What would you do if you could create your own Batman show? Would you do it in a style previously used or would you create a new animated style? What characters would you include? Which Robin would you use or would you even use a Robin? What members of the Rogues Gallery would make an appearence? What would your priemere episode be about? Would the Joker have a background story or not? Would you focus on more gangster related stories? And most of all, would you set in Timm's animated universe or would you create your own?

Oh the possibilities!

I would make it a prequel to Batman Beyond in which it has stories of Nightwing with occasional appearances with Tim Drake as an older Robin with a more updated suit that was styled a little more along the lines of the Batman Beyond suit but just not with as much technology. Nightwing would of course have a more updated suit, it would stay with the same style, but like the Batman Beyond suit it would have deployable wings but since it's not that much later on, the wings wouldn't go fully into the suit, they would just kinda fold up on the back and for camaflouge it would just look like they were a small backpack.

The premiere episode would be based around when Batman retires and Nightwing talks with him about it and Wayne let's him use new inventions he was working in the Batcave but obviously isn't going to use them.

Although the whole episode would begin with the funeral of Alfred (well it's never really been announced how long he lived has it?) and then it would use the clip from Batman Beyond's first episode of the night Batman retired, then it would go to some gang imitating the Joker, Bane, The Riddler, Scarecrow, and Poison Ivy and maybe a couple others (who are the ones the Jokerz of Batman Beyond formed the idea from) commiting a crime and that's when we're introduced to Nightwing, little later on in the episode it would show Barbra who also has a new suit and she gets in trouble but then that's when we see Tim Drake who is of course older and after the fight Barbra and Tim go to their own secret lair they made and Barb decides she wants to retire so she goes to Nightwing (Not sure if we can say Dick on here) and starts telling him, then she tells him that she's engaged and that's why she wants to retire so she can settle down with her lover (the dude she's with in Batman Beyond).

It'd basically be about how alot of things fell into play, what happened to Nightwing/Grayson and stuff like that, it'd have the basic start of the Jokerz, but they wouldn't be THE Jokerz, just where the whole Jokerz idea came from later on. Tim Drake of course wouldn't really be the same not only since he's older but because of what the Joker did to him. Nightwing/Grayson would be way different because of all that had been happening and how everything's changing and how he's basically the last hope for Gotham since Drake is the only one left but he's more skeptical about his crime-fighting especially since Barbra left.

Just a brain storm. :)

Here's what I would do:

Personally, I don't watch much television. The only shows I watch are Alias, 24, Justice League, Simpsons, and the X-Files only when its the conspiracy episode. The reason for this is that I cannot stand tv shows that have stand-alone episodes and no ongoing story or conflict. What I mean by this is, if the show has no story to it, if each episode is a whole new plot and whole new adventure, then I hate the show. JL is the only series that supercedes this rule because I love the characters and already know their backgrounds. However, I do not watch ANY comedy shows, except for the Simpsons cause its just so damn funny, because every episode is a stand alone episode and there is no ongoing story. And then shows that have ongoing stories are mostly boring any ways. That's why I love the shows Alias, 24, and the X-Files conspiracy episodes. Every episode of Alias and 24 developes the BIGGER story, not the subplots, and the particular episodes (minus the monster episodes) of the X-Files does the same thing. This is also why I like movies more than television. I like the BIGGER story.

Anyhow, with that, if I was going to do my own Batman cartoon, I would have it follow this same trend. I would set up a conflict in the first 2 hour season premiere and then develop that BIGGER story throughout the season. So my perfect idea for a Batman show would be to do No Man's Land for one whole season. If the No Man's Land doesn't last an entire whole season, I would do some stand alone episodes that involve the earthquake-beaten and broken Gotham city.

I would also have Batgirl be Oracle now, have a flashback episode after the earthquake explain her run in with the Joker, and perhaps change the storyline for No Man's Land a bit to have her seeking revenge against the Joker. Also, since Gordon is her father, and his wife is killed at the end of No Man's Land, I'd change his story a bit to make him totally ruthless with the Rouge's Gallery since his daughter's brutal attack and his wifes death are so close together in time line now.

Dick would still be Nightwing.

I would introduce Azreal and Huntress.

Expand Alfred more.

Tim is still Robin.

Batman would reveal to Tim that he is in fact the third Robin, not the second, as a twist revelation for those who watched TNAB. Jason would be spoken of often as Batman guards Tim from the Joker now that he's totally nuts and ready to kill again.

I'd go back to BTAS style animation.

I would put the show on HBO to make it violent as hell.

