-Batman #659
-All Star Batman and Robin #5: You Know, I keep saying I'll wait until I read the next issue before I decide if I'll cancell it, yet the issue keeps being delayed. Maybe that's why....
-Nightwing #126
-Robin #156
-Action Comics #845: I'm dropping Superman and starting up Action.
-Superman/Batman #31
-Superman Confidential #1
-52 weeks 26-30
-Ion #8
-JLA #4
-Trials of Shazam #4
-Teen Titans #41

I'm going to be soooo broke. *Sigh*

I may get Batman/Spirit. I've never read Spirit, nor do I know much about him, but he's apparently a big deal, so I doubt DC would really try to screw it up.

I LOVE that Outsider's Cover.

Batman/The Spirit
Batman #659
Detective Comics #825
Superman Confidential #1
The All New Atom #5
The Flash #6
JLA #4
maybe:
Connor Hawke: Dragon's Blood #1
Superman/Batman Series 4 Bizarro figure

And I'd just like to say that First Apperances Series 4 is the worst series of figures I've ever seen.

BATMAN #659
DETECTIVE COMICS #825
Kind of a bummer that Dini isn't writing Detective. At least Morrison is still on Batman...

ACTION COMICS #845
SUPERMAN #658
The Superman books seem pretty good post-OYL. Though, I do need to get caught up on the issues of both that I have.

GREEN LANTERN CORPS #6
Really digging this series. It's spectacularly convoluted.

JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #4
Still more of a probability than a definite pick-up, since I've only read #0 so far.

MARTIAN MANHUNTER #4
Assuming I like the series (haven't read the first issue yet).

THE NEXT #5
This miniseries is fantastic.

MIDNIGHTER #1
I'll check this out since Garth Ennis is writing it.

NINJA SCROLL #3
Again, based on how well I like the earlier issues.

What I plan to get:

- Superman #658
- Krypto the Superdog #3 (of 6)
- Showcase Presents: Shazam! TPB

I already have most of the stories printed in the Superman "Greatest Stories Ever Told" volume 2 edition, so I don't need to buy that one.

This is a lot more than I was expecting. Normally I wouldn't be looking at this much, but there is an unusual amount of that stuff has been good or worth looking into.

BATMAN/THE SPIRIT - I rarely pick anything based on the solicit alone, but I really like the look of this. Loeb and Cooke have written some of my most favorite Batman stories.
DETECTIVE COMICS #825 - Huh? Wasn't Paul Dini supposed to be writing this?
BATMAN AND THE MAD MONK #4 - Its by Matt Wagner. I don't usually read most Batman stories, but he did such a great job writing Bats in Trinity and in Batman and the Monster Men that I am definately going to be checking this series out.
NIGHTWING #126 - This series has sucked pretty bad for at least a year now. The only thing keeping me on this is knowing that now Marv Wolfman is going to be writing Nightwing. Chuck Dixon did his thing with Nightwing, but the version of Nightwing that led the Teen Titans is still probably the most interesting of all of the incarnations of the character. Having created the character, hopefully Marv Wolfman will be able to work his magic again.
ROBIN #156 - Why am I still reading this? This is the ugly side of brand loyalty.
SUPERMAN CONFIDENTIAL #1 - Darwyn Cooke is reliable and Tim Sale is AMAZING. His artwork on "Superman for All Seasons" is incredible. I'd rather they stick with a bunch of mini-series rather than start a whole new title, but I'm going to check out at least the first run.
52: WEEKS 26-30 - I'll be reading to "keep up," but I'd never buy any of this.
CHECKMATE #8 - I'm not sure if I'll still be reading this by then. Rucka is a good writer but this series has been corny.
THE CREEPER #4 - This has been a surprisingly good mini-series so far.
THE FLASH: FASTEST MAN ALIVE #6 - Another bad case of brand loyalty. If this doesn't improve fast, its getting dropped.
CONNOR HAWKE: DRAGON'S BLOOD #1 - I will flip through this to see if it looks good. Chuck Dixon always wrote Connor Hawke well as a guest star, and I really like the character.
GREEN ARROW #68 - This is another one that I'm reading to "keep up," but not buying/supporting. If a story is simple enough that I can flip through it and read it in two minutes and understand it all, I don't feel guilty doing it anyway.
JONAH HEX #13 - This is another series that is just always very high quality. The fact that each story is a standalone helps a lot. In that context, I'm curious that this is the first part of a three-part story, since this series hasn't done that yet.
TEEN TITANS #41 - This series has shown marked improvement OYL. Robin's written much better, and both of the newcomers work fantastically with the team. Seriously, Slade's daughter? That's brilliant!
MIDNIGHTER #1 - A bunch of my friends are huge Ennis fanboys (I still have yet to read Preacher). I'll flip through it and see if its worth getting into.
ASTRO CITY: THE DARK AGE BOOK TWO #2 - Its Astro City. 'Nuff said.
100 BULLETS #78 - Another one of those series that has just been solid from issue 1.
DMZ #13 - Has been great so far, and its a really neat concept.
FABLES #55 - Its Fables.
JACK OF FABLES #5 - First issue was really good, and Jack was one of the best characters from Fables. I don't see this getting old anytime soon.
Y: THE LAST MAN #51 - I'm sticking this out until the end.

Phew! That's about 3-4 times what I would normally read a few months ago!

Is there any word on WHY Dini's taking a month off? I thought he was on for 12 straight issues?

He talks about it in the August 21 entry (http://kingofbreakfast.livejournal.com/) on his blog.

Howdy,

- Batman/The Spirit. I'm actually more excited by this to see what Cooke's Spirit comics will be like. Seems kind of packed for a 48-page comic, though.

- Legends of the Dark Knight #212: This one-shot actually sounds like fun, and something that LotDK was really created for.

