Hey, I've got a question about this week's episode. Why did the head bad guy (sorry, don't recall his name) decide not to kill Jack's wife and daughter? I know he got that phone call from Jamie, but I completely missed what she said and why that upset him so much. What happened? Why does he still need the two of them?

I think he decided to not kill Jack's wife and daughter because Jamie told him that Jack had been "going bad" for a while and he didn't secretly double cross him and get the guards to come for him on purpose. So I'm assuming that by keeping them alive he'll be able to use Jack again.

It makes sense that he could use Jack again. Though that'll be much more difficult now since Jack's in custody and the CTU knows his wife and daughter are being held. Do you remember exactly what Jamie had said in the phone call?

I tape each episode 'cause I can't watch it on the night it airs....so I went to that part again and Jaime says:
"I just found out that Division has just picked up Bauer at the powerplant, they've been looking for him all night. I assume it's because he's been breaking protocol ever since you got to him."

Hmmm....I still don't see how that would keep his wife and kids alive. Jack has...well...basically been breaking protocol since Gaines took over. The big thing is - the disc is still in Jack's room, right? Isn't anyone gonna get to that? Next week Jack breaks out from custody and is on the run, which is gonna make things a heckuva lot more interesting.

It does make some sense, because Jaime's words suggest that Bauer himself didn't do anything to screw the plans, which means he could still be used. But then, the knowledge does seem to be out now that Bauer's family is in danger. In any case, with Jack's family still alive, he can still be controlled. The threat of their death is still there.
There was mention of the disc in the episode, so I'm assuming they've got it or will have it soon.

They mentioned that they found the key card in Jack's office so they should have it.

That's right! I wonde rif they guy will get back to decoding it in the next episode. The whole plot around Jack now being on run from the FBI has got me on the edge of my seat!
