to do with the JLU-verse. However....I did hear that the script writer was either the writer for or one of the writers for JLU.

Still, I'd rather get Marvel: UA. Make no mistake: DC will almost ALWAYS be better than Marvel. But this game is no match for UA. Of course, it shouldn't even be compared. This game is more like X-Men Legends. With a smaller # of characters, and a focus on just one team and one team's villains (for the most part). Hopefully DC will soon come out with a game that showcases numerous characters from its universe (and multiple teams), with nearly 150 characters (and only like, 30 playable...boo, Marvel!)....though probably not anytime before 2008.

DC has yet to do a game that even comes close the brilliance of the first PS1 Spider-Man game. I had high hopes for Superman Returns, but the delays are leaving me worried.

Has anyone seen the horrible, horrible model that this game uses for it's Batman Beyond suit? It's cringeworthy. Kudos for including Kyle Rayner and Green Arrow as unlockables though, this might be worth a rental after all.

Indeed, Justice League Unlimited Dwayne McDuffie wrote the story/dialouge for the game.

Seriously it was never that hard to make a good Spider-Man game. It just took the power of the PS1 to do it. Granted, Superman is almost as easy to do, so I'm not quite sure HOW they keep messing him up. Still, I try not to hate DC's games too much since they've never given any heroes aside from Batman and Superman (and Aquaman, for some reason unknown to man) any games. And Marvel always loses massive points for never doing an Iron Man game, as easy as it would be to do.

Hal Jordan, Huntress, Aquaman and Hawkgirl are also in the game. Of course, Kyle's the only reason I'm BUYING the game. When it was just John the only thing this game was good for was for me to make fun of. And I'm still irritated that Hawkgirl was chosen over Hawkman.

Given the number of Batman games I own, I'd expect one of them to be half decent. Sloppy mistakes seem to be common practise in Batman games though. Admittedly, the PS2 Superman game wasn't bad, it just needed a little more work and some decent villains to fight, spare the same robots over and over again. And with a name like Shadows Of Apokolips, I expect a bloody fight with Darkseid, even if Micheal Ironside isn't doing the voice!

Agree to disagree. :)

They aren't doing too bad character wise, although to be able to play at 4 at the same time would've been preferable. Hopefully the game will be worth a second go around to actually play with these new characters. :)

The reason they didn't as they're basing the game on the main DC Universe comics, not the animated series, as opposed to Sin Tzu or Vengeance which were made to tie into The New Batman Adventures.

I was a big JL/JLU fan and I bought the game the day that it came out, and am so far having a blast with it. The story is good and intriguing including a surprise villian that you'll never guess. The voice overs are good and the game is just as fun to play as any of the XML games. The game has some problems to it, but overall if you like Justice League you'll like this game 4/5

Wait till JLH 2 (presuming they make one). I'm sure it will probably have those 3, Steel, and a few others for a "expanded" JLA. If X-Men Legends 2 is any indication, if we get a JLH2 it'll also probably have characters like Nightwing, Cyborg and Starfire in it.

As far as this game....I played it last night when my friends came over. Didn't really seriously play it since that was my first time being Superman and well....there's WAY too much fun stuff to do as Superman when you're only going to play a game for 40 minutes to be serious. :D:D:D Picking up cars and beating giant robots over the head is one of them. Of course, it was a bit hilarious to watch Batman have the same/near the same effectiveness against the robots that I did, for some reason.

Only real problem I had with the game is that Supes and Bats looked OLD. Like, in their 50's old. Ew. I'll probably buy this, but it'll be after DBZ: BT2 and Marvel: UA.

How did the voice cast in JLH compare with the one in JLU? The do just as good of a job as the JLU actors. Ron Perlman makes for a good mysterious Batman(he's no Conroy but Conroy wouldn't of really worked in this script). I prefer Michael Jai White as Green Lantern over his DCAU counterpart. The only weak spot was the guy who played Superman was somewhat cheesy every now and then, but overall everyone did a really good job.

A friend let me borrow his X-Box and I then proceeded to rent this game. It was pretty good, IMO. I had a lot of fun while playing it. The voice acting was mostly pretty good, though I do find it funny that Ron Perlman, who voiced two Batman villains, voiced Bats. That said, I didn't like Killer Frost's voice and The Key's kinda got on my nerves at first.

I still prefer the DCUA VA cast when reading the comics, but otherwise, they'd didn't do too bad a job.:)

I have to be honest folks this game

has it all.

and being that the DCAU / Timmverse is now OVER. and now that timm and Co., are now helping to create a new universe style with the DTV's.

i think we should look at the game as the last of the timmverse.

after playing it i have to commend the game creators for taking elements from the Justice League tv version and the comics and blended them together perfectly.

the voice cast they got for the cut scene cinematics were just downright brilliant.

it feels like you're actually in the Justice League show.

i was hoping that the the justice league tv series would eventually become a movie series. but the Game is the best we can
get.

so in a way its kinda of fulfilling to look at all 5 seasons and the play the game.

even though some the designs are changed VERY slightly to fit the look of the comics. it has the feel of the the TV show. the dialogue and eveything even the voice casting was really pretty good and close the the original voices.

infact this game could be looked at as sort of like a prequel sequel sidestory that happens inbetween justice league & JLU.
just with a comic book makeover.

since hawkgirl is gone

okay 1st things 1st.

go to youtube.com and type in

"Justice League Heroes spoilers 1"

and basically there some folks have posted all of the cutscenes

basically this is a RPG but its also a button masher too.

it take elements from the comics and the justice leauge season 1-2 and justice league unlimited and blends those elements withe comics too.

the voice cast is not the same but they're darn close the the same voice cast.

basically the big 7 (hawkgirl is replaced by Zatana) take on Brainiac, Grodd, Doomsday, Killer Frost, Darksied, para demoms and a whole Mix of characters from the show and the comics in a very elaborate plot all cooked up by brainiac. some the the characters from the show (mainly villians) have been give a makeover to fit their original design from the comics.

but the general relationships and so on are established very well and are almost identical to the show.

so its sorta like they put you inside the justice league show and the comic at the same time. but it more or less feels like you're in the show.

for example the watchtower is on the surface of the moon instead of orbiting the eath like a satellite. braniac looks more like his comic book counterpart than his timmverse design.

its really brillant though.

think of the game as a 5 parter plot where you take part in the action/plot.

and since the bruce tim team is no longer taking the univese beyond "destroyer" or "brainiac attacks" "mytery of the batwoman" this is the next best thing. IMO

so after you look at the DCAU / timmverse dvd collection up to "destoryer" just pop in the JL heros game!

because i have to be honest i was heartbroken to hear that the new DTV aren't a continuation past "destroyer"

i feel like the game is meant to both honor the greatness of the tv show and the original designs of the comics too.

But the only link the game has to the DCAU is Dwayne McDuffie writing. Other than that, it's pure comic book universe - Kendra Saunders rather than Shayera as Hawkgirl, the Morrison-era JLA Watchtower on the moon, the list goes on. How can the game be the end of something it wasn't involved with in the first place?

After Braianic used Queen Bee, The Key, Killer Frost, the White Martians, Gorilla Grodd, and clones of Doomsday to distract the League while he steals a couple of item: A Mother Box and a small meteor. In the game, he hears a voice from the meteor that promises his power and knowledge.
Turns out the voice is Darkseid's as the rock contain a portal to his prison and had in turn used Brainiac to release him (As opposed to dead and then revived ala the DCAU or at large as opposed to his comics self, the game's version seems to have been dethroned and imprisoned in another dimension). Darkseid's the true final boss of the game.
