A nice step-up from last week's season debut, with less over-the-top unpredictability.

- Gary came back to help put the blame on Bellick and Warden Pope for the break (and to get revenge on Bellick). Speaking of which, Bellick looks like a man possessed with that shotgun...
- Nice way for T-Bag to show his graciousness... NOT! And Tweener traveling the country with a college girl? Okay...
- Honestly, I thought it might've been a bit early to address the LJ situation, so I'm actually glad Lincoln and Michael's attempt to get him out failed. Getting 'supposedly' shot in the leg, Link? Not exactly a fair trade-off...

7.5 out of 10 for "Otis." The show did well balancing several storylines in episodes last season... with the convicts split in at least five groups, there'll be a lot of that in the weeks to come, so I hope the writers handle it well.

Didnt really like this episode, the last thing a guy on the run does is confront an FBI agent. And then they really had no plan to take LJ away from Mahone if he resisted, which he did.

3/5

With the exception of the one sharp FBI agent, the manhunt for the Fox River Eight is handled with even more incompetence than FEMA's cleanup of Katrina. Scofield and Burrows were in an elevator shaft when their presence was revealed--cut to the next scene, where they easily got outside and stole a van. Wow, you have to be BAD to mess that opportunity up.

I missed commenting on the premiere and with my thoughts now slightly jumbled I'll just keep things here.

From "Manhunt" I was disappointed to see Terrence Steadman change. It was neat seeing Jeff Perry of Nash Bridges fame back in a recurring role, but I missed John Billingsley. I think Perry is going to do fine, but I'd rather keep things consistent. This series is mapped out in such a way that they'll probably just have to replace people rather than write them out. I remember reading Billingsley's name when I was reading about pilots and I see he is the pilot at least for The Nine. Now President Caroline Reynolds (Patricia Wettig) is apparently part of the cast for Calista Flockhart's Brothers & Sisters so I fear we have this recast thing again. As for Veronica I can only say:

To mostly this week, it seems everyone except for probably Haywire is eventually going to end up in Utah. Tweener seems to have found himself a ride and T-Bag is well on his way after killing the man who saved his hand. I should have known better than to think he would have shown any mercy. C-Note seemed interested in the cash and he always tries to get Sucre to go along with him. I'm not sure if Abruzzi nees the cash, but I remember Philly Falzone caused some financial trouble for him with the whole P.I. thing and the search for Fibonacci.

I was rather surprised that Pope stood up for Bellick and quit his job. The man was close to retiring anyway, but still. With how highly he thought of Michael, he probably questions his eighteen years believing in rehabilitation. When this is all over, I hope Michael has a chance to talk to the warden.

Special Agent Mahone is definately going to be a challenge for Michael and Lincoln, especially since he got the tatoo photos from the artist who inked Michael. He's not the idiot that Bellick and his boys were, but neither is Michael. Utah isn't going to be on any of his tatoos. Mahone looks like he needs pills of some sort that he keeps in that pen. I expect that will play a factor at some point.

The plan to save LJ was as good as it could be and if Mahone hadn't been in the elevator it probably would have worked. I can't imagine Michael and Lincoln trying to drag the kid with them everywhere so I'm almost glad it didn't work. Linc is going to have to get some medical attention though!