That's about it

I'd make a show along the lines of the "Bruce Wayne" show the WB was thinking about making, before they scrapped it in favor of "Smallville." Only it would be animated, of course. The animation style would be TNBA but more anime-like. There wouldn't be any super-deformed action or exaggerated expressions though.

The show would start with Bruce making the vow and follow him from Johnny Quest-like adventures into more BTAS style stuff. All the episodes would be done in two, half hour, parts (ala Justice League.) Each two-parter would cover six months of Bruce's life. So, basically a half-hour equals 3 months in the the shows timeframe.

So, Bruce is seven in the first episode. By the fifth episode he's eight. We'll gradually see Bruce grow into Batman. Then when Bruce turns 25, he decides that it's time to return to Gothham, which ends the show; tying into Year One.

So the show will have a definite beginning and end, spanning 70 episodes (which is the # of ep's in BTAS before it became the Adventures of Batman and Robin); and documenting Bruce's eighteen years of training between the death of his parents and his subsequent return to Gotham in "Year One."

I would make a show called "Barbara Gordon: the animated series". In the style and timeframe of TNBA. This show will overwrite BB in any way it can, and also make a fool out of it.
And in this series Barbara has a crush on Dick Grayson because it takes place in the present/TNBA time. And also, just like in TNBA this series will have no hints at a future romance between her and Bruce, because BB is an Elswords series and the present time adventures are not influenced by BB.
Anyhoo, the series will spotlight Barbara Gordon, it will show how she deals with being Batgirl, and other emotions, the relatioship with her father, her feelings for Dick, going out with friends, she will also deal with things as falling in love and sex.

It will be a series for girls and Barbara Gordon/Batgirl fans.

Regular cast members will be:

Dick Grayson
Kara Kent
Jim Gordon
Leslie Thompkins
DR. Mccullough
Bruce Wayne
Tim Drake
Alfred Pennyworth
Rene Montoya
Harvey Bullock

There will be action figures of Barbara Gordon in every set of cloaths she wears in the series.

I think if I made a revision that would definatly be cool, but I'd make sure it wasn't some politcally correct trash like Xtreme ghostbusters, I beleive there was something about Bruce being of scottish ethnicity, I would make a series called legends of the bat, and instead of just having Bruce it would begin during the "Scottish Revolution" (the war that was beign fought in Brave Heart ), in it, a mysterious warrior appears that has the "wings of a demon" and "fights and moves like a creature from hell" , he would definatly have different apparel than the classic bats obviously, and he would be somewhere in the Wayne bloodline, I was thinking it could be like a dynasty of the Bat or something.

After the scottish revoltion batman, there would be more, maybe in the "American Revolution", I would skip certain things like the "Civil War", because I don't think either side is often acurratly represented in their intetions and ambitions, somehwere it would eventually lead to Bruce and he would discover the dark family secret, not sure how yet, but thats how I would have him "choose" to become "a creature of the night" rather than just a punk in a ski mask who knows karate :), once he uncovers his secret, he becomes bats and then Terry comes, I would cover the basics of the show, but modify thins, like umm NO MAX, and then I would have Bruce go into a lezrous pit...yes I would muhahaha, becuase I liked the idea and it shouldn't have changed his mind...Bruce and Terry both prowl the streets, Bruce will eventually die...a long ass time in the future...yes its a bad thing to do but I want to keep things fresh, and in my series he is only one Batman, maybe the best one, but I want to develop Terry, so Terry inherits his estate, and even entrusts his company to Terry...and it would continue from there as the legend continues...

I would take B:TAS and just tweak it a little. I would make the episodes an hour long and try and air them in prime time, and as the gcpolice guy said, I'd try to make it more of a big story. I really like that idea, and I think that major concequestial events of each episode should be reflected in the next. I'd keep the animated universe of Timm and Dini the same, relativley.

My ultimate Batman show would be a reimagining of the entire concept.

The priemere would open to show the entire world in chaos. Metahumans and superheroes are a dime a dozen. Imposing their order against humans and doing as they darn well please. Superman is leading the pack while none will oppose him as he pushes to do away with the military and put our defense in the the hands of superheroes. All the while he is backed by corrupt judges, generals, and senators, except for Senator Bruce Wayne. He sees that our government is doing nothing to stop this movement and, in response, takes upon the guise of a vigilante, Batman. As Bruce Wayne, he fakes his death and makes the Batman his sole identity. His parents, who are alive, and his fiancee, Vicky Vale, are left to believe him for dead. Also, in this priemere, two hour long episode, we see him discredit and end the career of the corrupt Senator Edward Nigma who will later in the series will run against the all ready elected President Lex Luthor.

