I happened to see a bit of the Huckleberry Hound Show last night, and noticed two things that got me to wondering....

1.When did Turner start putting HIS logo on the HB cartoons in that series group?

2.Where was the music under the title cards for these cartoons? I remember them having it, it's the same music that's on the Hanna Barbera Classics Volume 1 CD.

Anybody know? TIA

1. Pretty much straightaway Turner Broadcasting (pre-Time Warner and AOL) acquired H-B. Post-acquisition, Bill and Joe reported to Roger L. Mayer at Turner Entertainment Co. Initially it was the flying Turner emblem, later the character-montage sequence with "a [Turner emblem] company" in one corner.

2. Many copies of 1959-61 H-B shorts were re-constructed in the early 70s (?) after the (then Kellogg Company-sponsored) half-hour shows left network telly, and even then the opening credits came without la musique. Never found out why.

I don't get it either, they could always just dub the music over from another short, or from one of the many sound recordings they must have.

I was wondering, would it be possible for CN to show the old show openings to Yogi Bear and Huckleberry Hound? Even with all that Kelloggs stuff in them? I love those peppy openings, and they seem to feature fuller animation than the cartoons themselves.

You'd have to ask Kellogg Company that one, Jack...

I think that Kelloggs would cooperate. It's like free advertising. I think it would even be safe for CN to just run the old openings and trust that Kelloggs wouldn't take any action. Why were those openings changed in the first place?
