This thread is to remind you that the Battlefield 2142 Demo is out now, This includes the Conquest Mode, Including the new Titan Mode, I have it now and it's awesome, Awesome to the max!.
I was in the beta and it was alright, but not good enough to buy. Hopefully the demo will fix some of the bugs that plagued the beta.
Doubt I'll download it. I still prefer BF2/POE2.

I got the beta in the 2nd round of keys... Played it for a good 7 minutes, quit, and uninstalled. Not only does it play like crap, it also runs terrible for a game that isn't THAT visually impressive. BF2 was OK for a few months, but I'm not even bothering with this Quake Wars wannabe. It almost feels like a really bad BF2 mod.

Put me in the disappointed camp. I loved BF1942, hated Vietnam, and even loved the buggy sensation known as BF2. To say that BF2142 is its own game is a little silly. The game is pretty much a BF2 mod, and it should have been marketed as such for about $30, not $50. It's pretty underwhelming on its own.

No really I give them kudos for making it less choppy than BF2, it looks and runs smoother, but the Sidi map at least, is rather bland, the environments aren't very interactive or breath taking, not enough cover for ground soldiers. Beyond that I'm going to attack the Titan mode. It is an AWESOME idea, but the ship layouts are also bland and just...blah, and once the shields are down it's over too quickly. The shields/hull should take more firepower to lower/destroy. The BIGGEST flaw however is the thing I find many others praising...the unlock system. AGAIN, GREAT concept BUT they start you out with a laughable...LAUGHABLE kit. The gun is absurd. In 20 years we will having homing bullets and yet in this game you couldn't hit a freaking tank with an automatic from 20 feet if your life depended on it. I know bullet spraying isn't the wisest tactic on earth but the shots should come RELATIVELY close to their targets and OCCASIONALLY hit them. Basically, instead of starting with cool weapons, and spending months unlocking even cooler, and than uber cool weapons, they start you with CRAP and then you unlock, bad weapons, not so bad weapons, and then on the top tier you finally get something equivalent to the starting weapons of BF2. It was a good idea executed hideously. You are telling me they won't have grenades as a standard in the future when they do now? That our snipers of today have better ability controling their breathing and muscles than those of soldiers 150 years from now? Don't think so. Absurd. The basic sniper kit is effing ridiculous. You'd think the guy your playing as has some kind of a mental disorder causing a tic, or a muscle jerk in his arms, the way the scope jerks around at all times.
NOW lets get to vehicle damage. Stupid. Stupid. I fired on a guy with from one of those attack hover choper things from about 30 feet above him for ten seconds straight... he didn't die. WOW. Totally crap. The threat of insta-kill vehicles is what made them fun in BF2. As more and more 15 year olds complain about dying instantly, they keep lowering the damage rate on things, and in BF2142 it's just piss poor of the bat! The game is no fun.
Totally dropped the ball.

For a game set in the future, there almost isn't anything they did to make this a real improvement.
We've developed a while back this special remote control spy missle that can be shot from about 5 miles away and holds a couple of cameras on it. Once it reaches it's target like a building or a vehical, it sticks to the target and takes a 360 camera view of the area around it. Why the Hell couldn't EA invest their time into comming up with stuff like this instead of just slapping on more body armor and saying "this is the future."
