--of an era. I actually felt nothing when the credits rolled. Then about a half hour later it hit me that that was the last we'll see of Daria. I know Eichler wanted to go out on a high note and not drown in a morass of mediocrity like, say, The Simpsons, but this fairly begs for a "Daria Diaries: The College Years" book at the very least. Something to tell us what the future holds.
And now the spoilers:
The most heartrending scene was Daria telling Tom she wanted to break up. The difference in social strata combined with the long-distance thing--I've done both, but never together--would complicate matters even more. I almost felt like it was me she walked out on.
A lot of growing up was done here--Jodie asserts her indepedence and crawls out from under her parents' thumb when she applies to the college she wants to go to rather than the elite academy they pick for her...Quinn realizes there is a world beyong eggshell leggings and bouncy hair, beyond the limiting high-school Fashion Club, after she associates with the college crowd and learns her coworker has an alcohol problem...Jane nearly gambles away her future on a fear of failure by not mailing away her portfolio to a Boston art college, and Trent, afraid of being lonely and left behind, emnables her....Kevin, repeating high school next year, is the dimbulb Peter Pan of the group, staving off growing up at least a while...O'Neill unwittingly propses to Barch...Daria's graduation speech may be the most frankly brutal and controversial oration since Lana Lang's mother left Smallville High....oh, and get this--Andrea, the goth girl, agrees to go out with Upchuck! It seems she was waiting for that moment all along. And I thought he and Staci were hitting it off so well at the magic show....
Daria will be missed. I'm still hoping she'll do a cameo in Beavis and Butt-Head's new film. If it's college-themed, and those two morons wander into Beantown somehow...it'd be a nice tie-together for the franchises....

God, that movie was great. I'm... in a way, very glad Daria ended though. I realized, while watching the film, noticing that this was also an end of an era for all characters in the show, that perhaps it was time to close the book. Time to graduate. And it ended so well... this movie was better than "Is It Fall Yet?" as well. Great ending of a great, great series.

edit: I'm not very glad... I'm glad though. It is indeed sad to see Daria no more.

I haven't seen this show in a few years. I thought they stopped making new episodes. Guess I was wrong.

That really sucks that it has ended, though. I remember it being one helluva great program.

Hope nobody's going to get PO'ed, and I hope this doesn't give anything away...In no particular order...

1. Daria's speech

2. Mr. DiMartino's reaction to the "proposal" (ROTF LMAO when I saw the eye go off and the jaw drop :D )

3. Stacy triggers the "sabbaticals"

4. The end credits with the stills

Add freely.
