talk about your thoughts on the continuity between B:TAS, TNBA, BB, and JL.

Or the continuity of the Comics in relation to the shows...

There's a continuity between BTAS and TNBA, although there are A LOT of thing different in TNBA.

BB is just a spin-off, based on TNBA but it's nothing more than another Elseworld story. (And if you wanna know the truth, it's WB's answer for the kid's demand of teen-aged superheroes)

It's funny you mention continuity. In Batman's Static Shock appearance, not only is Robin older than he is in ROTJ, but they use the old style Batwing as well. Those two aspects right there contradict TNBA. But, as Timm and Dini said, BB is only a possible future. Continuity is a tricky thing, especially when it ends up contradicting itself...:)

I am a die-hard fan of the Animated series. And for me that is the Real continuity. Yet fans of the mainstream comics always feel they need to explain to us why the mainstream is infact the real continuity.

I know that is said that TNBA is more realistic then the mainstream, but that was just because i was pissed.
There is infact no "real continuity" Only what you personaly consider the real one. I meen, the 60's TV show is far from realsitic, but still there are thousands of people who consider Yvonne Graig to be the only real Batgirl.
Others think Cassandra Cain is the real Batgirl. And some even consider the Batman & Robin movie to be the true continuity. (I don't think i want to know those though)
I as a die-hard obsessive TNBA Batgirl/Barbara Gordon fan/lover, know that i can never convince a Cassandra Cain fan that my Babs is the true Batgirl. Just like a Creationist can never convince an Evolutionist of his beliefs.
We are Bat-fans, but each with our own religion about the characters or the world they live in.

I say Natalie Portman is a lovely adorable intelegent actress, other people say different. It is an endless discussion without winners or losers.

And that's just the whole reason why BB/ROTJ is officially an alternate look on Batman's future, is so that some fans can say It might happen, and others can say it might not happen at all. I don't think Bruce and Paul would have wanted it any other way.

Well, It is possible that this takes place about a year after TNBA, so i don't think it contradicts TNBA in the way it contradicts BB. And unless i missed the Episode where B:TAS Batwing blows up, who says Batman doesn't still use it from time to time, whem the new one needs repairing. But that's just my opinion.

The son of my mother's best friend was 13 when i first met him, now about ten months later i see him again and all of a sudden he's becomming a man! His voice is lower and he's grown like 4 or 5 centimeters!!
So, this could easily be a few moths after TNBA. 13 year-olds can grow like crazy. So, i think this is actually more realistic as continuity to TNBA, rather then contradicting it.
It does however contradict BB/ROTJ.

Anyhoo, i always expected the present day Batman adventures to overwrite BB at some point.

However, imo, I can just ignore the fact that Robin is going to look older in Static Shock than he did in ROTJ. If you look closely at the regullar comics, Tim Drake often looks older in some stories while younger in others. Furthermore, I think many superheroes have looked older in different incarnations or when drawn by other artists. The fact that Robin looks slightly older in Static Shock can be overlooked I believe.

Continuity is tricky. But I feel like even though people keep saying BB is a possible future, it is continuous to the Batman series in the animated universe.

there is no real continuity, because if it existed, a lot of things couldnt make sense, but thats the fun of it, discussing if it exists or not. and if continuity existed, how come a lot of the villains die and come back together. and the 60s show was weird because king tut was a villain, what was up with that, lol

I'm going to have to take the excesstential (sp) view and say... It doesn't matter.

Let's face it: BB is a possible future. But also, wouldn't that make BTAS and TNBA possible presents?

Everybody likes different parts of different continuities. Why can't we just enjoy everything for what it is, and not worry too hard about continuity. So Dini said BB was a possible future. So what? He still made 3 seasons of it. The stories are just as real as those in BTAS adn TNBA.

Personally, i enjoy MOTP. However, i also like some of the comics like Batman Year One, and The Killing Joke, which are not in the same continuities as the animated movie. And in fact, these three stories contradict each other.

Does that make any one of them less enjoyable? Not for me.

I guess i just take each story for what it is, and either enjoy it or not, based on that.

Like i said, it's sorta like religion. And everyone has his own Batman-religion.
Mine is TNBA focused on Babs. But i know Bobby Boy's is both TNBA and BB focused on Selina.

But, i stopped don't really care about the animated continuity anymore. I feel safe in TNBA/JLA timeframe. And i don't see BB as a continuation of TNBA, cause it hasn't happend yet. It takes place 40 to 50 years in the future. Wich, whether people accept it or not, is a possible future. BB is a nice "What if Batman got old" story. Just like Steven Spielberg's "Hook" is a story about 'What if Peter Pan grew up"

But anyhoo, don't worry about what i think, choose what you think. That's the message of this post, i guess.

I think Sassy and optimal put things very well, (even though Sassy is tragically deluded about who the BEST batgirl is :D )

Even though I LOVE the comics very much, for me the animated series will allways be the real continuity, simply because it was the first one I was interested in. I watched the cartoons for a long time before I started reading the comics, so for me, the cartoons are "realer" (mmm...call webster's) than the comics, even though I love them both. Besides, it IS fun arguing about whether something really happened or not- I wouldn't want to be left without TMOTP or Batman: year one- I want them BOTH.

lol!!!:D :) :D

Actually, i don't really know Cassandra Cain that well, cause i stopped reading the comics after No man's land. And even then i only read Nightwing.

I'm completely focused on Barbrara Gordon in TNBA. I fell completely in love with the character, and it just doesn't happen again, i guess. I've tried, you know as an experiment. First i thought is was Cartoon girls with red hair and big blue eyes, but after watching "The little mermaid" 73 times, i realized this wasn't the case...

Then i thought it might be the animation style, but there is no other character in TNBA that has what Barbara has. in STAS there is Supergirl, and she comes a lot closer then all the other BTAS/STAS characters, but still does not equal my feelings for Barb.

So, i've come to realize that i'm not at all obsessed with female cartoons, but i just fell in love with Barbara who happens to be animated. :D

Paul Dini once commented that he doesn't believe in continuity, even in regards to BTAS and TNBA.
