Has anyone else noticed that only Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman have creator credits? What about Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Hawkgirl, or even Aqua Man?

I know that a lot of it has to do with legal issues. Bob Kane's name has always appeared with a creator credit in the comics, movies and animated series. I think it was something he negotiated back when he first created Batman for DC Comics in 1939.

The creators of Superman travelled a more difficult road from what I understand. They recieved creator credits in time for the first Superman movie in 1978, but I think they were involved in a lengthy legal battle first. Since then, they have recieved credit for all movies, TV shows, etc.

The estate of WW's creator must have arranged for similar creator credit.

The creators of the other heroes did not establish such a legal precedent. And for whatever reason, some of those characters true creators are in question. However, many more recent comic book creations (such as the New Gods, Firestorm and even Nightwing) usually have a creator credit listed in the comics and sometimes the animated series as well. I guess those writers and artists saw the mistakes made in the past and worked to make sure the same thing didn't happen to them.

Someone else can probably give you a more thorough answer than that, though.

I noticed that too--I could only assume that it's because the credit would be too long. Who would you credit for Green Lantern? John Stewart's creator? The guy who created the Silver Age Green Lantern mythos? The creator of the original, Golden Age Green Lantern? The same goes for the Flash and Hawkgirl--there were too many people who created different versions of the same character. Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman; however, have remained pretty consistent.

As for Aquaman and J'onn, well, they rate along with Green Lantern and Flash. They're not as big as the "Big Three."

What I'd like to know is where the rest of the voice credits were. I have no idea who did the voices for the Imperium, the Aliens, or the Green Lantern Corps members (except Kilowog, he got listed).
