I think before today, I had only seen this movie once before many years ago and I think I didn't even see the whole thing. I TiVoed it today on Boomerang and just got done watching and I have to say I have mixed feelings.

The first 30 minutes was great, but when those little green Snork/Smurf aliens came into the picture, it really got annoying and I fast forwarded through the parts with them in it. The villain Fiona Funk (sp?) was annoying towards the middle and end and the whole thing where she spazzed out when he heard the word "music" got old fast. The music didn't bother me as much as it does in other HB movies ("Man Called Flintstone" anyone?).

All of these HB movies seem to go on and on and never end. But I made it through this one, if you don't count fast fowarding a couple of parts.

I guess I'm pretty much in agreement with the respondents, so far. I remember setting the VCR, back in the early 90's, to get this movie on tape. I watched it, I then copied it and edited out the commericals. Then in 1996 I bought the video casset and watched it again, for a total of 3 times. Unfortunately, it didn't get any better. The animation quality and supporting character design (Wang Studios) was lifeless. The story was aimed at pre-teens.

I beleive this was the last of a group of H-B character movies (Yogi Bear series, Huck Hound, Top Cat & Jetsons/Flintstones), made in 1987 and 1988, that was an effort to make Hanna-Barbera a "household name". This last statement comming from a 1988 printed article that I know I've got, but just can't find at the moment.

Some interesting side NOTES; this was probably Daws Butler's last outing as Elroy Jetson. Also probably the last outing for a few of the old guard H-B production folk. Ray Patterson, Don Patterson, Bill Perez, Pat Foley, Joed Eaton, Oliver "lefty" Callahan, & Larry Cowen. Iwoa Takamoto is still going. It's also notable that Bill Hanna & Joe Barbera collaborated in writing the music and lyrics for this production.

THANX

I really liked the song that made Judy famous for 15 minutes. The rest of the movie was nearly intolerable.

I have only seen this movie a handful of times, but managed to catch it earlier this year. The plot's pretty forgetable, but similar to the Jetsons episode "Date with Jet Streamer" which includes Judy submitting a song to uprising teen star of the moment and her lyrics are misplaced with Elroys'. The villian and the aliens were pretty dry and dull as well. The music was okay, but nothing great although I did like the song Judy made.

As a whole I prefer The Flintstones meet the Jetsons movie to this one. Not bad, I would still watch this on occasion. 2 outta 5.

Actually, It's rather surprsingly good. This was Janet Waldo's last attempt (before) ad Debbie Gibson wannabe) Tiffany's 1989 attempt to do the soundtrack for the Jetson movie with the WHOLE nine yards of dialogue by Tiff, so with Janet Waldo talking the voice as usual (with B.J.Ward as singing!) was pretty good in thsi previous (1988) attempt..story is convulted to a point but it was the last good enjoyable in any extent HB production.

Some good colorful effects by (I think) CFI film labs (I think they started getting credit;they did "Spy Kids","Little Miss Sunshine",the Oscar-Winning "Crash" with Sandra Bullock, etc.) and I THINK music by none other than JOHN DEBNEY--who would become (esp.in vcartoons now) a more recognzied music director (corrections welcome!)

I liked Man Called Flintstone.

Anyways, this movie was pretty...bad. What I saw of it, at least. Still. I've had Boomerang just a week now and its nice to see my favorite H-B characters again so probably liked it a lot more than other posters.

I liked Man Called Flintstone. Don't get me wrong I love "The Man Called Flintstone." The story and animation is great and there are some really good laughs in there. It's the music I can't stand except for the opening title theme. The other songs were obviously put in to pad the movie to 90 minutes and are completely irrelevant.

But I do like "The Man Called Flintstone" just not the songs.

Boomerang is airing it today at 2:00pm along with "The Good, the Bad, and Huckleberry Hound." If you haven't seen this, you might want to check it out.

EDIT 3/18
Boomerang aired it again today. Anyone watch?
