Dragon Up!!!

Sibling Rivalry...
It's always a Common Theme in Families..
(And in a Family of Dragons, It's No Different!)

Sibling Rivalry... It's perhaps the most common theme that abounds in Families, be it human or Magical Creature. Unless you're an only child.. then Sibling Rivalry isn't a problem..

But for the Long Family, Sibling Rivalry takes on new meaning.. after all you got the older brother, protector of the Magical Realms, and of course the annoying pesky little sister who is always under foot, who's making big brother's life at home a real pain...

But what happens when Little sister finally starts to learn..."Dragon Training"?

Then that simmering 'Sibling Rivalry' is brought to full boil...but when Jake starts to see that his little sister is really (and I'm not saying this figuratively mind you.) Is better than him, will this 'Sibling Rivalry' finally erupt with the force of say, Mount Saint Helens? Or maybe, Krakatau?

Well tonight we find out.. Is Haley really better the big brother? or will big brother really show his little sister that he'll watch her back, even when she has to face some dangers of her own...

Like I said, Sibling Rivalry is very common among families, but when it's a family of dragons? I say 'cear the decks and run for cover' cause how this ends is anyone's guess! as we finally get down to some..

Family Business

Synopsis:

According to TV.com, Here's the low down (The 411 as it were), on this sibling Rivalry..:

Family Business- (205) - When Jake's younger sister, Haley, begins her dragon training, the sibling rivalry between Jake and Haley begins to erupt to volcanic proportions.

Notes:

Dragon Training 101: It's best to start Training at an early age, and for seven (or is it eight?) year old Haley, She's a lot smarter then her big brother Jake, (as we saw in Season 1), but when she starts to train, it's going to be interesting as how she is being taught..

And Who's Haley's Teacher?: Well, since Jake's Grandfather can't train both Jake and Haley, due to dragon counsel rules, it's time to bring in..

Haley's Teacher.
and it's no surprise here.. it's Jake's Home Ec teacher...

Sun Park
(Better known on the Dragon Council as 'The Korean dragon')

Yes folks it's no surprise here... you could sense this all the way back in Half Baked, that Miss Park (please call her Sun), will play a pivotal role this year. and in fact she's Haley's teacher. After all Dragon Trainers have different styles and different ways of teaching. and you'll see tonight how her style is completely different from Grandpa's training of Jake. (and who knows. Maybe Haley will learn Tae Kwon Do in the process...)

Evils: You'll just have to watch to see what evils Haley (and Jake) will have to face. No real clue...

I heard Spud only gets two scene's in this episode so it isn't worth my time. Besides I dispise Jakes little sister, hopefully that Dream episode will be on next week though :D

I saw it, and I liked it. Again, this show has improved SO much and IMO is now one of the best toons on TV. Jake has a great personality now and his friends Trixie and Spud are really blossoming. Foo Dog is so much more bearable. My only worry is that Hailey will become a little too snotty; I hope that doesn't happen. But anyway kudos to the "Dragon" gang for another great ep!

After watching this episode I have to say that If Haley didn't admit to her own limitations, well then Maybe Jake as the American Dragon, would have to worry about his job..

Also what's up with Fu and "The Grim Reaper"? Okay It's funny seeing the Grim Reaper in the story (and man talk about "Dead End" Jobs, and dead men walking..the ending was funny..

Seeing Sun and Haley bonding as Teacher and pupil was a nice touch.. but let's face it. You can only teach so much to such a young mind (I mean Haley's now 8, and she's got some good moves, Imagine when she reaches Jake's 14 year old stature). She could give some of the magical beings who are evil a good run for their money.

But I think Gramps said it best.. Haley's still too young.. and i think that means for at least the next few years it's going to be intersting to see Haley underfoot and in fact I'm impressed that Haley finally admits one thing.. she's not perfect..(and that's what keeps this episode in a rather nice touch of realism..

as for Spud? I agree with Judyindisguise he and Trixie are developing nicely and in fact he (Spud) had at least 4 scenes that I could count..so it really wasn't a disappointment.

Final Verdict on Family Business? I would say just a little above average but the story here didn't plod along like Season 1..so I would say this one gets an 8 out of 10 in my book. Not too great, but far from a disappointment.

I saw last nights episode and enjoyed it. But, I still say that the art as hit a doen turn and should return to the artwork of the first season. BTW was Jake's and Haley's parents or mother consulted about Haley's dragon training. I would have talked to Sun if it was my child and I would have made the last decision on who trains my child not The Dragon Council.

I saw this yesterday, and watching this makes me miss the old designs.
And what's with the Korean Dragon? Sun Park? That's not even a Korean name!

Actually, yes it is. "Sun" is a common (or at least popular) name for girls. According to one site it can mean "goodness", and according to another it means "obedient". "Park" is a variation on the Korean family name "Pak". Another example would be MMPR character Adam Park, who was also of Korean descent.

Sounds like fun. I like Haley she comes off as a witty kid.
I wish I can catch this episode the next time it airs. :anime:
I think Jake's father doesn't know that his family is magical, yet, but I can't wait for the episode where he finds that out!
