In the DCAU and DCU how did Bruce Wayne meet Jason Blood? How did they meet each other and learn of one anothers identities (Batman/Etrigan)?

Well its been a little while since i read the story, but Batman and Jason Blood first meet each other in the animated universe in Batman Adventure Annual 2. It involves them battling Ras Al Ghul. I believe it was written by Paul Dini and was later republished in the Batman Adventures: Dangerous Dames and Demons TPB.

In that episode they mention that they knew each other previously (that's why Bruce bought him the iron branding stick for a million; it was for a friend not a stranger).

Can you detail the story of what happened with Ras and Wayne & Blood more?

Not really, sorry. Its been awhile since ive read the story and most of my comics from back then are boxed up and stored away in my parents basement. Its a little difficult to get to and i probably wont be getting to my parents anytime soon. The only thing i really remember (and i may be wrong about this) is that both Batman and Ras are racing towards some kind of magic artifact and Batman recruits Jason Blood to help him. I do know it suggested that Blood and Ras have a history from long before that. There was also a continuity gap where Batman had to read Bloods "poem" to turn him into Etrigan, not Blood himself.
If anybody else with a better memory of the story, or a copy of it more available wants to fill in the further details, please go ahead.

It depends on how much someone is selling it for. If you find it for under $5 then maybe. Its about 10+ years old, so it might be kinda difficult to find and may be overpriced. I think your best bet is to try to track down the much newer Batman Adventures: Dangerous Dames and Demons Trade Paperback. It'll probably be easier to find and a better deal. For $15 (cover price), you'll get the Etrigan story as well as "Mad Love" and a handful of other Batman Adventures stories written by Paul Dini (including an excellent short Ventriliquist story).

So R'as Al Ghul's enemies now include Batman, Johnah Hex and Etrigan too? Interesting...and more epic.
On a side note, I think its funny how Bats and Johnah team up in Once and Future Thing but dont realize they both will fight a common foe in respective time periods.
Now that I think about it, would have been awesome if Batman, GL and Wonder Woman met Etrigan then (which could explain how Blood eventually would know of Batman in the time period of TNBA) and the episode would have been VERY interesting with a younger R'as. Maybe even meet Hal Jordan as a baby and confirm him to be John Stewart's predecessor during the WW I era. Ah, missed opportunities.

I would say that Ras al Ghul is enemies with the entire JLU since we know about the apocalypse of '09.That would be cool if WB agrees to do it (I know I keep saying that but I can't help it).

We really dont know if the JLU had anything to do with the "Near Apocalypse of '09", just Batman.

While I don't have the issue on hand, I'll do my best to summarize it.
One night in Gotham, an office building is blown up by Ra’s and his men (three or four of them I believe). They go to the site looking for something. Batman having seen the explosion a few buildings away confronts Ra’s and his men. Ra’s has his some of men distract Batman as he and one of his men search for the object of their desire. The man finds it, and despite Ra’s warning, touches it and is killed. After chanting an invocation, Ra’s is capable of picking up the tablet with no harm. Batman makes his way to Ra’s and is hit from behind by one of Ra’s men. Batman is knocked out.
After coming to, Batman makes his way to a high rise apartment in Gotham, where Jason Blood is sitting in a nice chair, with a book in one hand, a fire in the fire place, and wearing a nice robe. Blood asks Batman why he’s there, and Batman says that he knew that Blood had helped Gordon with a series of murders linked to tarot cards, and came for his help. Batman tells Blood where he fought Ra’s, and explains that Ra’s was after a tablet, that killed a man who touched it. Blood knows of the tablet, and begins to tell Batman a story about it. (I don’t have the issue on hand, and I’m shaky on the names of things, so bare with me.)
Hundreds of years ago, Ra’s was after the tablet. Blood had tracked it to a temple (a Mayan temple I believe), when Ra’s and his men arrive to take the tablet. Ra’s men subdue Blood, and Ra’s attempts to take the tablet, when Blood transforms into the demon Etrigan. Etrigan kills Ra’s men and takes the tablet as the temple collapses.
In present day, Blood explains that he buried it in Gotham in the hope that Ra’s would never find the tablet. He explains that the tablet will summon one of the seven major archfiends of Hell, Haak. I believe he also says that the summoning ceremony must be performed in a certain place, and before a certain time.
As Batman and Blood continue to talk, Blood’s door is blown up. Talia appears, and shoots a dart into Blood’s neck. She sees Batman and says seeing him was unexpected, and shoots him too.
The next few pages are a bizarre dream sequence that I won’t get into unless someone wants me to.
As the dream ends, Batman hears a clock tower with its' bells ringing, and looks out of a window to see a church.
In the church, Ra’s has had him men make a circle and light candles for the ceremony Ra’s is about to perform. Ra’s instructs Talia to stand near him during the ceremony, and not to leave the circle.
In the Batmobile, Batman and Blood race to the Church. Blood tells Batman that he will see things he’s never seen before, Batman says that he’s seen a lot of odd things already. Blood then tells Batman that if things get bad, he must recite a specific set of words…
Ra’s summons Haak, and it kills his men. Ra’s tells Haak that he must obey him. Haak reluctantly agrees since Ra’s has the tablet.
Batman and Blood arrive to stop Ra’s. Haak grabs Blood, and is happy to be able to finally kill him. As Haak begins to burn Blood in his hand, Batman recites the summoning spell to bring Etrigan about. Etrigan is summoned and begins to fight Haak.
Batman punches Ra’s and comments that he should feed Ra’s to his own monster. Talia slaps Batman across the face as he grabs the tablet and takes off.
Etrigan takes the tablet and recites the spell to banish Haak back to hell. (This detail I’m sketchy on, I think he was banished back by the tablet, but I’m not sure.) Etrigan then destroys the tablet, despite the fact that Blood would want it. Batman then recites the spell to bring Blood back.
Blood returns, and Batman notices that Talia is gone. He tells blood that next time she won’t be so forgiving, since he used her to get at Ra’s. Blood tells Batman that everyone has their own demons to face. Batman fires a grapnel line, and swings off into the night.

Wow! Awesome! Thanks for the summary! I got a question though: How does Blood/Etrigan learn that Batman is Bruce Wayne? Is it discussed in the comic?

No problem, it's pretty complete, since I don't have the issue on hand, and I believe the tablet had a name (again, I could be mistaken). As for how Blood/Etrigan learns that Bruce is Batman, it's not explained here. So, you have to fill in the blanks yourself.

Ra's Al Guhl and Etrigan have crossed paths? Awesome!
Now that I think about it, I'm sure that Etrigan has also crossed paths with Shining Knight (They both knew King Arthur and Merlin... shouldn't they know each other pretty well? Though Shining Knight might consider Etrigan a traitor... would have made a good JLU episode!) and probably Vandal Savage as well (such as when Vandal Savage took control of the Holy Roman Empire, or was a general in Napoleon's army). Good, good stuff. :)
And since Etrigan is more or less immortal, like the other heroes & villians I mentioned above, why wouldn't he still be around as a reserve JLU member in Batman Beyond's time? ;)