Throughout the series, we will see Bruce become consumed with being Batman and often long for the love of his life Vicky Vale.

Also, Alfred Pennyworth will continue to remain on the Wayne payroll and will be Batman's only connection to his former life.

Commisioner Gordon will be Batman's ally on the legal front, often getting him out of jams, early in his career. Meanwhile, Represensative Barbara Gordon will join President Luthor in trying to stop the Dark Knight.

In a twist, Ra's Al Ghul will be creating his own, seperate army of genetic mutants to help take over the world. His first mutant was defective and has taken the form of the sadistic Joker.

Yours was really awesome as well, but for an interesting twist, perhaps Terry could be Bruce's illegitimate child or grandson or something to keep with the whole dynasty of the bat thing. That would be a cool show to watch. I especially like the Scottish Revolution one.

thanks :)
ya know what would be really cool? an animated crossover mini series, if it was marvel I'd prefer they shy away from the X-Men evolution universe which is just ewww, but I think a Batman Vs. Predator aniamted miniseries would be AWESOME, I mean it'd be like proving Batman is the ultimate warrior...the comics were cool but if they did like a mini series similar to HBO's spawn and showed it on HBO or put it on DVD, man that thing would be a hit...

Ive sort of thought about this a lot, but more about making my own justice league series (Check out the "Customize your own JL" thread in the JL forum for my ideas on that) But ultimately after a while I think id want to explore all the universes that i'd intertwine on JL individually. Even though Id want DC and Marvel to co-exsit, I'd try to keep it pretty similar to the Bruce Timm animated Continuum (except for Batman Beyond, not because I dont like it but because a few things would contradict too much {i.e. ROTJ, Barbara's future} I actually would plan on using Terry and a retooled JLU in some of the more far fetched JL stores but thats getting way off track.)
In the long run though I'd evolve the Batman Animated universe closer to where it stands in the comics today. There'd be a "The Killing Joke" 2 parter that would set that in gear. Eventually Batman would obtain a wider spectrum of close allies and agents. Barbara would be Oracle (But id give her plenty of action as batgirl before doing that), Nightwing would operate mostly in Bludhaven, Robin would still be Tim from the Cartoon but I'd age him a little bit and work more of the intelligence that he has in the comics into his character. Cassandra Cain would eventually become Batgirl and Characters like Huntress and the Creeper would be more openly welcomed into the fold (but NO AZRAEL and NO SPOILER.) Selina Kyle would discover Bruce's Secret but wouldnt give up her life of crime and to make things more interesting Andrea Beaumont, AKA the Phantasm, would return to fight at Batman's side.
As far as villains go Id keep them all pretty much the same as thier TNBA incarnations (perhaps a few redesigns like Selina). But I'd introduce Zsasz, Nightwings Bludhaven Rogues Gallery (Roland Desmond, Nite-Wing, Lady Vic, etc.) and just for fun... Batmite (who'd probably only appear in JL actually.) Id give the riddler more action than he got on The previous animated shows just cuz I've always felt they glossed over him. The Stories would be a lot darker especially those with Joker. And the animation would probably be some kind of middle-ground between TNBA and JL.

It probably sounds like way more than any one series should take on but I would only do this after evolving it gradually from my JL series as a sort of Spinoff, and all those heroes wouldnt be regulars; Just Batman, Oracle, Robin, and Maybe Phantasm. And as long as I have all these unattainable goals I may as well plan a Nightwing series seperately that would focus more closely on his operations in Bludhaven.

Okay, I sorta did my own version of what I would do a while back. Here's the character list:

Batman: similar to how he was in TNBA, a darker grey costume with the black bat on the chest.

Robin: Tim Drake, of course! I'd have him be a little more independent, and his suit would be blue and black instead of the red/ black or red/ green you're used to...

Batgirl: Cassandra Cain, without a doubt. The costume would be like her comic book one, but she'd have white eyes and a bat on her chest similar to Batman's...

Nightwing/ Huntress/ Azreal: Only show up if the show's "challenge" called for it...

Barbara Gordon/ Oracle: Not paralyzed as she is in the comic books, but "retired" for the role of a vigilante and now both a police officer and main informationist for the Bat squad...

My first show would be with Two Face. The story's on the fanfic board. The whole show would be based more on getting in the character's heads, both bad and good guys and seeing what makes them tick. And of course a lot of action to keep you into it as well. I'd feature Clayface, the Ventriloquist, Catwoman, Two Face, Killer Croc, some random crime bosses and a two part season finale featuring the Joker...
