Think about what this is going to do to kidsWB if 4kids does pull Pokemon, Cubix and Yu-Gi-Oh! (and Card Captors, even though kidsWB isn't airing it right now). Those are kidsWB's breadwinners. Dang.

So right now what does that leave them to compete with? The new Scooby-Doo, the new Ninja Turtles (maybe if CN doesn’t snatch it up), Rescue Heroes, Jackie Chan Adv., X-Men: Ev, Static, Zeta, and The Nightmare Room. And the Mummy, can't forget the Mummy. :rolleyes

I think karma has finally gotten around to paying kidsWB back for what they did to Batman, Superman, & Batman Beyond. Yay! :)

Bah, does this mean they're isn't even the slightest chance Escaflowne will resurface now.

"Cardcaptors" is owned by Nelvana. As is "Rescue Heroes," which will probably be gone next season, in addition to "Cardcaptors." "The Nightmare Room" is horrible and I don't think it will come back, but it's ratings are somewhat decent. "X-Men: Evolution" definitely will be back, in addition to "Jackie Chan Adventures." "Static Shock" has a better chance of coming back then "Zeta," but their second season ratings will determine if they get picked up or not.

Kids' WB! can beat the new Fox Kids next year. Maybe it won't have "Pokemon," but this may be why they announced the "All New Scooby-Doo." In addition, there's "Ozzie and Drix," most likely "Ninja Turtles," possibly "Ninja Boy," "Transformers: Armada" new "Looney Tunes" (which had a 5 minute pilot which may or may not go to CN or KWB) and a slight chance that they'd pick up the new "Spiderman" series. All in all, next season may be much better than the past seasons and we may have no anime at all - which would be very different from the past seasons. I can't see Toonami on Kids' WB! much longer. The ratings are down and flat in different demographics. It's not grabbing viewers.

Hmm...that is an interesting question. I wonder since 4Kids will be heading it now, that the rights of "Escaflowne" and "Slayers" revert back to their owners. I'll have to look into this.

I hear that Kids'WB! may be airing some Cartoon Network content during the weekday blocks, leaving the vast majority of their new programming on the weekends. And 4Kids deal for Pokemon is exclusive, so Pokemon may still remain on Kids'WB! 4Kids is reportedly still very happy with how WB has been treating their property.

How is 4Kids going to air 4 hours of programming without Pokemon?

Yeah, I don't know. Maybe Kids' WB! does have an exclusive deal with 4Kids regarding "Pokemon," but I hope not. I was really hoping that we'd have a Kids' WB! for once without "Pokemon."

In addition, I think it would be odd having Kids' WB! air "Pokemon" and basically competing against the owner of the series. I mean, does 4Kids have to put its shows against its own shows on another network? I mean, would it want to kill "Pokemon" on KWB with another series? I doubt that. Therefore, I think "Pokemon" will air on Fox Kids. Hopefully. :D

Still, kidsWB is going to be in a world of hurt in the fall. Pokemon is a big loss for the block.

And I say: "For the love of Mike NOOO!" regarding Armada airing on kidsWB, it would be Beast Machines with it's magic of executive decisions all over again. Armada would be much better on CN.

I forgot about Ozzie.

Ninja Boy (see my Armada comments).

New Loony Tunes?! I missed that news item. Again I'd rather see it go to CN, since they've got the rights to everything else Loony Tunes. That would make the most sense to me.

I thought Spiderman was a sure thing for MTV.

KidsWB is probably going to drop the Psudonami? Yay! This just gets better and better.

That would make me very happy if true. I can think of a certain network that has two action blocks (one in existence, one upcoming) that would make a fine home to those shows. And the companies that own the series (not the broadcast rights) would probably be just as happy to have them air there, especially Bandai.

"All New Scooby-Doo." - This could go both ways.. a flop or a hit.

"Ozzie and Drix,"- Please dont remind me of this horrid cartoon

"Ninja Turtles,"- *nod* this is gonna be awesome

"Ninja Boy,"- This could go on Cartoon Network

"Transformers: Armada"- Also could go to Cartoon Network

"Looney Tunes"- HUH? WOAH i missed this one.

"Spiderman"- This is going to MTV

Mr. Obession, I definitely want "Ninja Boy," "Ninja Turtles" and "Armada" to go to Cartoon Network. However, I don't know how likely it is that all three will be picked up.

"Looney Tunes"- HUH? WOAH i missed this one.

Read this (http://flashpages.prodigy.net/hunter21/bergen.htm) interview with the newer voice of Porky Pig. He states that he worked on a new 5 minute "Looney Tunes" pilot. I'm going to try to get more info on it as soon as possible and then post it at Toon Zone News. Until then!

Sweet! The possibility of new Loony Toons. But I've got to ask, was this even on the news page?

Well I thought the Turtles were basically a done deal for kidsWB. But I hope to God that CN can grab Ninja Boy and Armada. Especially since no one has been talking much about what networks are looking at these shows. And Armada would be just that much sweeter if it not only went to CN (on of the premises for the series was guns, lot and lots of guns :D, which doesn't strike me as kidsWB material), but if they were able to grab the broadcast rights to Beast Wars & Machines. Unless I'm totally wrong here, Fox kids' contract on those two Transformers series have expired.

