Projections of how much money a movie will take in have been wrong so often, that it is really interesting...Lately I have been going back through old threads, and discovered that there some posters projecting l00 million for Shrek which actually took in close to 300 million if you include video rentals, without- about 266 million...No one knows. (I do not know the figure of VCR and DVD sales which may have been huge)
..I thought that Snakes on a Plane would easily do 100 million with the advance publicity......don't thing so.
..This only shows how inacurate the predictions can be and how, in the end, the movie going public are really the final deciders on success or failure of a film, or an actor's career or even a studio for that matter.
..Even if a film grosses a lot. it may still mean nothing..In an earlier thread, it was pointed out by some, that "Superman Returns" may need at least 400 million, to break even,,,,some said a lot more...I think it is now stuck at about 195 millon...Projections were for much more..It is as someone once said.a "risky business.":)
