Intense. Both scary, dramatic, and oh-so funny :D Gotta love da Doc' and Rose. (Billie Piper had great chemistry with Christopher Eccleston, but she and David Tennant also have great chemisty as well.) Now that ending makes you think...not just the royal family possibly being werewolves, but what may come down the line:
1. The werewolf referring to Rose as having being like him, but instead of moonlight, she's burning bright (a reference to last season's "Bad Wolf"?)
2. The increasing prominence of Torchwood (although that makes sense with the spin-off and all).
3. First season saw the return of the penulitmate Doctor Who villians, the Daleks. And we can thank SCI-FI for spoiling the fact that at least one Cyberman will show up, if not the whole race.
4. Focus first on Harriet as the prime minister, and now the royal family.
Are these just random things, or are they connected like the last season's clues leading up the reveal of "Bad Wolf"...

I've acquired season 2 through... other means. I've managed to see as far as episode 9 (with the Christmas episode counted as episode 0, and "New Earth" as episode 1). Let me just say this season is knocking my socks off.
I really liked this episode. I especially liked (and I hope it made its way into the US version) Rose trying to get Queen Victoria to say "we are not amused."

I'm just speculating a bit, but what I'm about to say contains spoilers, so don't highlight it unless you don't really care about spoilers...
I think something is wrong with the TARDIS.
With the exception of the next episode, "School Reunion," the TARDIS seems to have picked up the habit of dropping Doctor & Rose off in the wrong place & time. In this episode, for example, they wanted to go to the 1970s. They ended up in the 1870s. Whenever they get dropped off in the wrong time/place, that little fact becomes forgotten when the conflict at hand arises, but when I looked back on this season as a whole, I noticed it was a trend. Something's up, and I have no idea whether or not Torchwood (which pops up from time to time) has anything to do with it.

I often wonder how much of Who confuses American fans because it's Britty. It's disappointing to think about though, so I try not to.
I liked this episode a lot, from what I remember. [I only got to catch half tonight! I was so upset... I'll have to watch the second showing in an hour.] Rose's bit with the "we are not amused" is so funny, and I love the playful behaviour between the Doctor and Rose. It's cute and less gaggy than it can be, in this episode, I think.
"Innat that right, ya... timorous beastie?" xD

You know, it's funny. In my old US History classes, we had to learn about Henry VIII, Mary Queen of Scots, James V of Scotland, James I of England, and Elizabeth I because of how their reigns influenced the founding and protests of the Puritans (who would later be kicked out of the country, thus leading to the founding of several American Colonies, ect).
Had this episode been about any of those monarchs, I'd have been all over it. Of course, then we wouldn't have had that kickass scene where the freaking Queen pulled a revolver out of her handbag.

(Except for when they called a government building by a street name...but I'm straightened out on that now.) Its British nature is charming and quite refreshing. They have a subtler sense of humor than American shows, and when they act all crazy looney it's funny because of their accents. :anime: I think the best way to describe how I feel about the show and its country of origin is to compare the hilarous Trigger Happy TV to its slightly inferior American counterpart. Something about the nature of the humor was just lost along with the accents.
Oh, the episode. Right. Werewolves. Ick. But somehow Doctor Who made me like those ferral beasts more than usual. And the action was INTENSE in this episode. Even the Daleks don't seem this scary.
INSTANCES OF THE TORCHWOOD - Well, it's already been covered. And pretty obvious. Y'know, this anagram business actually inspired me to hide a subliminal scrambled message in a comic I'm developing...but I guess the words I'm trying to scramble just don't lend themselves to awesome names like Torchwood.

Well the thing about the Torchwood Institute is that unlike last year's Bad Wolf Corperation, the refferences aren't nearly as subtle and ultimately will mean something... except maybe that throwaway joke where it made its debut in "Bad Wolf" last season.

except maybe that throwaway joke where it made its debut in "Bad Wolf" last season.Y'know, I watched that episode several times, but it wasn't until it was shown in last Friday's early-morning marathon that I caught the Torchwood ref in "Bad Wolf". I kicked myself for that.
Slightly off-topic, but isn't the Torchwood series to premiere sometime soon?

Kool. Gotta remember to fire-up the ol' bittorrent.
What? It's not like I live in the UK or Canada. I may never see Torchwood.

I seriously need to get a Freeview box or I'm totally gonna miss Torchwood.
I dunno. To me, it felt serviceable. It set up Torchwood nicely, and gave me a chance to snicker at some good jokes, but it didn't hold my attention very well.
