Caught this new show yesterday morning, airing at 11:30 AM EST (replacing or displacing "The Weekenders" apparently). Quite frankly, I would've preferred the "Weekenders" based on what I've seen, and here's a few reasons (worded in an amusing way) why:
(The Utonium household....inside, we see the Powerpuff Girls have just finished watching "Teamo Supremo", and look anything *but* pleased....)
BLOSSOM: Um....guys? Did we just see what I think we saw?
BUTTERCUP: Yeah.... (frowning) "Teamo Supremo"? More like "Teamo Lame-o"!
BUBBLES: Why did they keep shouting stuff like "Boo-yeah" or "cheek-a" or "whoop-ta" or, um, whatever? Are they trying to talk like babies?
BUTTERCUP: Beats me....I wanna know where they got their names from? "Skate Lad"?! "Rope Girl"?!? (Snickers)
BLOSSOM: I mean, they don't even *have* any superpowers, and they stopped all those bad guys by hitting them with *jump ropes*?!?
BUTTER: I thought they were given "super" jump ropes...
BLOSSOM: Oh, right, they more or less *bought* "Teamo" some superpowers....did Princess write this?!
BUTTERCUP: Yeah, and they reported to the *governor*, instead of the *mayor*?! (Fake-coughs) *Cough**cough*ripoff*cough**cough*....
BUBBLES: I think the colors were *cute*.
BLOSSOM: Maybe so, but *cute colors* don't a superhero make. Or in this show's case, how they just gathered together a few kids off the playground and started fighting crime just like that....
PROFESSOR: (Hearing all this) Now, girls, I'm sure that show wasn't all that....bad... (sees the design of the "Governor" in a promo for next week's show) (Snickers) *That*'s the way they drew the governor?! He looks like that painting of Picasso we saw at the museum....last..week...sorry, girls... (walks off, laughing; the girls merely shrug at each other)
----
All in all, one of the things that crossed my mind was a, erm, probably-not-Board-friendly (though not R-rated by any means) new name to call "Teamo Supremo" (besides "Powerpuff Girls Ripoff"), so I won't post it here (though I guess Belch might find it amusing ;-)

Me too. I would have much rather enjoyed watching a Rocket Power wanna-be than a Powerpuff knock-off. And I'm sure it will be just a matter of time before the rocket scientists at Disney Animation decide they want to clone Samurai Jack too.

I was very ticked that "The Weekenders" was moved to make way for this. I didn't see it, though. This show could've easily replaced:
Mary-Kate and Ashley in Action! - I don't care how attractive the girls may be in animated form; when push comes to shove, this show is deadweight!
Lizzie McGuire or Even Stevens - I have nothing against these shows; it's just that, well...don't people get enough of LM and ES on The Disney Channel?
Recess - This show is okay, but way overexposed. I mean, look at the facts: two episodes every Saturday morning plus a movie (released Feb. 2001). C'mon!
Also, what's this about "The Weekenders" being a "Rocket Power" wanna-be?! Where I come from, them's fightin' words! Or maybe...this is an alternate universe, where the sky is brown and network executives are intelligent.

Well, there are some similarities between Weekenders and Rocket Power. Both shows are set in a beach town with an amusement park in it, and both shows have a set of four kids who live for having fun and have a straight-A genius in the group. RP has Sam (Squid) Dullard, while Tish is the Shakespeare-spouting genius.

I was very ticked that Weekenders was bumped (though for some reasons the only new episodes came out on the syndicated block. Go fig.) This decreases the watchable shows on the ABC morning block to three. I mean, really, how long have the New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh been running?!
Not impressed with what little I saw of Team-o Supreme-o. What a title.

If memory serves, since the late 1980's (1987 or 1988), making them about 14-15 years old...and having been on the air since *I* was a kid (in junior high school, which feels like a zillion years ago by now). Maybe I should've made a joke about this length of staying power in one of the Superboy references I had in those fanfic stories (SUPERBOY: Gee, the same episodes *again*. Oh, well...I'm sure they'll cancel this show *someday*. I mean, it's not like they'd keep showing the same two dozen episodes week in and week out for the next 15 *years*....).

I think the title was probably indicative of the amount of creativity in the whole thing (or the *most* creative aspect of the whole thing) ;-)

i've got my own name for it, my friend--a clear The Ripping Friends ripoff! From one preview alone I could see it was a watered-down attempt from The Mouse to cash in on Fox's success. I'm not sure what's worse--Disney's strip-mining of its past sucesses or their blatant plagiarizing .
I did see the MK&A show in passing. Cute character designs, I'll admit it, but those girls are about as wooden as sequoias in the v/o booth.
I just caught a bit of it today. Apparently, Mark Hammil was voicing a clown. I'm pretty sure that, that was him. Anyone else see this?
I really did not like this series. Ugh...

I saw today's "Teamo" for several minutes---apparently more of the same as seen last week (jump ropes and yoyos being thrown at bad guys, answering to Townsville's Mayor--er, I mean, "The State's Governor", bizarre one-syllable statements that make them sound like one-year-olds {"chik-ah", "boo-yah", or whatever....} *and*, even worse, is supposedly their "battle cries" as well [um, yeah. Not exactly "Avengers Assemble!"....]). Also saw the clown; the voice sounded familiar, and the clown's appearance himself reminded me a bit of "Mr. Mime"/"Rainbow the Clown" from that PPG's episode. Probably won't bother to tune back in anytime soon (unless there's *really* nothing on TV)...

You said it! Beaucoup stock shots, and the "Birthday Bandit" character was Hey-Cartoon-Network-I-Dare-Ya-to-Sue-Me derivative. If this show gets a Mojo-Jojo-like monkey character on the show, it's gonna be in biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig trouble (and I DON'T mean ratings trouble!)
