For the longest time I'd done my best to stick with ReBoot themed avatars; kinda as a flame to show my never-ending passion for the show. But...it was a gimmick that wore out its welcome for myself and myself alone. I stumbled on some old concept art for the Intruder and I thought it'd make a kick ass avatar and voila.

I try not to change my avatar too much because I very much associate Avatars with online identity; so it's stuck since. :)

here it depends on the show I'm most interested in at the time,,, that I can get great pictures to use. I miss Sampo :sad: Choosing a good avatar then receiving a "great avatar" PM out of the blue is aways fun. When I see a good one someone else is using, I also try to see if they have or know where to find the originals. I find the best online images outside of Google and some characters are nearly impossible to find.

Simply put, the DCAU (Batman:TAS, Superman:TAS, Justice League, Batman Beyond) is my favorite animated universe, so I wanted to make my avatar a little advertisement when Justice League was still airing new episodes.

Why the Joker? Because he's one of my all-time favorite DCAU villians! Like Batman, he can survive in a world of aliens & gods by using his brain more than his brawn. Remember, the Joker almost killed Superman and Green Lantern, and took down Solomon Grundy without a single punch -- and he's an otherwise 'regular' human being!

I rarely change avatars. I had one which was just an image of myself I took while in front of the computer just as a means of self-ID (I know, this violates some Internet Safety Rule, I just don't know which one). Why I changed to this avatar is a long story.

There was a time when I had considered leaving the forum for reasons I choose not to divulge at this time, until one of the mods said something inspiring to me when I told them I wanted my info to be removed. So in order to reflect the change in myself, I decided to change my avatar, user title, and sig.

Well, I had my previous one for over a year. So it was time for something new.

My avatar is a small piece of Edward Hopper's painting, "New York Movie."

I seeked this one out because I wanted something to show urban alienation--big city dwellers who, despite being around a lot of people, felt somewhat overwhelmed and introverted.

Having just moved into a big city on my own, I've found myself a bit lost and dumbfounded at times, and having to take a few moments every now and again to think over what I'm going to do.

I'm also a "Dead Like Me" fan, which referenced this painting in an episode about the strange extroverted-introverted nature of the character of Daisy.

Why?

My dad served in the US Army during WW2 as a member of the 36th, 141st battalion, Company B. He went to North Africa, then onto Italy. He rarely talked about his time there, but he did fight in two of the bloodiest battles in WW2, Rapido River and Monte Cassino, where he was wounded. He recieved a purple heart and sent home.

He married my mom, and brought me and my seven siblings into the world.
My father died in 1991.

I chose the T Patch as my avatar as a salute to him and all those mostly forgotten American heroes who bled the muddy soil of Italy red.
History may put them as a mere footnote to the Normandy Invasion, but I never will.

I want you to understand all the best that you can so let me explain: Broodstars live in the fictional world of Mirrodin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirrodin_%28plane%29) a plane that is made entirely of metal, with a hollow core. This planet has five suns, one for each color of Magic. All creatures on the plane have metal integrated with flesh. This harsh world is covered with many landforms. Plains of sheets of metal cover vast areas, vegetated by razor-sharp steel "grass". The "oceans" of this world are actually liquid mercury, called QuickSilver in the books. Large, twisting silver spires rise from these seas, forming islands.

It is interesting to note that a creature would have to be extremely dense in order to be able to swim in the Quicksilver;), Metals even as dense as lead are not dense enough to sink in mercury. Residents of the islands would easily be able to walk to shore without the aid of a boat. Yet in the storyline, there is a thriving ecosystem beneath the rolling, shimmering waves.

Broodstars resemble tadpoles with strange wings and metal parts on their bodies. Although never encountered in the Magic novels, these creatures roam the Quicksilver oceans of Mirrodin devouring constructs and other metals. The Broodstar is a creature whose power and toughness are decided by the amount of artifacts its owner has in play. This means that, given the player has enough artifacts, it can become a very strong creature. It also has flying, and an affinity for artifacts, which make it a powerful card for affinity decks.

So Why is Broodstar my avatar – Well, you see, I am a Magic: the Gathering player, the first set of cards I ever bought was a pre-constructed deck named Bait and Bludgeon, (http://www.wizards.com/magic/displaythemedeck.asp?set=mirrodin&decknum=1&lang=en) this affinity base deck contains cards for start playing the game for beginners, and the card Broodstar was one of the cards contained in the deck and it was by far the best card there, so you could say that I’ve chosen Broodstar as my avatar because of a sentimental link I have with that card (Now that sounded just silly)

There's a few factors with my current avatar (which looking it makes me think it has minor gigantism). Essentially it's a bigger version of my deviantArt one. It's Seirou Gundam, from bonus art of the cover of the second volume of the manga he appears in. I was making 80 x 80 pics of each of the main cast for a GIF avatar but after making the third one (Seirou), I liked it enough to just use that. The title was tricky and hopefully people won't misinterpret it as me being arrogant. Seirou's a semi-cliche character in that he has incredible hunting skills and is seeking a worthy challenge. That's what my title refers to. I don't consider my fellow members to be prey :sweat:

I failed to explain my avatar properly, so here goes for the two of you who actually care: Every year when 24 is on (Every Monday at 9pm EST/PST!) I add the number 24 to a picture of Temple Fugate from the DCAU. Three years ago I had drawn my own picture of him, and it didn't look all that great. So the last couple of times it's been a screengrab from either BTAS or his one appearance on JLU. This year I felt more confident so I drew him again. (Adding some complimentary lighting from below.)
