Doubts I had about a new actor were obliterated the minute he started going on about that button. To borrow a phrase, "Absolutely brilliant!"
The deadly Christmas tree and "Yes, I know who you are" gags were the funniest non-Doctor parts of the episode.
"It's pieces of the space ship burning up in the atmosphere. This isn't snow, it's ash."
"Well...not so beautiful now."
I LOVE IT!

Oh yeah that was awesome ^_^
I need to see this again in full format... I saw it again in the one hour version and a lot of the good parts were cut :/
I also liked the 'five word' bit at the end. That's the Doctor, his wit and brain are his most potent weapons!

I loved the Hitchiker's reference and the doctor just suddenly saying the lyrics to Circle of Life.

I missed it on SciFi but I've seen it before on CBC. So did SciFi edit it like they did with most of the episodes in season one? What did they cut out? I can't remember anything that would have been inappropriate for the hour. Speaking of which, the schedule says it ran for ninety minutes so you'd think that's more than enough time for adverts for an episode with a running time of sixty minutes.
What really annoys me about SciFi editting the episodes is that they still manage to find time to run their promos ad nausem, especially the little spots that do nothing more than remind you that you are watching SciFi. As if the little logo in the corner for the rest of the hour wasn't enough of a reminder!

I too saw it on CBC in it'S full 90 minute glory, but when season 2 started on Ztélé (in French... and before CBC oO ) 'The Christmas Invasion' was editted for time to fit into a 1 hour format. So they cut stuff like the explaination of how the Sycorax got hold of human blood and the entire scene at the end with the Torchwood weapon, the ash snowfall and the 'five words' thing :/ and the Doc's new look too. Kinda sucked. I hope CBC reruns the Christmas Invasion in 90 minutes format.

I didn't watch the 10:30 rerun, but according to the schedule grid that also ran 90 minutes.
EDIT: (Sees new post ^ ) Oh.

Now that the second series is done and I've seen 'em all, something I was wondering about the events of The Christmas Invasion comes to mind again:
What-ever happened to the Doctor's hand?
Back when I first watched it, I remember thinking that it would turn up somehow later in the series. Early in the movie, Rose makes a comment that a drop of the Doctor's blood could change Mankind's future. Later, the Doctor's hand falls to Earth somewhere.
Quite honestly, I half expected Torchwood to 'fess up to having it in a glass jar or something. ;) Maybe if the Daleks had it they wouldn't have needed Rose and Mickey for the Genesis Ark.

Mild Torchwood spoiler:
Captain Jack obtains the Doctor's hand. And keeps it in a glass jar. At Torchwood. No, really!
