As expected, Black Hawk Down took top honors this weekend at the box office, easily dethroning Lord of the Rings and A Beautiful Mind to become the top movie of the weekend. Below's the rundown:

1. Black Hawk Down - $29,000,000 ($30.8 mill)
2. Snow Dogs - $17,500,000 ($17.5 mill)
3. The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings - $13,025,000 ($246 mill)
4. A Beautiful Mind - $11,000,000 ($73.9 mill)
5. Orange County - $9,000,000 ($26.9 mill)
6. Ocean's Eleven - $5,705,000 ($170.6 mill)
7. The Royal Tenebaums - $4,300,000 ($36.3 mill)
8. Kate & Leopold - $3,400,000 ($42 mill)
9. Gosford Park - $3,314,816 ($11.2 mill)
10. Vanilla Sky - $3,100,000 ($93.2 mill)

Snow Dogs also fared well, since it was the only new 'family' film in quite sometime. Next week, the new movie Kung-Pow opens...and I doubt it's gonna open big. The Mothman Prophecies is expected to be the bread winner for the next week. Should be interesting...

I'm suprized Snow Dogs made any money.
LotR finally steps off its thrown, and A Beautiful Mind still doesn't get the credit it deserves.
My friend got a bootleg copy of the last hour of Vanilla Sky, so we watched it during our lunch break the other day....I wish I knew what happened in the beginning, but the ending was incredibly good. I have to see it, now!

Kung Pow!! Huh..I think I can wait untill its out on video......and free....

Beautiful Mind is working it's way to the top. I bet after the Golden Globes it may be bumped up abit higher. The movie is doing really good, though. The drop offs have been mini-scule, showing it has great staying power.

Someone would have to pay me to see Kung Pow. I really hope that Beautiful Mind will be recognized more, it's an incredible movie, and Russell Crowe is such an amazing actor. You can really see just how good of an actor this man is when you see that movie. There hasn't been a family film in a while, well, Harry Potter yes, but not like the regular old family films, so I'm not surprised if Snow Dogs does well. I'm also not surprised that Black Hawk Down is doing so well, it's suppose to be fantastic, and I can't wait to see it. Too bad LOTR is getting pushed down, but it did very well while it was up on top.

Hopefully the Globes last night will help drum up some interest in the movie. A Beautiful Mind swept some of the major categories so that should turn some heads it's direction. Hopefully the same can be said for Keifer Sutherland's award for 24...
