I hope you never attempt to write a review for an anime site.
Seriously, is that all you cared about, or do you actually understand the plot?

An excellent series.
And this is why I always feel a little bad when I write a caustic review - because I know that I stand a chance of running into the people who worked on the show.
I will say one thing for Elfen Lied, and that's ADV definitely gave it a good release, and the pre-promotion for it was utterly cool as well (the packaging for the pre-release screener is amongst some of the coolest packaging I've seen for a DVD.) I just wish it'd had been laid out better as series (or that I could have screened the whole show - the pace might have made more sense from that perspective.)
And I do love the opening: gorgeous visuals (albeit quasi-referential visuals,) and awesome music.

Well, I'm open to feedback. I'm usually not one of those typical industry types.

That really Matt Greenfield?

Errr anyway, im in the middle of putting down some early choices for my annual "favourite series started or finshed releasing in the UK this year" and Elfen Lied is right at the top, alongside Gunslinger Girl and She, the Ultimate Weapon.
I really, really enjoyed it. Yes its violent and has nudity but unlike some anime it never feels too OTT or too tacked on.
Oh and yes, im hoping the manga gets picked up (along with the Gantz manga).

First time I watched it was fansubs(which is fullscreen unlike the DVDs that are widescreen). Then I watched it dubbed on DVD, I was somewhat disapointed with the dub even though I'm a HUGE fan of ADV's dubs, the dub just diddn't work for me though. Maybe the dub was rushed because they released this anime super fast, I don't know. I watched it again on DVD in Japanese which was amazing because unlike when I watched the fansubs this was in widescreen and 5.1 Japanese.
I'v also been reading the manga which really makes me love the anime more because it explains details better, I look forward to when they go past the ending of the anime. I think I heard it was around chapter 70 that the anime ends & the manga is still ongoing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I really like Elfen Lied, but of course not everyone will. Its very mixed opinions, some hate it & some love it.
About the gore, a lot of times the gore in anime is made to be cool or funny but for me the gore in this show was actually emotional. To me anyway, maybe that won't make sense to others.

It's easily one of my favorite animes.
If people care to look past the gore, it really is good.