- That is a truly terrific cover to Catwoman #61 (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview.php?image=solicits/dccomics/200611/batman_superman/CTW-Cv61_solicit.jpg), and to Robin #156 (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview.php?image=solicits/dccomics/200611/batman_superman/RB-Cv156_solicit.jpg).

- Someone somewhere commented that Superman #658's cover (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview.php?image=solicits/dccomics/200611/batman_superman/SM-Cv656_solicit.jpg) is a fart joke waiting to happen. Thanks to that comment, I am now completely incapable of taking the cover seriously. So I figured I'd share :).

- Superman Confidential #1: I'm all for giving Darwyn Cooke more work, but did we really need this title?

- The All-New Atom #5 cover (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview.php?image=solicits/dccomics/200611/dcu/ATM-Cv5_solicit.jpg) may be the best one from DC this month.

- The cover to Blue Beetle #9 (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview.php?image=solicits/dccomics/200611/dcu/BLUE-Cv9_solicit.jpg) comes pretty close, though. I'm thinking I may pop for the TPB.

- Guy Gardner: Collateral Damage #1. I'm not planning to pick this up, but the solicitation text for this issue reminds me that I've heard a rumor that DC is going to make G'Nort a serious character. If it's true, it seems like a real waste of time to me.

- That's one killer cover to Rush City #5 (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview.php?image=solicits/dccomics/200611/dcu/RUSH-CITY-3.jpg), but it's Jock. I'm increasingly thinking he doesn't make bad ones.

- If they used the cover of Warlord #10 (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview.php?image=solicits/dccomics/200611/dcu/WARL-Cv10_solicit.jpg) for Warlord #1, they might have landed all the Swords and Sorcery readers who have been picking up Conan.

- Nifty cover to Batman Strikes! #27 (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview.php?image=solicits/dccomics/200611/jdc/BMSTR-Cv27_solicit.jpg)

- It's a Silkie issue of Teen Titans Go! I may need to get it on general principle.

- Astro City the Dark Age #2. Not crazy about the cover, but definitely on the pull-list.

- That is one striking cover for American Virgin #9 (http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/preview.php?image=solicits/dccomics/200611/cmx_vert_ws/AMVIR-Cv9_solicit.jpg).

- New Fables TPB. I must now do the New Fables TPB Happy Dance of Joy.

- I wonder what that oversized HC of Gaiman/Vess' Stardust is all about.

- The Other Side #2 is also definitely on the pull list.

- Is it cruel to point out that they're soliciting a Warlord "First Appearances" figure just in time for the new series to be cancelled? Cool figure, though.

- I wonder what that oversized HC of Gaiman/Vess' Stardust is all about.

Is that a rhetorical question?

Here's what I'm planning on getting this month:

ALL STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN THE BOY WONDER #5 - Cripes! How many times has this thing been resolicited already?
AMERICAN VIRGIN #9
BATMAN #659 - Can't wait to see Morrison's ideas for the Joker.
BATMAN AND THE MAD MONK #4
BATMAN: LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT #212 - Sounds like an interesting one-off. I'm willing to give it a shot.
THE CREEPER #4 - Steve Niles wrote an interesting, if short, first issue. Not sure I like the new origin as much as the old, but I'm definitely curious to see where he goes with the character and the story.
DETECTIVE COMICS #825 - Dini needs a fill-in writer already? That doesn't bode well. But, hey, it's got Dr. Phosphorous, and, darn it, I like Dr. Phosphorous. So I'm just going to have to pick this up.
FABLES #55
HELLBLAZER #226
JACK OF FABLES #5
JONAH HEX #13
LOVELESS #13 - God I wish they'd put a new artist on this book! Everyone looks the same! I had to re-read the latest issue twice before I understoond the guy doing the killin' at the beginning wasn't Wes. This book is facing the chopping block, not because of the writing, but because of the art.
MARTIAN MANHUNTER #4 - Oh look, another DC character gets all grim and gritty and disillusioned with the world. Didn't they learn their lesson with Batman and the dozen other heros they tride this with? Of course, here I am buying it, so I guess I'm just part of the problem....
NINJA SCROLL #3
SACHS AND VIOLENS TP - I remember when this mini-series originally came out. It didn't sound the least bit interesting to me, and I passed on it. But that was before I became a Peter David fanboy. To be honest, it still doesn't sound that terribly interesting to me, but since it's an old Peter David work, and since the characters turned up in one of my other favorite comics, Fallen Angel, Ill probably check this out.
TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED #2 - David Lapham writing a new mini-series for DC. I'm there.
Y: THE LAST MAN #51

MR.MXYZPTLK
08-26-2006, 05:35 AM
ACTION COMICS #845
Wow! Richard Donner is writing comics! Its like a dream come true! Combine this with a few actual villains! Oh, and, apparently Bryan Singer starts reading comics with this issue! I can't wait, I hope it captures the spirit of the first movie!

TEEN TITANS #41
Is it just me or is this series not as good as it used to be? I realise what there trying to do, and I like the new roster, but the last arc was just boring. Other than the Wonde Girl, Robin relationship it was all pretty.... meh:shrug: That said I don't want to stop reading, I've been reading since issue 1.

TEEN TITANS GO! #37
These ideas are fresher than the last season, .

ALL STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN THE BOY WONDER #5
Yah, um about that front cover...... Why haven't I dropped this yet?

Green-Ghost
08-27-2006, 08:04 AM
I'll get:

BATMAN #659
ALL STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN THE BOY WONDER #5
ACTION COMICS #845
SUPERGIRL #12
52: WEEKS 26-30
JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #4
TEEN TITANS #41
THE BATMAN STRIKES! #27
WILDCATS #2

And maybe:

SECRET SIX #6
BIRDS OF PREY #100
