The Star of Sorrow (Pt. 1) more like Restart Roof Show.

So, the Father doesn't transform in this one despite witnessing a couple of deaths, and we have this unknown leader that appears to hate the church, yet finds them necessary, and then he burns down the church? It's a good thing this story continues next week, or I'd be classifying it as one of the worst stories of all time.

Shower scene.
You have to love when any episode begins with a chick in the shower. :D
Hmmm...burning a church down. That seems to go a little over the line doesn't it? Of course I've seen worse but this is the first time I've seen a sared place like that be torched to the ground.

The Father seems to be more Kenshin-y than Vash-y these past two episodes. What with the speeches and all.

kinda makes up for the male partial nudity on Eureka 7 this week... :p

Overall, slightly better than the last couple of week's- the priest shot/burning church scene at the end was pretty good. I'm still having a hard time getting into the show, though. I don't know what it is- the dub is fine and the show looks good, like most any Gonzo show. It just doesn't feel like it has any momentum, even though things are clearly happening on the screen. I guess I'm having a hard time figuring out the motivations of everyone, and that's diminishing my ability to get into the characters.

Still boring.

This was a pretty boring episode. It stretched out in certain parts, making me think this two parter (I think) could have easily been done in one episode. Hopefully the next part will prove me wrong. But still.... not a whole lot happened.

A decent episode. I would've liked to see Abel and Ester interact some more before the cliffhanger, though.

As suspected, the little girl in the last episode is nowhere to be found in this episode.

I wasn't digging this epsiode either. Yet another thing to prove that even though something can look great, if it has bad writing/bad plot, its almost unwatachable. Like someone else said, it was too hard to tell the characters motivations.

Well, I thought it was good. After the first two non-related episodes, this one is finally begining to form a plot. Would have been better if Abel had transformed, but he didn't really need to here, seeing as he only does it around other vampires.

Well, unlike most here, I like this show. 4/5

The episode was okay but if it doesn't get interesting soon then I'll just forget about it.

The character designs are still really awesome though.

Now I see why funi gave the Trnity Blood dvd release such great packaging...to get people to buy it. So far this series is nothing like Trigun or Bebop at all, even Gun x Sword is better than this. I'll give it one more eppy as well before I ditch it,but irght now I'd say this show is highly overrated.

I didn't quite follow the entire episode, but that was probably due to the fact that I had the volume was on low because my roomie was sleeping. From what I was able to follow, the episode felt a little slow, but it had the feelings of an actual plot beginning to form. I wasn't as interested as last couple of weeks, but I'll be following to see where this goes. I'm still enjoying this show more than many people here.

3/5

That city was Vienna, right? Anyone know where its new name came from?

Other than the setting, though, this ep was pretty boring.

Y'know, this show wouldn't bother me nearly as much if it didn't use the "fade" effect in EVERY FREAKIN' SCENE.

I think Trinity Blood is quite good so far. There's mystery and intrique building up in the background of human-vampire politics as Vatican troubleshooter Father Nightroad gets tangled up in these affairs.

Overall, I like the main character and the setting. I'd say it's far too early to be ditching this show. (^_*)

I really like Trinity Blood to, maybe though it's because I liked Trigun, and I have never watched Cowboy Bebop. I just like the emotional dynamics it can reach...though more characterization would be nice, and I think it will become more interesting once we get into this "war".

A red-haired girl in a shower scene, and she's VAed by Colleen Clinkenbeard? Geese, FUNi really is pulling out all the stops trying to get me to keep watching this show!

Seriously, though, the characters and storyline seem to still lack a compelling nature... the action is the only thing keeping the show afloat for me right now.

The church burning made this episode, though... powerful scene.

"The Star of Sorrow, Part 1": 7/10.

I thought Ester's character was enough to make this a solid episode. Judging by the end credits, she's gonna be around for a while (that's her right?), so it'll be between her and Father Knightroad to keep me interested in this show, and she defenitely did it for me here.

Strange--I thought it was Budapest. Both sides of a river and all... Apparently, it is Budapest.

At first I thought it might be Istanbul ("Ishtvan") but the scenery was all wrong, and the scenario of a dispute between the East Empire and Western Church sent me to Wiki, where I found this little passage in the entry for the "Kingdom of Hungary (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Hungary)":

- In connection with the adoption of Christianity, the question of vital importance was whether Hungary should join the western or the Eastern Orthodox Church. Formerly (around 948) the Hungarian noblemen joined the Byzantine Church.

- In the autumn of 972 the archbishop of Mainz ,Bruno of Querfurt was sent as bishop of the Hungarians by Pope Silvester II to spread western Christianity among the Hungarians. (Hmm, sounds almost like Abel's mission...)

- He christened chief prince Géza and his family also. Géza got the name István when he was christened, his wife, Sharolt, was baptised by a Greek bishop in her early childhood.

So, there you go.

Then there's the original Japanese version, in which Ester is voiced by Mamiko Noto, who is currently a fan favorite among seiyuu fans (me included).

Yo um, isn,t the father a little bit to old for his new friend, the girl with red hair. Do they actually get togeather? I mean from the ending they look like lovers or something.

Err... He is an ancient superhuman creature. If you want him to only date a mortal human near his age, the only option would be dead people...

That or the Empress but she's not a normal human and basically his little sister... but he was in love with his older sister so um...

And I'm guessing the entire Abel/Ester relationship didn't develop much in the series because the series take place in under one year while in the novels it's based on the events take place over about three years.

Don't forget that, much like women in Japan, anime girls are drawn to look younger than they actually are.

Your roommate goes to sleep at 12:00 on a Saturday? I used to do that, but then my roommate and his friends would always come home drunk at 3 am and I realized that going to sleep at 12:00 on a Saturday was no longer acceptable.

Really? I usually find the opposite to be true. I mean, Kagome on Inu-yasha looks a lot older than the average high schooler.

Speaking of which, did anyone else here have the following problem? The screen was so bright, especially in the fade effects, that I couldn't even see the woman's mouth. The same thing happened on Bleach. And in the bumper cards, the white words were so blurry against the background color I couldn't even read them.
Maybe it's just my TV. I have a Polaroid brand and it's had a similar problem before (the red was too bright), but I was able to fix it then. This time I can't, even by adjusting the brightness and contrast.

That happened to me once, too, but I thought it was just interference or something...
