Does anybody else find it strange that the people who make public domain videos will put racial cartoons on tapes that are primarily aimed at kids? I have found "Robinson Crusoe Jr.", "All This and Rabbit Stew", "Porky's Ant", "Flop Goes the Weasel", and a whole bunch of others like them on PD tapes. I'm not complaining or anything, because without these videos, I wouldn't have any of these cartoons :D I'm just think that it's pretty strange.

I have a german PD video with "Daffy the Commando".
Crazy, isn't it?

Racist cartoons are put on Public Domain tapes all the time. Obviously, the makers of the tapes don't care, and it might even help them sell to collectors. Those cartoons that are less likely to make it to an official release might find their way to video that way. As a result, people are exposed to different cartoons.

I would be surprised if the makers of some of those cheap PD tapes even *watch* the cartoons they release on them. I have an ELMER FUDD & FRIENDS video with a cover that proudly proclaims: "PARENTS APPROVED VIDEO!". It includes the uncut version of "An Itch In Time" and "Jungle Jitters". :p

They probably don't watch them. I used to have a PD Daffy Duck tape that listed "Daffy Duck and the Dinosaur" as "Scrap Happy Daffy", "Daffy the Commando" as "Yankee Doodle Daffy", "To Duck or Not to Duck" as "Robin Hood Makes Good", and "Yankee Doodle Daffy" as "Cobweb Hotel" :p .

Oh yeah, I remember those "Parent Approved Videos". Tapes in the same series had "Porky's Ant", "Inki and the Lion", and "All This and Rabbit Stew".

J'ai 3 vidéos PD (pas pédé, mais public domain) et les voici:
Family Tyme- Daffy Duck
"Yankee Doodle Daffy"
"To Duck or Not to Duck"
"Inki and the Mynah Bird"
"I Wanna Be a Sailor"
Family Tyme - Popeye
"Popeye and the Aladdin's Lamp" (Popeye)
"I Wanna Be a Sailor" (encore?)
"Jungle Jitters"
Bugs Bunny
"The Wacky Wabit"
"Song of the Bird" (Fleischer)
"Mary's Little Lamb" (Iwerks)
"Porky's Bear Facts" (la musique un peu... bof!)
Par contre dans ma cassette de Bugs Bunny, la fin originale fut remplacée par un décor avec le logo "The End".

The cartoon is about Porky looking for the pygmy ant (from "Porky's Midnight Matinee) in the jungle. Porky also has a little African guide with him. The ant follows the guide because of the bone in his hair is bigger than the ant's. The ant finally gets to wear the big bone in the end.
Also, about those Parent Approved Videos. I bought the Daffy Duck one for about $0.50 at a yard sale, and I was wondering if anybody else's copy of this has muffled voices talking in the background throughout the whole video. Mine does, and it kind of creeped me out when I first heard it.
