Once again, we present some reviews of this highly anicipated television event. If you find spoilers frightening, you should seek professional help, or just stop reading now.
Our first review is from Craig Marinaro, who may lack skills as a basketball player, but can plant his tongue firmly in his cheek better than anyone:
This was not the best episode of any television show I have ever seen. To be brutally honest, I really wasn't expecting it to be.
The advertisements indicate that the episode features a guest star by the name of Shaquille O'Neal. I can confirm this. Having had no previous experience with this individual, I can only assume that he is a deity of some sort. Everywhere this "Shaq" creature goes, he is worshiped by villain and hero alike. And it's no wonder! He is kind to children, always smiling and cheerful, and fights criminals as well as Static without even breaking a sweat! He also performs some actions with a little orange ball at one point. Indeed, the only problem I had at all with the character was that the actor providing his voice was incredibly bland.
The plot was not all that enticing, and could basically be summed up in the one sentence, "The Boom Babies hunt Static down." On the bright side, since the story was almost nonexistent in all the Shaq hero-worship, what little there was was appreciated more than usual. The fact that Ferret-Boy so easily figures out Virgil is Static sort of deflates the importance of his "secret identity." The main purpose of it is presumably more to deceive his family than anything else.
They were presumably hoping the charisma of this Shaq character would carry the episode. Indeed, if his effect on the viewing audience is even close to the way he charms the cast of the show, this will easily become the most popular episode yet! He really is an incredibly nice guy.

Moving on... here are some thoughts from Bird Boy, a moderator on the World's Finest boards:
"Static Shaq" is, by all standards, my least favorite Static Shock episode, although, it had it's occasional good moment.
The story resembles the usual kid-meets-star-and-stutters-words and then they become good friends (I forget where, but I've seen that used before..). 3 of the Bang Babies (their names escape me at the moment) are out to hunt Static Down, as they are tired of being found by him.
In the end of the episode, Virgil and Shaq are trapped inside a building, with the Bang Babies outside, pounding on the door.
Virgil reveals to Shaq he's Static. Shaq acknowledges that, and lets Virgil go get his gear, while he holds off the 3 Bang Babies.
When the Bang Babies get in, he's able to take one out, but two others are left. One kicks shaq into a pile of football helmets. Then, Static arrives, and of course, prevails.
So, if you've been wanting to get into Static Shock, and this is your first episode...don't worry, not all episodes are like this. You may have the occasional laugh, but, it's not the most enjoyable episode.

The last of our reviews comes from Joe Tully, an Adult Swim board moderator:
As is obvious from the title, this episode guest-stars Shaquille O'Neal. You get to see Shaq and Static beat up some bad guys. This is the main draw of the episode, as the plot is weak and contains many holes, and there never seems to be any feeling of suspense or danger for the heroes. Like the Batman episode, the team-up feels kind of contrived, but again, I suppose that's somewhat expected from a half-hour show. I have to admit that I laughed at a few parts where I really wasn't supposed to. If I had to give this episode a grade, I think it would deserve a C. It's not worth specifically waking up early for, but I think you'll be somewhat entertained by it.
And there you have it! We hope it's not contagious.
