So, anyone (just about anyone, if you know what I mean) who has access to moderate-speed Internet probably should check out the new Xdrive site (http://www.xdrive.com/)... running through the news the other day, I found out that AOL was offering 5 gigabytes of free data storage.
So, with my AOL e-mail account, I signed up (took about two minutes) and got into it. The interface is much like a computer's, where I can upload music, pictures, and any other kind of file I want to. Access is pretty simple, also. I haven't uploaded any files yet, but I intend to.

If you're just using it for small pictures and documents, then it's great. However, with USB drives you have fast transfer from PC to flash drive. I can't find if Xdrive has a file size limit though, but I imagine they do.
Other than that, not bad.

Xdrive's maximum size for an individual file is 2.5 GB
Not to bad. I just signed up. Although it will never replace a Flad Drive, because flash drives requre no downloads.

Hey, XDrive is back. I tried them and Driveway and a few others years back when they offered only 100mb. And they all died out. Or switched to pay-services. Then died out.
But the problem wasn't storage space. Space is cheap. NewEgg has 4 Gig USB Flash drives for as low as $66.99. The problem is transfer speed. Even on a high-speed internet connection, uploading 20 or 30 or 50mb files can take forever. Or, as with those free services a few years ago, not work at all. Usually when I tried, it timed out.
Still, it's not a bad service. Just not a particularly useful one.

I was kind of kidding about the whole "flash drive" thing. Mine is still very much useful, and will remain that way... until I get a better one.