No, it wasn't. It was just brought to my attention by its author the other day, Matthew Hunter, a member of the Toon Zone Forums. I'm going to email the voce actor and see if he can give me any more info on the show.

It almost seems like WB is going retro for the upcoming season, depending on some mediocre-good cartoons instead of the pile of feces that is POKEMON.

Well, we got through both NBC and Fox Kids. Now we have to see what ABC and UPN will do. ABC needs to stop relying on Disney so much and mabye diversify it's lineup and that's if they don't go to a Saturday Morning version of GMA as rumored.

And as for UPN, I'm sure they will have Offers R US pouring in from the NBC and Fox Bidder losers like Dic, Nelvana, and sister Nick to program something either Weekdays, Sundays, or Saturdays. Anyone care to add any thoughts?

So Digimon could theoretically be on Disney channels, and Pokemon on Fox?

Anyway, I'm surprised KWB hasn't gotten the X-Men Evolution staff to work on a LOTR show. I better stop right here, because I can totally picture such a thing in all its awfulness.

That's a bit harsh don't you think? What about Rescue Heroes GRT? shouldn't that be hated more.

Kids WB will be double running Jackie Chan then and running Xmen Evolution to the ground. The weekday block is finished now. The 4th movie of Pokemon is screwed now, Pokemon reruns are screwed now, Fox Kids does not have a weekday block.

Isn't WB making a Harry Potter cartoon? Maybe that's why they seem so willing to let go of the Pokemon franchise.

And how much do you wanna bet the new FOX KIDS line will be called FOX-4-KIDS?

DG, I was thinking the same exact thing. "You're watching FOX 4Kids!"

So what does this mean for shows that haven't even aired yet like Power Rangers Wildforce and Galidor. I read that Galidor is supposed to be 26 episodes split into two seasons. So if those shows get thrown off the network, where would they go? I get the feeling that I will miss out on yet another second season of a Canadian show (Action Man still had 4 episodes that Fox refused to air, War Planets second season never made it stateside, and Beast Machines' second season only ran once).

Although, ABC Family could benefit even more with all new episodes of Power Rangers along with their scheduled lineup of PR reruns. Same with Digimon. But what's this I read about Ultraman? 4Kids has an Ultraman show and the sat on it for this long? How could they

The only thing I'm concerned about is how this effects Escaflowne. I sure hope this enables it to finally get out of FOX's strangleholds and on to Toonami

And the best part is, with CN new "we let the distributors handle the editing now" approach if CN (either Toonami or AS Action) were to pickup Esca I doubt we'd even have to worry about the hack job Fox did on the series.

James Harvey
01-19-2002, 01:38 AM
It al ldepends on who owns the distribution rights to Escaflowne. If Saban has it then..it's Disney's now....

Killtacular
01-19-2002, 01:45 AM
Saban didn't own the rights, no. He owned the rights to Digimon and Power Rangers, which will appear on ABC Family.

Both Slayers and Escaflowne are simply owned by FOX, although 4Kids could probably get them if they asked.

Mr. Obsession
01-19-2002, 01:48 AM
The good thing is that Esca and Slayers don't seem to mix well with 4kids ideas of good programming. Hopefully the broadcast rights revert to the distributors soon. :)

Call me crazy, but I'm feeling confident that Fox "4"Kids will probably keep Power Rangers & Galidor at least through the next holiday season. PR is a hot item for Fox Kids, and it has always been a Fox Kids show. Just like with the "Is PokeMon exclusive to KidsWB?", I'm questioning if PR is "exclusive" to Fox Kids, for now..anyway. After Wild Force, it'd seem reasonable to move it to ABC Family(Heck, maybe even ABC). But, I doubt they'd just switch networks mid-season(since PR seasons start in February, & end in November..).
As for Galidor, I personally have extremely high hopes for it(the commercials & pictures I have seen have really blown me away). And, I think it's a Saban production? Either way, I think 4Kids would profit much off of it. Looks to good to be true.

I'm sticking with my subtitled Esca, thank you VERY MUCH!! The Fox Kids version made me want to vomit...
Slayers!!! I'd love to see it on Adult Swim Action(With better chances at seeing a Slayers movie, on TV! "Adult Swim Theater".)

Supernovametalstar

I read that a Canadian production company was doing Galidor. And since Saban is centered in L.A., I ruled him out.

But I shudder violently at the idea of the improving Power Rangers being shipped to the regular tv network ABC during One Saturday Morning where it would get hacked to bits and any new shows would revert back to singing happy songs and fighting monsters with snowballs :o

But if 4Kids really does have shows like Ultraman and whatever Kinnikuman is, I wonder how they would handle them. Would they be like Saban and recast american actors, take out original music, and the like, or would they opt for just dubbing the footage as is and seeing how people respond to it. In this regard I have high expectations, since they've actually done a pretty good job with their other overseas shows like Pokemon, and to a certain extent, Yugioh. Although, they do seem to be a little to scissor happy with Yugioh (digitally taking out guns so it looks like some hired goon is pointed a crooked finger at someone and expects them to be scared :) ).
